“Oh that’s right, we did leave our parents behind didn’t we.” Diluc spoke now realizing that this little mission of theirs was in fact a game. Ah, he was having so much fun that the consequences of his action were a mere afterthought. Of course Diluc himself would receive a scolding once he returned as well, but it wouldn’t be right if SHE had gotten one too on his behalf, which is why he secretly chose to be her strength, her shield.
With a grin on diluc’s face, one on kaeya’s as well they would both nod in agreement when it came to escorting her back towards their family. “Come, let us depart. Thank you very much Ms Lawrenece.” Diluc said politely as he led them out of the favonius headquarters and into town where they were reunited with their parents. Oh there was that look of disappointment on their faces but Diluc will just deal with the discipline later.
Tumblr media
“Mrs Gunnhildr, Please don’t punish Jean for my behavior. I have been rather deplorable and as the eldest I should have known better. I was impulsive and simply wished to spend some time with both Jean and Kaeya before my studies and etiquette classes would claim my hours.” Senior Ragnvindr saw the fact that Diluc was willing to take the blame for both of them to shoulder the burden for his friends. That was the first sight of a rather wonderful leader.
Part of Jean wanted to turn the other way when she saw the look of disapproval of her mother. Oh the lecture she would get later about not being a proper lady and therefore not a proper representation of the Gunnhildr clan. As they approached Jean quickly looked down to her garments to inspect if they were dirty or torn. The last thing she needed was an added lecture on clothing. Luckily for her it did not see like she was in complete disarray despite the climbing expedition she had created.
Tumblr media
As Diluc took the lead her face reddened, she knew it would be useless for her to try and intervene as Diluc seemed quite set on taking the blame. She watched his calm demeanor before looking to her stern mother. “While I appreciate the sentiment Mr. Ragnvindr your actions do not also excuse the actions Jean took. If she is to be a representative of the Gunnhildr’s she must be accountable for her own actions.” The elder Gunnhildr then turned to her daughter, “Perhaps we need to find you stricter etiquette lessons like the ones at the Ragnvindr estate because clearly yours aren’t taking and the young Ragnvindr seems to be quite adept with his etiquette.” Jean looked to the ground, the duties of her clan always seemed to weigh on her in times like this.
“My apologies, madame.” Her words were as soft as a mouse worried that if she said the wrong thing she would be even more humiliated in front of Diluc and Kaeya. “I understand that wandering off caused worry, and I apologize.”

“Then I die.” It was simple as stating a fact, he would be the last of his brethren that had fallen and it was not a concept he feared, if he could gasp his final breath on the battlefield then he’d lived a fulfilling life. But right now..dying in the presence of so many that cared for him? No, he refused to let this be the end..for his death to be the reason their smiles disappeared. The adeptus was more than ready to simply use his connection to the wind and swiftly leave the area but the woman had quite the grasp on him.
“Stubborn woman.” He scoffs before sighing softly in defeat. “Fine, stay close but not too close.” She might be a vision bearer but there was still no telling just how much malevolence that vision could repel until his karma would eat away at her sanity and destroy her from the inside out. Now Xiao took a hold of her as they both swiftly vanishes from the area only to reappear back into the wilderness, an hour hike converted into mere seconds thanks to his adeptal speed.
Tumblr media
“These are the battlegrounds in which that horrible war took place, the area where gods waged war for land, the very war in which the ‘late’ Rex Lapis became victorious. “Stay on your guard.” Said Xiao as he removed himself from her, taking light footsteps forward. “This is something I could have accomplished on my own. Why did you insist you tag along? Don’t you know you’re only potentially bringing harm unto yourself?”
Tumblr media
If the situation was not so serious Keqing might have smiled at Xiao’s defeat against her stubbornness. But instead she was still concerned. Then I die. It was not a statement the woman wanted to hear from him. His savior complex... no, his feelings of debt were too much. For him to trade his life on a whim hurt her. “I refuse to let you die...or at least not die alone.” She was not naïve, death was a familiar foe always lurking just out of sight. How many times had she almost become one with death over the years. Keqing was still haunted by the battle with Osial. While she put up a brave front things and almost gone very differently for her. The Adeptus in front of her was the reason she was still standing, he had stepped in when a Fatui member almost stabbed her from behind and then when the platforms fell he had been the one to grab her and she her to safety. Xiao might have a debt to Rex Lapis but she had a debt to him.
As the wind whipped against her face she had no choice but to close her eyes and bury her face into his neck for protection against the brutal speed. While it was not the first time he had carried her, they had not covered this much ground before. When they finally came to a halt she carefully opened her eyes. Her grip on Xiao had become like iron and she slowly removed her grasp a little worried that the travel might make her fall over but it seemed she was in truth fine.
As Xiao explained where they were Keqing could not help but glance around. It seemed so desolate now, it was hard to imagine that this indeed was where the gods had once battled. She slowly looked back to Xiao, he had fought here too all those years ago. She knew better than to ask him about it, that he would chastise her for asking. As he mentioned to stay on her guard the weight of her sword felt heavy. Keqing’s eyes narrowed at him at his questions, “Just because you can do it alone doesn’t mean that you should. The same could also be said about you. You were already bleeding and could possibly have a concussion. I’m not going to leave you to your own reckless devices. I don’t care that you’re an Adeptus, you don’t have to do everything alone.” After all this time did he really not realize he was important to him? And they said adepti were wise.

