Graffiti and hip-hop are closely intertwined subcultures, and the influence of hip-hop on graffiti is significant. Hip-hop culture, with its elements like rap music, DJing, breakdancing, and graffiti art, emerged in the 1970s in New York City. Graffiti became the major visual expression of the hip-hop movement. Here are some ways hip-hop influenced graffiti:
1. STREET AESTHETICS: Hip-hop's focus on street culture and urban life provided graffiti artists with a platform to express their art in public spaces. This was a big deal because those rebellious artists who were extremely good had the opportunity to showcase their works to a larger audience
2. TAGGING AND WRITING: Graffiti artists often began by creating tags or "throw-ups," which are a direct reflection of the calligraphy found in hip-hop's early typography and logos. These has building blocks of letters of the alphabets from different cultures
3. SELF-EXPRESSION: Both graffiti and hip-hop emphasize self-expression and rebellion against societal norms, making them natural partners in creative subcultures.
4. SUBVERSIVE MESSAGES: Graffiti, like hip-hop lyrics, can carry political or social messages, making them vehicles for protest and commentary.
5. COMMUNITY AND IDENTITY: Both graffiti and hip-hop fostered a sense of community and identity among artists, helping them connect with like-minded individuals. Crews have always been very important in graffiti; making artists learn and grow together as they work in solidarity
In the Ghanaian context, other art forms that closely resemble graffiti (according to the style, process or materials used) have been practiced still following some of the aesthetics of graffiti. As a tool for change, communication, statements and straight up rebellion, some artists are currently working in their spaces to speak the hidden language of graffiti/pseudo-graffiti. Nuances of graffiti subculture even in the art itself like sticker-bombing, markers, Posca-felt drawing, stencil and even charcoal graffiti are done in the country. Popular spots like ‘under overheads’ and slum-like areas amongst others are getting the rich attention of graffiti writers. Although the visual art aspect of Ghanaian Hip-life culture did not grow with the music genre, graffiti still remains as the relevant art form that describes hip-hop in general. Throwups are now becoming popular and with a pool of graffiti writers doing that, massive pieces will be all over the country in the next three years

WHAT WE SAVE SAVES US ALL
Introducing my latest artwork: a depiction of an environmentalist advocating for our planet's well-being. Behold, a stunning black lady wearing a sleek grey sleeveless top that features an inspiring inscription, "WHAT WE SAVE SAVES US ALL." Her expressionless face speaks volumes about her dedication to the cause.
In the backdrop, a striking grey hue dominates, while a vibrant orange circle radiates behind her head, symbolizing her enlightened vision. Adding a touch of personal flair, you'll notice my signature love symbol sticker adorning her left shoulder, and a cheerful smiley sticker on her right shoulder, reminding us of the importance of optimism in the face of challenges.
As the artwork comes to life, fire sparks gracefully dance around her, symbolizing the urgency and passion that fuels her mission to protect our environment. Through this piece, I aim to convey the crucial message that our collective actions have the power to make a positive impact and save our world.
🌟 Join me in celebrating the dedication of environmentalists worldwide, as we work together to create a sustainable future for generations to come. Let's ignite change and inspire others with our commitment to preserving the planet!

THE ONLY SOLUTION TO POLLUTION IS YOU!
In this piece, I present a stunning portrayal of a black lady, her expression filled with surprise and determination. Her hands cover her breasts, symbolizing the preservation of her identity and dignity. What catches the eye is the small green globe delicately held in her mouth, representing the Earth, our precious home.
With golden rings on every finger, her joined hands convey unity and collective responsibility just like Captain Planet and the planeteers. They serve as a reminder that we all have a part to play in combating pollution and preserving the planet for future generations.
You'll notice my signature love symbol sticker, carefully placed on her groin area, as a representation of the connection between humanity and the environment. A yellow smiley sticker rests her left breast, symbolizing the hope and positivity that can be achieved when we take action.
Amidst the artwork, a few fire sparks flicker, signifying the urgency of the issue at hand. And on the left side, the powerful words "THE ONLY SOLUTION TO POLLUTION IS YOU" are boldly displayed, encouraging viewers to recognize their personal responsibility and the potential for positive change.

Let this artwork serve as a reminder that each of us possesses the power to make a difference. Together, we can be the catalysts for a cleaner, greener world. Share your thoughts and join me in taking action to protect our planet!

