i’ve really got the summertime itch to get Painting Serious again, i’ve just spent so much time on my quilts and other fiber arts lately that my painting self (my artistic home) feels soooo neglected and foreign. so i spent some time this evening working on this panel and a pillar of the sorento, il painting :-)

i bought a toned grey sketchbook this weekend to be my casual painting and painting practice book. canvases take up a lot of space, and i thought my oils would pop beautifully on the grey paper. and wouldn’t you know it. look at miss naples yellow… glowing

this evening i started a painting of my wife in our days of being camp counselors together. weren’t we cute

sigh…. ever miss a quilt you made specifically for someone and gifted? this one had the coolest texture ever

finally finished the quilt for my momma’s 60th birthday :-D !!! been a month and a half in the works; quilt top pieced on treadle, quilted and binded on a domestic machine i hope she likes it :-]

overall lots of mistakes and many places i could have done things better but this was only my second quilt and i learned so so much along the way =•w•=

(the quilt post quilting pre squaring up (aka me having to cut off many inches of my beloved beautiful quilt top because this was my first time doing the actual quilting and i was overconfident and forgot about the existence of safety pins))

my workplace has two gender neutral bathrooms right next to each other with residual gendered paint + wallpaper from the 70’s. and let me tell ya. as a genderfluid person, i take the most affirming shits at my job. sometimes it’s gender neutral boy shitting time …. sometimes i choose nonbinary girl pissing .. it’s a true delight

trying out hand quilting for the first time!! i love how subtle it is and the texture?? mmm perfection

i also find the process a LOT more enjoyable and relaxing than machine quilting 😅

and i’m loving the scrap backing i did for this quilt :-)
