That's nice to know thank you! I've still got this in my plans but I've been focused on graduating uni, and now work. Once I've saved up more money I'll be able to spend more on planning and sampling materials etc. :)

Waistband Design

I've been looking into where I can order waistbands that are smooth, and have better options for the design and have gotten quotes from an Australian company.

The first and cheaper style I've been looking at is having the logo embroidered in, and the second option is to have the logo printed on in silicone which gives a nice raised image that stretches well with the elastic.

Due to the large minimum order I have to meet for the company, and the higher cost of the silicone it's likely I'll be planning on using the embroidered style - it looks nice but I really wish I could easily offer the silicone option!

Hello, I came across this in my never-ending quest for the perfect underwear. Your idea looks like what I want. You've got a great looking design that appears to avoid the seam in the rear that rides up and I would love to try these! As such, I'm quite sad that your project is on hiatus. I couldn't find dates so I wondered if you had an update for when I should check back?

Hi there! I'm really happy to hear you like the design, and thanks for letting me know that you like the seam placement.

I placed the project on hiatus after about mid last year, but I've been trying to make some progress on it again just recently! I've done more research in the time being, and I'm currently looking into companies to work with - unfortunately I had to make the decision to leave the previous manufacturer I was working with as they had really poor communication which led me not to want to entrust the project to them. I want to make sure I'm capable of providing a quality product when I get this all going :)

If you aren't following the blog here I'd suggest checking back in a month or two, I should have some drawings of the planned designs up by then and some more information!

Pandawear is going on hiatus :(

While I was still getting everything ready to go I was brought to a halt by financial problems. Unfortunately I can't get the project going until some time next year by the looks of things. I'll keep the blog open and get it running again once it can go ahead.

Sorry about the silence!

There's been a lot of back and forthing between myself and the manufacturer as I try and get things settled to get a final price and sample of the product.

I'm also trying to sort out the best shipping options since international shipping from Australia hurts and I want to make things as affordable as possible!

No I haven’t yet :) I’m still waiting on the prices from the manufacturer so I know how much I can sell the underwear for, and then I’ll be getting a proper sample of the final product made!

Hey everyone! Here's the photos of the first sample I've had made for the underwear for my indiegogo campaign! This isn't the final design, and I'll list the changes that are being made below:

The font on the waistband is incorrect; at the time it was made I was still choosing. The text at the top of the photo set will be what the printing on the waistband will look like.

The waistband is a bit tight on the sample which will be fixed, and it will be replaced with a softer elastic that's a little wider in the final product.

For this particular colour style of the underwear, the stitching and print will be done in the colour seen in the text at the top of the photo set

I saw the first of the samples today!

They made two samples in different materials, so hopefully not only will I be offering the product in the standard cotton/elastane, but also in bamboo. They feel really comfortable in bamboo, but they need to be cold washed and can't be tumble dried.

I'm waiting to find out the costs for production so I can start moving forward with sorting out the campaign!

These two styles of Hanes boxer briefs for women (which, as far as I know, are not in production any more) are a good example of the style of underwear I'm trying to make.

In my design I went for a wider waistband, and removed the false penis-pocket from the design. I also decided to use the stitching through the middle of the front and back to add to the design by making it stand out with colours.

Initially I was planning on printing the brand name repeatedly around the waistband (like brands such as Bonds tend to do), however after discussing it with the manufacturer they suggested going with the tag in the middle of the waistband as a more cost effective method.

These are two mock ups of the style and colouring I'm aiming for. The number of colours I'll be able to make available will depend on how much it will cost to have them made in different colours, and how much interest the project gets.

I was originally going to get the elastic printed with the name all the way around it, but after talking with the manufacturer about the limitations of different options we settled on creating it with the middle tag with the name.