“Well excuse me that I don’t know your friggin’ name. Or do you prefer I call you toots instead?” He spoke with a harsh tone as his temper had gotten the best of him as well. It was as if two flames had met with one another, though there was something that he sensed..something ‘demonic’. It was probably him getting used to the demonic heritage he’s been ‘blessed’ with, his eyes began to look around and the only thing he could see were a few formally dressed men in black slowly approaching them. The triads? No, he’s gotten rid of them just last month, this was probably the mafia..or yakuza. But as they came closer he noticed even from the distance that they seemed fixated on the female.
Holding the oranges rather close before a serious expression appeared on his face. For all he knew these people could be her subordinates and now she could be planning a sort of ambush against him, but Yusuke decided that it would be best to give her the benefit of the doubt. “So, princess, are these guys a part of your harem or what?!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The young woman narrowed her eyes at the man before her suggesting such pet names. Before she could answer the men in black were becoming much to close for her comfort. She almost missed the ridiculous notion that these men were part of her... harem. Mio wanted to scream at him and she would have but instead she threw the orange past the mans head at one of the approaching men. Was it her best plan? No. But it would buy a few moments at least. She was about to take off when she realized leaving someone behind was not the best idea. Especially when he had seen her.
“Ugh, come on.” She grabbed onto his sleeve pulling him with her in an attempt to get away from the now orange pelted men. “We can’t let them catch up to us.” The redhead huffed trying to find anywhere that they could duck into to avoid being caught.

Through the wood of the box Nezuko could hear the purple haired boys voice. It was not as soothing as Tanjiro’s presence but his promise made her a little less worried. There was a bit of trust to be had since they were not currently stabbing at her box and exposing her to the sun. A sliver of sun could easily undo her. Nezuko could hear the other boy chastising the purple one for making her a promise she wondering if he would have opened her box without a second thought. She felt the familiar movement of the box being placed on ones shoulders. It felt strange to have someone she didn’t know carrying her box, Zenitsu had carried her box a handful of times but someone she had hardly met carrying it seemed peculiar.
She wasn’t sure how far they traveled but soon enough the airs scent changed. It was fresh with a hint of salt, a faint crashing could also be heard. They must have come to the ocean. The thought made Nezuko weary, if they shipped off with her box wouldn’t that take her even further from her brother? Her nails scratched against the box in a form of protest but there really was not much she could do when the sun was high in the sky. Eventually her box was put down again but she didn’t dare emerge yet. There was no telling where the box had been left. Despite her anxieties she closed her eyes to regain some of her strength so she could eventually go find her brother, hoping the reality of this as that it was just a really awful nightmare.
It was as though the moon beckoned her forward as her eyes opened. She could feel the night air seeping into her box. Unfortunately she still could not sense Tanjiro which meant the prior events were not just a dream but her brother was gone. But where exactly was she? She had sense the ocean and there seemed to be a slightly rocking to the ground. Nezuko was perfectly still as she tried to assess her surroundings. However she could sense the presence of another, the purple haired boy? Cautiously she opened the door of her box slowly crawling out of it into the room. She blinked a few times so her eyes could adjust to the lighting before glancing around.

