me during yesterday's shift: "i actually feel surprisingly fine, no pain or anything yet. maybe my joints are getting stronger and i won't have to worry about them so much."

me as soon as i get home and get in bed: "oh. oh no."

one thing i really, really love about Chuck is how he always seems to find little ways of cheering himself up. that poor man goes through probably the most physically and emotionally strenuous day of his life every single day of his life, and he obviously feels things very deeply, but he also intentionally creates and/or holds on to little moments of happiness for himself. he's just a buoyant guy and i love him a normal soul-crushing amount.

this with undiagnosed chronic illnesses as well!!! thinking that you're going crazy or that it's all in your head for years because everything is so much harder for you than it ought to be and no one around you takes you seriously so you wonder if you're actually just exaggerating because you shouldn't be in this much pain for no reason and then once someone finally takes you seriously and you realize what's been going on for your whole life it makes you want to fucking bite people!!!!! because how dare you put me in this mind hell for years and make me question myself despite everything in me insisting that something is not fucking normal!!

but then how can i even be mad. because neither of us had any clue how bad it actually was.

in all seriousness it's very alienating knowing theres Something Wrong With You. like seeing your mental illness come through in your behaviour and thought processes and knowing it's irrational and unhealthy, knowing other people are reading you as weird or stupid, and not being able to do anything about it is such a lonely experience
