Took a break from writing my ghoulcy fanfic because I kept thinking how neat it would be to see the current inventories of Lucy and Cooper. So I made these. I really like how they turned out. I'm thinking of making these every so often to show the things they pick up or their health stats hehe
This is Lucy's, not much to see here, but considering this story is an eventual romance I certainly hope she picks up more radaways lol
This isn't a plothole! Lucy can see her companion's inventory!
And well, I had to do Dogmeat. Huh? What's that? Where is she carrying these things? This is a world with zombie cowboys and giant, man-eating axolotls. I think a dog's inventory should be the least of our concerns.
If you want to read my fic I have a pinned post about it or you can click here to read the latest chapter.

Totally going on a rant here, but as much as we'd all love for Lucy to be a gunslinging bad*ss, I just don't think that's who she is, not yet anyway. While it would be pretty cool, there's still a long way for her to go before she can become someone like that, yes, even during the finale she's not there yet.
There's a reason why she hesitates to shoot her father, he is a bad man and he sure deserves it. By pointing the gun at him, we know that she acknowledges both of these to be true, she would be justified to shoot him, no one would hold it against her but that's not who she is (which omg, they way that parallels with Cooper's story, but that'll be a post for another day). Like it or not, upbringing will influence people's actions and breaking away from that isn't easy. Lucy has gone through a lot, but the finale shows us, that while she has changed, at her core she sticks to her values and beliefs.
I love when fics stick to her character as shown in canon and demonstrate that hesitance to 'adapt'. Our current Lucy isn't the same Lucy that left vault 33 looking for her father, however, she is still someone that will adhere to her morals. Next season I'm sure we will see many changes, not just in her but also in Cooper as he influences and is influenced by, Lucy Maclean.

I sort of forgot to post about it but I have an ongoing slowburn ghoulcy fic if anyone is interested :D there are 8 chapters as of now, updates on mondays, I try to anyways lol
Rating: General Audiences (for now) Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Cooper Howard | The Ghoul/Lucy MacLean Characters: Lucy MacLean, Cooper Howard | The Ghoul, CX404 | Dogmeat Main Tags: Fallout Video Game References, Slow Burn, Eventual Romance, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Inspired by Hades and Persephone (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore), Persephone Goes Willingly With Hades (Ancient Greek Religion & Lore), Older Man/Younger Woman, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, Canon-Typical Violence, Ghoulcy, Ghouls, Cowboys, Character Study, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, Cooper Howard | The Ghoul and Lucy MacLean's Road Trip to New Vegas
Summary:
From the moment Cooper laid eyes on Lucy with that doe-eyed gaze of hers, still full of naivety, he decided he could not stand it. He longed to see it corrupted, he knew it'd happen, after all, he used to be just like her. But she just had to go and prove him wrong, didn't she?
He could've died at her hands, retribution was her right and he braced for his fate when he saw her emerge from the building, instead she spared him. After all, he still had a conscience, for better or for worse, now they shared the same goal and he'd make sure she got there unscathed, no matter what it takes.

The 'Me' is Cooper, who imo is the central character to the story and why not, its narrator.
The 'Shadow' is Dogmeat, like a shadow, she faithfully follows closely behind.
The 'Echo' is Lucy, literally an echo of the past, of the man Cooper used to be.
The "we three, will wait for you, even until eternity" is so heartbreaking because if you think about it, in a way, it applies to all three of them, yeah, even to dogmeat, dogs have feelings too.
Of the three:
Who is the shadow?
The echo?
And me?

Every 21st century piece of writing advice: Make us CARE about the character from page 1! Make us empathize with them! Make them interesting and different but still relatable and likable!
Every piece of classic literature: Hi. It's me. The bland everyman whose only purpose is to tell you this story. I have no actual personality. Here's the story of the time I encountered the worst people I ever met in my life. But first, ten pages of description about the place in which I met them.

I find it deeply annoying that Darcy gets lumped in with Rochester and/or Heathcliff, but it is also slightly funny because I'm not sure any Austen lead would hold Rochester and Heathcliff in more undiluted contempt than Darcy.
(In fairness to Rochester, I don't like him but he's no Heathcliff either. IMO a lot closer to him than to Darcy, though!)