Upon asking about her injuries Nezuko just stared at him. Although slower than other demons her wounds were healing. But it was not as though she could exactly answer the boy with her bamboo muzzle on. As another voice called out Nezuko spun ready to fight whatever broke through the trees. But the being that broke through the tree line was another human and she was svooped up before she could really react. Her eyes focused on the approaching white haired boy, her mind reminding her of Takeo.
Tumblr media
The other boy happened to get into range of her and her hand outstretched to also pat his head. The two continued talking but at the mention of Tanjiro and leaving she began to squirm until she was out of the purple haired boys grip taking back off in the direction the other demon had taken her brother. Leaving Tanjiro behind was not an option for her. They weren’t ever supposed to be separated again.
Nezuko ran past the box Tanjiro normally carried her in and grabbed it dragging it behind her as she searched for any sign of where the other demon might have gone. The calm aura was now gone and replaced with distress again. She could already feel the distance between herself and Tanjiro which was causing her to become more and more erratic and showing more of her demonic side. It was as though her fight or flight had kicked in. It wasn’t until the tracks ran cold that she fell to the ground. He really was gone.
Nezuko carefully opened the box crawling inside. Despite how distressed and upset she was the sun would be rising soon leaving her no choice but to find sanctuary in her box. She could only hope that while she hid from the sun, Tanjiro would find his way back to her.
Tumblr media
Ja’far was hesitant as he took a step back upon watching the demon extend her hand, but only to give him a gentle pat too. These brought a rather sour look on his face, granted it wasn’t towards her it was mainly directed towards the feeling of being smaller than he already was. Then both of them watch as the demon wiffles out of Sinbad’s grip and dashes off into the distance. “Hey! Wait, you’re still hurt.” Sinbad calls out right before both him and Ja’far take off after her. “Are you sure she’s hurt? Cause she’s pretty fast.” The younger boy said as they chased her down until she stopped near her box. She didn’t speak a word, instead she just..had gotten smaller and burrowed into the box. “Huh, so that’s what she does.” Sinbad says rather nonchalantly. “Don’t just refer to her abilities like you’ve already seen them before!!!” Ja’far scowls, Sinbad chuckles sheepishly and begins walking towards the box.
Tumblr media
“I’m guessing this is where you stay during most of the day. I’m not sure who that boy was that was with you..but I can see now, the two of you carry the same eyes. He’s special to you isn’t he? Well don’t worry about it, I promise you we’ll find him together, until then please trust me.” His voice is soft and nurturing as he looks into the box with caring eyes and a smile on his face before closing it, shielding her from the inevitable dawn that would soon arrive. “You know, you just can’t go along making promises to demons.” Spoke Ja’far as Sinbad continues on strabbing the box to his back as if it were a backpack. “Oh come on Ja’far, you saw her. If you can tell me that you can look upon a face as cute as hers and not sympathize with her dilemma of being separated from a loved one..well then you’re just really cold-hearted.”
Sin says as he gave the boy a comedic sour expression that really made Ja’far feel like he’s nothing but the bad guy in the scenario. “Ngghh fine, but I hope you know that we’re just as separated from our loved ones as she is.” Spoke Ja’far as he continues to follow his captain. “Don’t worry about it, our paths may be different but I have a feeling our destination would lead us towards the same end.” The man always spoke as though he were a sage, however, as time went on the two had arrived onto the ship and had explained the situation to everyone of whom were surprised that Sinbad really did pick up a demon. Though they all simply placed the box into the hull within Sinbad’s quarters and once the sun began to set on this new day thus bringing forth the moon hours later everyone came into Sin’s chambers to watch the young demon emerge from her box.

