Lucy knows she's spent too much time alone with Cooper when she instinctively and unironically goes "smoothskins🙄"

One of my favorite moments in the show is when Cooper and Lucy come across that ghoul who is slowly turning feral. I can't recall his name, but he keeps repeating his name over and over again. But at one point, he is talking with Lucy and I don't remember what they're talking about but he starts to reminiscence about something happy ... a sweet memory ... and it's then that Cooper shoots him. Lucy gets mad at him, but if you're familiar with the games then you know what was happening and you know that Cooper had to kill him. And I just think there's something so beautiful in that moment, because to Lucy it comes across as callous and cruel but in actuality ... it's a kind and compassionate merciful act. Cooper kills him before he goes feral, he kills him when he isn't expecting it, and he let's his last thought be a happy one and how many happy moments are there in the apocalypse? It's just such a lovely moment that is deeply characterizing of the type of man he is, because he is a good man who has become someone else after 200 years in this wasteland but deep down .... he is still that good man. On some level anyway.

you can't have a scene with the optimistic yet naive character where they have a cheesy monologue trying to diffuse a situation to a character who's a terrible person and could kill them as well, but instead of doing so the morally bad person listens to them, whether out of interest, amusement, bored or annoyance, but they still hear them out till the end...and expect me not to ship them

Lucy: *holds up two vault suits*
Lucy: Which one is better? This one or this one?
The Ghoul: They’re… the same.
Lucy: No! This one has a different shade of blue! And there’s more texture in this one! Are you blind?!
The Ghoul: *squinting* Apparently.

In addition to finding her dad's love of Cooper Howard annoying, I also headcanon Lucy annoying her dad by mangling his idol's name, in the way we all (used to) do it to Bendydick Cucumberpatch.
Hooper Coward
Cooties Honolulu
Pooper Outhouse
Norm would rate them for creativity, and occasionally chime in with one of his own.

I think there's some real fridge horror (pun intended) to how Norm ends season 1, because no one is coming to get him - he's trapped. No one who cares knows where he is, and the overseers of the 2 other vaults are former Vault Tec staff who can explain away his disappearance.
S1 ends on the dilemma; does he die of dehydration/starve in the cryo room or does he get in a pod to be cryo frozen. The last shot we see of him is weighing that decision, because once he's in a pod the power to control whether he'll wake up again is out of his hands, and at best he's a hostage. As fun as the joke is of waking everyone else up is, Norm doesn't have the control override to open the doors, him being able to open all the pods isn't even presented as an option.
There's no one who is coming to get him; Lucy might in the far future, but she's on her way to New Vegas and doesn't know what was going on in the 3 vaults and doesn't think of her brother as someone to be rescued. Chet is in Vault 32, and while he knows something is wrong he deliberately chose to remain ignorant and be in a romantic relationship with Steph. We see how Hank treated Rose for leaving him and going against Vault Tec, it's easy to assume his care for Norm only extends up to not disrupting Vault Tec operations.
I'd love to see Norm in s2, his uncovering a mystery while dealing with Vault politics was one of my favorite plotlines, but I think it's equally as possible that we never see him again and his fate being left uncertain is one more horror of the Fallout show universe.

I really love Maximus so much. I love how he isn't a clear cut hero like Lucy or a jaded asshole like the Ghoul. He's someone who WANTS to do the right thing, but he constantly struggles with actually doing the right thing because of the choices that he's given in the Wasteland. Unlike Lucy, he is quite a bit jaded and very untrusting. He will kill someone if they threaten him and he won't hesitate to do it. If there's something he wants or needs, he's willing to take drastic actions to do it, but despite his occasional "selfishness" or even vindictiveness ... he is still ultimately someone who wants to do the right thing. He is willing to sacrifice himself to protect others.
I guess if I'd have to describe the main trio in simple terms ... Lucy is someone who values goodness above all else, whereas the Ghoul values strength and the ability to survive. And Maximus sits in the middle in that he believes that the only way to be and act good is to become strong and that in order to be strong, you need to do things that aren't necessarily "good."
But when push comes to shove ... at his core, Maximus is a good person, I think. I feel like after traveling with Lucy, he's been exposed to someone who was truly good—someone who encouraged him to be good more than being strong and who showed him that goodness is a form of strength. Such as when she encouraged him to return the fusion core.
And it'll be interesting to see how his character develops in season two. I imagine him and Lucy will be entirely separate for most of the series as Lucy will go on her character journey with the Ghoul whereas Maximus will be with Dane.
We know that the Brotherhood of Steel is a "complicated organization," but we don't know that much about Dane and their personality... but I definitely think that Maximus now feels out of place with the Brotherhood after expierencing the kindness of both Lucy and Vault 4. Not only does he desire the comfort and safety both provide, but he seems to be more morally challenged and less assured of the Brotherhood.
