the fact that haein is willing to die because she just cannot fathom living without her memories of loving hyunwoo, and hyunwoo is willing to become a stranger to haein if it means that she will live........they actually make me want to kms

Ikr! It's not love. It's an obsession and an unhealthy one. She looks at Hae-in and he sees a prize to be won. He cares for her but only to an extent that will benefit & gratify him. Like Hae-in said, he likes to push her to a corner so that she'll have no choice but to depend on him.

Do we think that it's ever going to get through Eun-seong's thick skull that he will never have a chance to be in a relationship with Hae-in and that she will never be in love with him? I'm going to say no. She's denied him like 4 times during the course of this show, including once where she told the whole world he was threatening her. She just asked him this episode why anyone would like him and he's still following her. He's definitely deluded himself into thinking that Hae-in would love him if Hyun-woo was out of the picture. I'm sure that if he ends up in prison, he's still going to think that he has a chance to end up with Hae-in loving him.

It's very interesting that queen of tears is playing so hard into the "these characters were born to love each other" notion. It's repeatedly empathised (and although in a comedic vein) by haein and hyunwoo and in their inability to let each other go no matter how hard things get. At the same time with the flashbacks to how they were each other's first loves and how the osts really point to the two of them being the "one" for each other, it really speaks to how much these characters were meant to be in each other's lives, essentially soul mates, destined to be together.

What's refreshing though is that they said okay you two might be soul mates but that doesn't mean your relationship doesn't take work and that you are going to drift so far apart that it's going to feel like love no longer exists between the two of you. They said hey, being destined for each other and having to still put in the effort to make your relationship work are not mutually exclusive and should never be because that's not how the real world works. But hey, put in the effort, talk, listen, learn, and grow and you'll see why you two were born to love each other.

Let's talk about this and how that plot twist at the end is so nice and nerve wracking at the same time.

Nerve wracking part first~

Honestly, the signs were there that the person with the umbrella that went to Hae-in wasn't Hyun-woo. Though the same face, he doesn't have Hyun-woo's loving gaze to Hae-in. He did differently from what Hyun-woo originally said (get the car around). He was confused as to why Hae-in was outside.

This is sad as it shows how Hae-in's sickness is getting worse. It can open to a whole lot of problems as this shows either: 1) her mind makes her think that the most-recent person she was with would be the next person she meets or 2) everyone would most likely look like Hyun-woo to her. I personally think or hope it's the second one because:

She loves Hyun-woo. He is the reason she wants to live more. When she had the conversation with Hyun-woo about how she's starting to forget people, how she took time to recognize her brother and her doctor's name, she never mentioned about forgetting Hyun-woo.

I think as her sickness gets worse, her love for Hyun-woo and yearning to live longer and build a (better) life with him would make her think that the people around her are Hyun-woo. It's like her mind giving her a reality she wishes for.

saw a tumblr post about queen of tears that i really resonate with.

the question of how vulnerability comes a long way. especially if you’ve been predisposed all your life withholding emotions and being suppressive.

the fear of being seen, the regret after being perceived.

but if you realize, the mortifying ordeal of being loved, being changed, being felt and being able to feel…isn’t that what constitutes the entirety of us being human?

“openness begets openness” now, i’ll be reflecting upon these words until daylight.

I love Jun Mochizuki's work so much because it's filled with people in frilly gowns and/or suits with giant floppy bowties and chonky cuffs, and they all have impractical asymmetrical anime haircuts and giant stylized eyelashes, and they are all being put through unimaginable psychological torment

old sketch from march I decided to finish <3 usually when one of my sketches (intending to become a completed drawing) gets put on the backburner, it never surfaces. I usually have to prioritize other drawings and then months or years pass and once I have time, I lose interest and start other drawings in their place... but I'm glad I mustered up the energy to finish this one, ESPECIALLY since I strongly felt I needed more gothic pieces in my gallery hehe

the relationships between characters in this series are so interesting, because there are so many character parallels. I actually had to change the personality of white alice from the sketch to the final, since I .. think I misinterpreted her story! (so I think it turned out less gothic horror than desired but you know what I'll take this <3) I first read this story when I was 14 and I 1000% BET I'll still be finding nuances and new details in the writing years into the future...

I had a lot of fun with the animation albeit just being a blink animation 😩👍 but blinks can be animated in a variety of ways! in terms of my animation skills, I do consider myself on the weaker side. so if i can integrate more animation frames into my illustrations, it'll help me become more familiar and comfortable with the medium. I especially like the difference in how many frames it takes for dark Alice vs white Alice to blink. I think the blinks came out fluidly and I'm quite satisfied with how this drawing came out!

I binged the entirety of the World Trigger manga (235 chapters at the time of writing) in three days, and I super enjoyed it. (Spoilers ahead)

Quick review of my favorite aspects:

1. The power system is super interesting. It has so much crunchy depth and complexities before even getting into the black triggers. It constantly surprises me with stuff that was always possible, but I never thought of it.

2. The author is a genius. How do they make an incredibly complicated battle so easy to follow? How does one even go about planning such a monstrous web of interactions? The author is a genius.

2. Mikumo is a great MC, a tricky and creative leader that makes the most of his assets.

3. The :3 face is a funny default face. It gives the series a memorable and unique place in my memory. Chika's :> face also sticks in my mind.