“You misunderstood me, my lady.” The young man then clears his throat as he now stands before the young woman. “I was under the impression that you would be far too busy to indulge in festivities.” spoke the scarlet haired man as his ears caught wind of her asking him about Xiao lanterns but before he’s even gotten the time to answer she simply takes him by the arm and pulls him through the streets until they’ve arrived upon a table to construct one of these lanterns. Then she asked him about a wish he must have, that was easy enough. His wish was that this world was cleansed..no, purged from the scum that festers within it. The innocent should not know terror, they should not have to wake up in the morning with the anxieties of whether or not their children would be safe whilst playing outside.
Tumblr media
But of course he couldn’t just simply wish for this outloud, it was rather far from the ‘festive’ mood, not to mention he wouldn’t wish such a thing upon an inanimate object, this was something he would bring about himself, with his own blood, sweat and tears. Though, he still owed her an answer as his eyes studied her movements, unloading her bags and removing the materials from within them. “I’m pretty sure I’m rather content with all that I have but for the celebration’s sake I think I have one.” A safe wish nonetheless. Diluc would embody this future lantern in the making with the wish of a wonderful harvest.
Keqing smiled, he was always so formal. “While true, I don’t usually get away from the office what kind of person would I be if I didn’t at least make an appearance at the festival? We all take some time to enjoy the festival, in some capacity at least.” She couldn’t help but think of Ganyu who was probably running around this very moment. “Everyone works so hard to put this festival together taking a moment to enjoy it honors them.” She pulled out the paper, string and some dowels before looking over at Diluc.
Tumblr media
“Now, what you’ll want to do...” She explained the process of making the lantern carefully to Diluc letting him watch the movements she made to create the lantern. When she was finished she smiled, “See, not too bad! We have plenty of materials so don’t worry about not getting it perfect the first time.” The buzz of Liyue during the festival always tended to put the Yuheng in a good mood. She was ahead of schedule per usual but of course her venture would put her behind her year lead on projects but nothing a few overnights couldn’t fix, plus playing host to Diluc was an important matter.

Stubborn, if there was ANY word that would directly describe this woman in her entirety it was the word stubborn. He felt her grip upon him and as much as he tried to shirk her grasp away she would only prove to be more persistent to ensure she keeps a tight grip on him to prevent him from traversing through the wind with his prominent speed. He gazes into her eyes with a stoic expression listening to what she had to say, yes she had a point that the festivities were for him, a celebration of his birth. A stupid idea, but within his very soul he appreciated the notion. They even got Rex Lapis (currently disguised as Zhongli) to attend his bash along with the workers of the wanshu inn. There weren’t many people and that was the way he liked it, a great way to ensure his karmic debt did not afflict the people in the vicinity.
Tumblr media
“Hmgh..” He grunts under his breath, what good would telling her be? If his hunch was correct then this was an enemy that’s been around far before her time, which made it his cross to bear. “I heard a voice in the back of my mind, the voice of an old god that I thought was once vanquished. However, it seems that hatred that festers within his tormented soul found its way to me, another being tainted by darkness, a walking embodiment of sin.” That was all he really COULD tell her. “I must go to the place where the war took place, where he was slain to make any more sense of this situation and I need to go there alone, though if you persist of coming along then remain near at a safe distance.”
Tumblr media
Keqing looked at Xiao disapprovingly. In her mind she was also scolding Zhongli because clearly he allowed Xiao to think he could handle everything on his own. She clicked her tongue in annoyance still not releasing her grasp on him. “You are not going alone.” While keeping one hand still on his arm she raised the other up carefully to check if his head as still... bleeding, if you could even call it that. The “blood” which poured from Xiao was not what Keqing had expected it was not red like the blood of humans, but was the embodiment of the karmic debt. She wasn’t even sure if there was a real way to stop such bleeding, would treating it like a human wound even work? “You state that it’s an old god, we have already faced that together once. Plus what happens if you fall again and you’re alone?”
Prior to actually meeting the yaksha she believed in a world ruled by mankind and that it was time for him to rest. She still believed in such a notion but after meeting Xiao she quickly came to realize that would never happen. It was one of the things they clashed on. Xiao was set in his vow to Rex Lapis and Keqing was set in her vow to mankind. They were two sides of the same coin from different eras.
The woman was not going to budge on this, the one thing they did share in common was their stubbornness, “Either you’re taking me or you’re not going because I won’t stop holding on to you.” The phrase sounded so childish that she hated it but it seemed to be the one thing keeping him in place which meant he was safe at least for this moment in time.

