RP Pro Tip 3:

Anyone who’s used Tumblr for more than 5 minutes knows that it uses a block of lines on the left side of a text post to designate comments from different users. When these start to build up, Tumblr automatically switches to reblogging posts as links to keep the dashboard looking clean. Roleplayers know that reblogging posts as links is a no-no (or did you miss that tip?) and reblog all of their posts as text. However, this means that extensive conversation can build up.

Untrimmed posts look like this:  

Not only is it an eyesore, the text is distributed one letter per line. That means they go on forever and require a tedious amount of scrolling to bypass. How do you trim posts?

Place your cursor in front of the first letter of text on one of your previous posts, two or three posts before your current one.

Select all the text above and delete it. Some people delete everything, including the URL links. I generally try to keep the URLs properly lined up with their quoted text.

It’s easy, folks. For the sake of common courtesy, do it. Everybody has their own preference for how far back to trim posts, but depending on the length of the posts in question, 2-4 is ideal for keeping the dashboard clean.

This is something that was bugging me a little bit so, as always, I’ve decided to make an infograph. 

Maybe other artists disagree, but when I ask for a request, it’s a fun game. You give me a suggestion and I build on it. It’s a team project. You don’t know what you’re going to get.

If your request takes longer than 3 sentences to describe, it’s not a request. It’s a commission. It’s something so specific, the artist will essentially be working for your specific scene for free.

And of course - DO NOT REQUEST THAT AN ARTIST DRAW YOU SOMETHING if you don’t see that they are specifically accepting requests.

People have been requesting free art from us our whole lives. We’ve had plenty of that. If we want to draw you free stuff, we’ll let ya know. Don’t just assume we have free time - just like you wouldn’t come up to a doctor at a grocery store and ask them to examine your twisted ankle.

Unless you’re a person who does that… in which case… don’t do that either.

   Leslie stared numbly at Pam and gave her a few slow, long nods. Something about her looked... off. Dazed. Of course, she had had a few drinks since she had arrived at the restaurant alone, but maybe a few was actually much more? No matter. She was still in the depths of despair and nothing was going to bring her out of it.

   She squinted at Pam, as if trying to read her mind. Somewhere deep down, she felt like she could. This continued until Ann noticed them through the window and tapped on it, saying Leslie's name and giving her a disapproving look... To which Leslie frowned. Heavily. (Ann then turned to respond to her call again, taking a few steps away.)

   "Okay, okay," she said, sighing, "I'm really sorry about this, I just--" a pause, her eyes glancing across the table covered in unopened gifts, "--I planned this year's Galentine's Day to be really special and it's blowing up in my face." Another pause, this one shorter, "And I may have binge-drank my body weight in champagne."