Title: Atewa For Rest
In this environmentalism artwork, see the pretty woman with vivid green hair, symbolizing the foliage of the endangered Atewa forest in Ghana.
Amidst the greenery, ladybugs and other fauna find refuge, reminding us of the delicate ecosystem that needs our protection.
With my signature love sticker on her cheek and a smiley pendant, she silently urges us to take action and stand for nature's preservation.
Behind her stands a signboard declaring "Save Nature, Save Yourself," emphasizing the interconnectedness between the environment and our well-being.
Let's unite in the cause of conservation, raise awareness, and #SaveAtewaForest and any other forest together!
On a good note-
50k hectares of forest was saved last year

Presenting a powerful portrayal of environmental consciousness, this artwork captures the essence of our connection to the Earth. The composition centers around a captivating black girl, her contemplative gaze fixed upon the viewer. Covered with a white cloth with intricate purple dot patterns, symbolizing the delicate balance of nature, she lies in quiet repose. A subtle yet impactful detail, the artist's signature smiley sticker rests playfully on her cheek, while a love sticker covers her right nipple, evoking the importance of nurturing our planet.
Her regalia tells a story of strength and unity, as gold earrings and necklaces gleam, showcasing the Adinkra warrior sword symbol (Akofena). This emblem of courage and vigilance reminds us of our duty to protect and defend our environment. Amidst it all, the cloth bears the weight of a poignant message, boldly proclaiming "THE EARTH HAS RIGHTS TOO." A call to action, a plea for acknowledgment, this inscription serves as a reminder that our planet's well-being is entwined with our own.
Through masterful composition and intricate symbolism, this artwork invites viewers to reflect upon their role as stewards of the Earth. It challenges us to recognize the interconnectedness of all life and the responsibility we hold to safeguard our planet's future.

Getting Up: From Takoradi Into The Mind
Hey friends! Let's take a colorful trip down memory lane, shall we? As a graffiti artist hailing from the vibrant city of Takoradi in Ghana, I wanted to share a little glimpse into my world of inspiration.
Do you remember that mischievous yet endearing character who used to grace the labels of 7UP bottles? Yes, you got it! I'm talking about none other than the legendary Fido Dido (I’m sure not everyone knew his name). With his carefree spirit, funky style, and that unforgettable "cool as a cucumber" attitude, Fido Dido captured the hearts of many, including mine.
Growing up, Fido Dido was more than just a mascot; he was a symbol of individuality and creativity. His laid-back demeanor showed me that embracing your quirks and expressing yourself authentically can leave a lasting impression. Just like Fido Dido, I too aimed to create art that spoke volumes without saying a word. He just fitted where my mind placed him; his white body and baggy shorts with his cool stride made me think of him as a graffiti artist we don’t know.
Takoradi, my playground, contributed its own magic to my artistic journey. From the bustling streets to the serene beaches, the colors and stories of this city became my artistic playground. Every tag I sprayed and every mural I painted was a tribute to the vivid stories that surrounded me.
So, here's to embracing our roots and letting our creativity flourish. As I continue to paint my dreams on walls and canvases, I carry the essence of Takoradi and the free spirit of Fido Dido with me. Let's preserve the earth and keep spreading the message of unity, diversity, environmentalism and self-expression through art!
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. Get ready for more bursts of color and inspiration coming your way!
Extra-
ABOUT FIDO DIDO:
Fido Dido is a cartoon character created by Joanna Ferrone and Sue Rose in 1985. He was originally a mascot for 7-Up and became a commercial pitchman licensed to PepsiCo in 1988. Later, he was replaced with Cool Spot as the 7-Up brand mascot[1]. However, Fido Dido reappeared in the 2000s on cans and advertising for 7-Up worldwide and is still used on cans and advertising for 7-Up in countries worldwide from six continents[3]. In 2018, Fido Dido has reappeared in the Vintage Series cans. Fido Dido is also used on PepsiCo's Turkish soft drink Fruko[1].

WE ARE ARTISTS!!!
we are here; we are everywhere and we don’t apologize. we give you what we want not what you want us to give you (unless we are paid).
we love giving and we will always give. we create beauty; we define aesthetics. we give you a piece of us every time you look at wonder and smile, frown, shrug, vomit„,we affect your emotions. we think- get deeper into our spirituality, we discuss with muses to inspire the generations. we don’t apologize for our actions. we break rules (rules we know). we make rules and break them. we rebel against narrow-mindedness. we continue to exist in our timelines, in your timelines. we motivate you to look at the bigger picture with smaller pupils. we create, we innovate, we build, we do!
we are artists; some good others great- we copy or steal respectively. we don’t apologize. we build upon ideas and create the beauty. we give refreshing imagery to the stressed. we are artists- we are everywhere