Keqing shook her head as Xiao began to move away from her revealing how much “blood” had gotten on her from his self inflicted wounds. If Xiao had been worried about staining someone with karmic debt it was somewhat assured that if such a thing ran through his veins Keqing was now drenched in the debt. As he moved away she grabbed onto his  arm refusing to let him vanish. He had already been hurt and something was going on. “The festivities are for you.”
The young woman turned to try and look to Zhongli for assistance but it seemed as though the older gentleman had excused himself, perhaps to try to find a solution. But in doing so it left only herself to deal with convincing the Yaksha to not leave so suddenly. The lilac haired woman moved in front of him in an effort to stop him and gently touched his head. “You’re injured you should not be running off right now.” Her hand was still clinging to his arm as though her own strength would be able to stop him. “Tell me what is going on.” Despite the soft tone in her voice she was still as stern as ever. “Whatever you’re trying to shield me from it’s too late now.”
Tumblr media
On the day in which he celebrated his birth Xiao found himself in pain, a day of birth held significance for many, for some it meant celebration and for others it was a time for reflection but for Xiao it was neither, he felt rather hollow. His existence only brought pain, the event broke Xiao to the core that his name needed to change. It was an attempt to shed that side of himself, to not forget the past but accept it and move forward. But it seems that the past was calling back to him as he heard his name of old. “Alatus.” It echoes within his mind once..but as quick as it encroached his senses it had left him just the same.
Though he came back to the present once he felt something soft against him. Opening his eyes he would then spot the Yuheng, she was close..too close. Even if he did this for the sake of her own safety it still seemed rather harsh for him to simply remove himself from her vicinity. This was for her own good after all, his conscience was clear. He couldn’t let his karma hurt those around him, especially those he cared about. “Your concern isn’t needed, however, it is appreciated. Now if you’ll excuse me there are matters I must attend to. Remain here and bask in this bash. I will not be around to dampen the festive mood.”

Nothing but the sound of laughter could be heard within the streets of Mondstadt as the trio continued their race. Because of Jean’s ‘fair play’ shortcut she managed to reach ahead of the boys even running through the halls of the HQ. Jean tagging the wall first, followed by Kaeya and then finally Diluc, the last one that was left to clean the stables once their session of training was over. “I can’t help feeling I was cheated.” Spoke Diluc, Kaeya chuckles before both hands are placed at the back of his temple.
“And you young lady, you could have gotten hurt.” Said the scarlet leader as he pokes Jean’s forehead with a gentle poke, this was all great fun for the trio, however, they were in a serious place now and Grandmaster Varka was more than willing to remind them with a clear of his throat. The man had a rather masculine stature and a tone that demanded respect. Upon hearing the sound the grandmaster made, Diluc and Kaeya both turned and stood straight with one salute.
“Grandmaster!” They said in unison. Varka glares at them with disdain on his face before he instantly lightens up with a grin and pats Diluc upon his shoulder. “I saw the whole thing, be carefuly sir Diluc. It seems that your squires may eventually catch up to you someday.” That grin still on his face as he looks onto the trip with hope in his eyes. Diluc then turned to look at Kaeya and Jean. Even if he was the only one gifted a vision, he saw them all on equal terms because he had that much confidence in their individual abilities. “A captain can only be as strong as the unit that follows him into battle.” Said Diluc turning to face the Grandmaster.
Tumblr media
“Well said Sir Diluc, now I do hope that the three of you try not to rush about the halls too much. Someone could get hurt after all.” After giving them a salute, the man then made his way back out, on his way to begin another expedition. “Whew, I don’t ever think I’ve been this intimidated.” Said Diluc as he chuckles sheepishly.
Jean scrunched her nose when Diluc poked it, “You’re just upset you didn’t think of it!” She teased. Before she could say much else she heard someone clearing their throat, she turned only to be confronted by the current Grandmaster. Her eyes widened clearly, feeling intimidated until the older man cracked a smile, “We will be careful Grandmaster.” She pipped in as Varka took his leave. She proceeded to give a salute and waited until he was out of range before she exhaled. She giggled a little at Diluc’s words.
Kaeya again put his hands behind his head, “So now what are we going to do?” But before anyone could answer another pair of footsteps was rushing towards them. Rounding the corner was an out of breath Eula Lawrence. Jean looked at her with confusion but Eula began to speak, “There you are, your parents are looking for you Jean and Diluc…” She then noticed Kaeya, “And probably you too Kaeya.” Kaeya huffed a little with annoyance at being an afterthought.
Jean shifted uncomfortably realizing that she would be in fact returning to her mother. She was absolutely going to be scolded for slipping away. Her mother would probably go on about how it is not right for a lady to just take. She glazed down realizing she had also gotten her dress dirty. She was going to be in so much trouble. “Where are they Eula?”
“Right by the fountain. Your mother doesn’t look too happy.”
Jean grabbed a piece from her ponytail twirling in trying to think of some excuse she could possibly give her mother. She looked to the two boys, “Well I guess that concludes the mission. Will you both escort me back?” Maybe if she had Diluc and Kaeya her public scolding wouldn’t be as severe.

