Everynight I fall asleep looking mournfully into his eyes. "I can fix him." You can’t, not really. The kindest thing you can do for him is to be there. And then let him go.

"Promise me you won’t let me end up like that hopeye."

"If I’m trapped here… just let me go, okay?"

He compares himself to a hopeye slowly dying in a cage. Its so joever.

Imo, Sym is pretty creepy either way. Dys knows him pretty early on in the game (when he’s 9!) and in most endings, dates Sym. Its a really creepy situation and all the "don’t tell any adults about me" really rubs me the wrong way. I know it probably isnt intended like that, but depending on how you read into the situation, Sym is a dubious pedophile at best and a child groomer at worst.

I’ll elaborate and provide some of the scenes that made me think this way if necessary.

I’ve played I Was a Teenage Exocolonist so much that even in my first run through of a new game where I’m trying to create tragedy after tragedy so I can justify sending this version of the MC down the military route, I’ve already maxed my perception, accidentally saved my dad, and mostly solved the food crisis AND MET A HARD TO FIND BUT VITAL FOR A GOOD ENDING CHARACTER by fourteen.

But I will say, being able to meet this character at thirteen makes their story so much creepier because they’ve clearly been intended to meet later.

I wanna get worse endings, but if I succeed first I feel bad about going back to try and get Military Hero or similar ones!
