I kerp forgetting that neil being demi is not in fact so people can say 'hey he's demi and that's why i like him' it's so that somewhere some kid reading these books can be like 'wait that exists? maybe i am like that too?' And that's why representation id so fkn important.

Since my recent post about demi Neil erasure has gotten much more traction than I thought it would, here’s a small post about how it feels and felt to realize I was demi because of Neil and then subsequently see tons of people disregard it.

(this isn’t a call out or discourse post, just some personal stuff I’m airing out to hopefully help this stop happening)

It was kind of a big moment for me when I realized that like, Neil’s thoughts on romance/relationships throughout the books wasn’t just someone finally getting it right but someone writing from an ace spec perspective.

So seeing people (and literal friends of mine) say, “Well he is basically gay because he’s dating Andrew,” or any similar phrase hurts. On top of all the internalized shit I still have to work through seeing that sets me back so far. There is literally no justification for it. He is demi, it is not just a widely accepted headcanon. It’s a confirmed canon fact, and he and very importantly every demi and ace spec person in this fandom deserve to have it treated as such. It erases such an important part of his character and the plot of the books. It erases his emotional bond with Andrew.

We rarely get ace spec rep in novels, and to finally have a demi character and see it taken away by people in this fandom because it’s ‘just easier to call him gay’ really fucking sucks.

TL;DR: Neil is demi, he isn’t 'basically gay’. It isn’t 'easier’ to call him gay either. If you want to get into semantics it’s one extra letter to type. Calling him anything but demi hurts demi fans more than you may realize, and I hope this helped at least one person understand that.

asmodeus is a character that doesn’t get much attention, by the game and the fandom (which is ironic, because he craves attention). there are several reasons as to why that is, but one is how one-dimensional he appears. i thought that at first as well, but after having played the game several times and doing so again for this meta, i realized there’s a lot of depth to asmo.

let me start off by warning that a lot of this meta is just me speculating wildly. i’m taking events and dialogue from the game in order to construct my own interpretation of asmo. it’s not the only interpretation, nor is it the correct one. this is just me taking a look at what we know of asmo and trying to gain a better understanding of him.

heads up that this is 2.8k words long, as in i’m literally just rambling for no reason for most of this thing. i have a lot of feelings about asmo and i needed to put them down somewhere, okay.

'I can still feel their touch lingering on my skin' they say. And yet it always sounds so romantic. But what they don't realizee is the different meanings language can have. For example this exact sentence is what popped into my head but more in the 'i wanna scrub your hands of my skin' kind of way.

I didn't realize it before but I don't like it when you touch me. I don't like how you are trying to dominate me in every way. Especially now that I figured you are like this to play the powerful role you don't get to play at home.

You say you hate your family. Yountake every opportunity to get out of the house and stay away for long times. I've met your parents. They seem nice. Do you not get enough attention?

I've heard it all. The 'i hate myself', 'i don't like change', 'thats just who i am'. A girl with high self awareness so it seems. Yet a person not willing to change. A pessimist at heart and a manipulator in disguise.

Don't get me wrong, I am a manipulator as well. And perhaps we are just too similar. But maybe I'm not the only one thinking 'she has to go'.

Right now with two manipulators by my side. My loyals Noah and Ethan. The first as master of seduction in more than one way and the other a powerful heir from a bloodline of emotional manipulators. And as we say, you cannot manipulate manipulators. Unless they do not realize you are a manipulator.

So Char, I hate it when you touch me. My manipulators both being extremely sensitive to touch. And it's important I set my boundaries.

From now on I will not let you touch me anymore. I will have you ask for consent.

When i say i'm hypersensitive. I don't mean i'm a little bitch. It means that even now when a person just cuddled with me for a long period of time. My body feels like it has been sexually harassed. I have to take extra good care of myself. I break easier. Am fragile.

The advantage here is not that it makes me cute and childlike, but that i know my wants and needs simply from listening to myself. My self awareness that does not come from insecurity and defense. But the natural instinct of knowing my own language and taking care of myself. And knowing when to set limits.

I do not hate myself. I just hate the way my brain works sometimes. I hate how difficult life is for me. But i do not hate not liking you. Because my human keeps telling me not to trust you. And as long as i listen to myself everything is gonna be alright.