Kaeya smiled a little, “The people of Mondstadt become very concerned for the wellbeing of others. Please don’t take offense, you meant no harm and they just want to ensure your safety.” He extended his hand out offering to assist her down, “Why don’t we go get you something to eat, my treat.”
“I promise no one is upset with you or anything like that. So how ‘bout it, shall we go get you some food and you can tell me what brings you to Mondstadt, maybe I can assist you if you’re looking for something.” Being helpful was one of his duties as a knight but he was also curious by nature. Jean was off handling a group of nearby hillichurls and he was sure Lisa could handle things while he showed the cities newest guest some Mondstadt hospitality.

Kaeya was stuck doing paperwork yet again. Although this time Jean had placed stacks of papers on his desk as a punishment for being a tad reckless with the last batch of hilichurls that approached Mondsdat. Sure, it had been a tad reckless but he got the job done that was the important part, right? However, a knock on his door caused a young man to look up from the current paperwork he was doing, “Sir Kaeya! Please come quick, we have a bit of a situation.”
“Oh?” Was all Kaeya said before slowly standing up following the distressed Knight outside the headquarters. The knight points at a building where a crowd had gathered all looking upward. Kaeya followed their stares to the roof only to find someone perched up there. He chuckled a little before gently pushing the knight, “Come now, this isn’t an emergency. The way you are acting you would have thought Dvalin had returned for round two. Now go disperse the crowd.” Shaking his head he turned his back to the other man making his way to a vantage point so he could get onto the roof as well.  After a bit of climbing he began jumping from roof to roof, causing those below to look up and cheer a little seeing one of their knights running across the rooftops.
When he jumped onto the roof where the woman was sitting he approached quietly before crouching down, “Now what do we have here today?” He grinned tilting his head to the side. He had given some distance between them just in case the situation wasn’t what he was perceiving. “You seem to be giving our citizens quite the fright.”
@curiouskinetic
Sora had heard him coming long before he reached her, turning her curious gaze from the crowd (that was now starting to disperse thanks to the other knights), to him. And upon hearing what he had to say, she looked dismayed.
Tumblr media
“Oh– I-I am? I didn’t mean to!” She’d just been having a bit of fun exploring a new area, she hadn’t meant to scare anyone in the process. “I’m, uhm, I’m sorry!” Her ears flattened against her head as she glanced down at the crowd again, embarrassment flooding through her. How had she not noticed she was upsetting people?
“Should… should I get down..?” That was the reason people were scared, right? Maybe they thought she was going to fall? Sora knew she wouldn’t, and even if she did she wasn’t too worried– but they didn’t know that, so maybe it was only natural for them to worry…

Mondstadt was turning out to be a pretty fun place! It was much different than what she was used to, but at the same time all these new things were so exciting to explore! She’d only just entered the city proper– by climbing over the wall instead of using the front gate.
Now she was having the time of her life running around on the rooftops, chasing birds and climbing as high as she could to feel the wind in her hair. Oh yes, Mondstadt was great!
Though there did seem to be a lot of people gathering around the bottom of the building she was currently perched on, staring up at her. Curious, she leaned over the edge and stared back, head tilted to the side.

"Thank you Yuheng." A shopkeeper nodded to the lilac haired woman so graciously took the bags filled with Xiao lantern materials. Keqing tended to always buy extra supplies just in case. She was about to make her way to one of her favorite spots when she heard her name.
"Master Diluc?" Keqing tilted her head upon seeing the redhead, "You're surprised to see me? Did you forget I reside in Liyue? It's a surprise to see you here. You're quite far from Mondstadt." She glanced upward to the lanterns, "Have you made your Xiao lantern yet?" Before waiting for his reply she grabbed his arm pulling him to a table set up to create the lanterns and set her bags on the table pulling out the supplies. She was not exactly giving him a choice in the matter. "I promise I'll walk you through it. After all I'm sure you have some kind of wish." It would be a lie if she said she wasn't curious about what someone like Diluc wished for.  Not too long ago she had encountered Diluc at the Windblume festival where he had been her escort so it was only fair that she did the same for him.

