Absolutely obsessed with the idea that Emmrich was so preoccupied with wondering if he could actually build a body for a wisp that he didn’t think of what that means after the fact.

Like yay! It worked! Wisp in a body! It’s sentient! Look at his boy!

But what he didn’t think about was then having to baby proof his apartment in the Necropolis.

Little baby (I mean he’s the same size but he’s new to having a body) Manfred has just learned how to walk and hasn’t fully mastered the art of balance. But there’s so many sharpened dges in the apartment that could cause harm to an open skull; table corners, bookshelf sides, doorknobs, etc.

Not to mention he has clumsy feet and there are so many piles of books that are stacked here and there and they must be cleaned up so Manfred doesn’t fall and break a femur or two. But books are also not safe on the shelf where they belong because Manfred now has little grabby hands that want to pull and tug and tear.

And we can’t forget how many breakable things Emmrich absolutely has in the apartment. A whole collection of skulls, decorative urns, glass jars full of Stuff and Things, vases with flowers, tea cups, the fine china, the everything. So now anything breakable and sentimental must be moved out of reach.

And much like a regular baby, Manfred sees A Thing and immediately it must go in The Mouth. And Emmrich isn’t concerned about Manfred choking on anything, he is a skeleton after all, but it’s very likely something could get wedged in the bottom jaw or even crack a tooth if he bites.

So Emmrich quickly goes from Eureka! to very tired dad over the course of one very long afternoon.

But, finally, after Manfred seems to have worn himself out, Emmrich can finally relax and sink into the very plush cushions of his drawing room chaise when he hears a little bit of scurrying and a curious hiss. He looks over and sees that Manfred has gotten into his begONIAS MANFRED, NO.

After Veilguard, Manfred continues to learn and grow just as he did before, as a being in the living world and also as a mage.

And he starts to gain more independence, and to learn from teachers apart from Emmrich.

And, eventually, he becomes a full member of the Mourn Watch, and then a senior member.

And he takes on his own proteges, spirit and living, and teaches them everything he’s learned.

And, one day, Emmrich dies.

And Manfred, as his son, tends to his body and his grave with the same reverence for the honored dead that Emmrich taught him.

And as long as Manfred remains in the world, he carries on Emmrich’s legacy in his own actions and those of his endless chain of students, each one given the love and care and support that were the foundational gifts his father gave him.

This, too, is immortality.

can I just say

I appreciate that Neve is so buttoned up and poised when you're out in the wild - her hair is tied back, she's veiled, she's wearing some kind of high necked jacket or robes, gloves, a cunty little hat

And then as soon as you get back to the lighthouse she's got her hair down, her tits out, and she's halfway through her second pot of coffee

Truly one of the women of all time, god I love her

And then at the end of the race they make out sloppy style shake hands like true platonic gentlemen.

So, it's canon that Davrin used to race aravels from that one banter he has with Bellara. Take into account that one concept art of Rook and Lucanis, and clearly that means that Davrin and Lucanis would 100% race gondolas while they're on a date in Treviso.

Currently I am looking for Emmrich dialogue so that I get a better feeling for writing him and I just found this gem of a dialogue between him and Bellara:

Emmrich: Are you interested in alchemy, then, Bellara? It's a fine hobby for any young mage!

Bellara: Not really. I just need something that can dissolve copper.

Bellara: Oh, um, but I'm sure alchemy's fun!

Emmrich: Ah, those happy hours testing acids in the mortuary chambers.

Emmrich?? I know he probably means dissolving acids and not ... *acids* but now I imagine him and Johanna just tripping balls.

Thinking about a Rookanis wedding got me thinking about if/how Lucanis would propose. And now I am torn between imagining it as a beautiful, touching moment and imagining it as an absolute disaster where everything that can go wrong does, leading him to get more and more stressed and Rook more and more confused until finally Illario has to yell from the other room, "For fuck's sake! He's trying to propose!"