Because of Diluc’s status in Mondstadt he was always invited into other countries as a form of courtesy, this time he’s been given an invitation to dine within Xinyue Kiosk, his visit there also grantts him the opportunity to enjoy the nation’s celebration. Of course, this was a rather trivial thing so in his mind he opted to outright refuse but, for appearance sake it appears that his hands were tied. So he was escorted by carriage towards the region. Upon arriving he could sense the ambiance, the people rather joyful and music could be heard for miles. His eyes could already spot golden orbs ascending into the skies, individual wishes were made upon Xiao lanterns. Both arms were crossed over his chest as scarlet hues glances upward. “Prayers..” He spoke softly, their hopes, wishes and prayers were placed into these as they ascend towards the sky, but to what purpose? Diluc’s faith had already been almost completely shaken so things like this really were a mystery to him. “Oh..” His eyes spotted a familiar form among the people, a young woman of a beautiful Lilac hue. “Lady Keqing, surprise seeing you here. Basking within  the celebration I imagine?”

It really brought him warmth to see how much she believed in him, and also the belief of the people in mondstadt. But that’s how it is, there were expectations of him, expectations that require nothing short of perfection and that was what Diluc gave. “An operation? And neither of you cared enough to include me. I hope the two of you aren’t crossed with me.” Spoke the smooth voice of another, cobalt hair and tanned skin. It was Diluc’s sworn brother Kaeya. A grin appears on Diluc’s face the moment Kaeya enters his visage, he was another person Diluc has so much faith in.
Tumblr media
“Sir Kaeya, wel in my defense me and father had searched for you.” There was a pout on Diluc’s face, playful but it was rather visible right before Kaeya chuckles rather sheepshly. “My apologies, I was spending time with Charles actually. So captain, request for a mission briefing.” Kaeya knew better than anyone, when it came to these type of stunts Diluc was always so passionate about it. The young Ragnvindr clears his throat before pointing towards the Knight’s HQ. “Alright men, time continues to elude us leaving us with less than five minutes until class starts. Were this an escort mission then I’d advise caution and encourage a sluggish approach, but this, this is a time trial. Last one at the door will be made to clean the stables.” And with that Diluc rushes forward, Kaeya following behind  as the roar of laughter left them.
Upon hearing the other voice Jean turned with a smile, “Kaeya!” She had been wondering where he was when he had not arrived with Crepus and Diluc. When Diluc mentioned this was a time trial she knew she was about to lose. Kaeya was by far the quickest out of them all and she was not completely sure if she could outrun Diluc as he had some height advantage on her. Regardless she took off after the two, grinning despite the lead they already had on her.
Tumblr media
The trio continued to race through the streets. She noticed that Kaeya and Diluc took the stairs which provided her an opportunity to gain the lead. It was just her versus the wall, her climbing versus the boys running speed. She inhaled diverting her path away from the boy launching herself onto the wall, luckily for her her leap got her halfway up. Without sparing a moment she began to climb, putting everything she had into these moments to scale the wall. As she reached the top she turned her head noticing the red and blue approaching the top of the steps.
“Not this time.” She landed on her feet continuing on to the HQ knowing the boys were right on her tail now. In a matter of moments they would find out whether or not her different path would be enough to win. But she was not in the mood to clean the stalls today.

Jean's cheeks reddened slightly as Diluc took her hand into his. She could tell that he meant his words, "Thank you, Diluc. I think you would be a wonderful Grandmaster. Everyone sees that already. Your strong, compassionate, and driven..." She realized she was beginning to ramble a little bit. Luckily Diluc changed the topic, "Ready for anything." She smiled up at him.
It still nagged her that her mother and Crepus were still talking. The way her mother had been on the way over. Something was off this was not a normal business meeting. But she continued to shake the thoughts from her mind. "So what is the first mission Captian?"  If there was one thing she knew for sure was that Diluc took things to heart including games.
Tumblr media
The way she moved with him, she followed orders silently and her movement were always impressive. She was not an official knight just yet, but this little game that they’ve played thus far really shows him her potential..not just a knight, Diluc felt she can go far beyond the usual knave. But thus far the coast was clear, their parents were back at the usual spot probably chatting whilst they had some freedom before official training would commence at the academy’s HQ.
A smile appears on the young man’s face, gently taking a hold of her hand within his both his own. Scarlet hues gazes into her eyes. “I believe that you will, you know there’s talk about me one day taking over for Grandmaster Varka. Now that’s a position I’d be lucky if I’m just half qualified for.” Though his words spoke of doubt, when his hand let her go there was a fire that burns in those eyes, it would be difficult but Diluc was raised to hold success near his heart. “Are you ready Lady Jean of Ordo Favonia?”
