Adrien was used to getting picked on for his lack of voice. Mer-folk from the Coral Sea mocked him for being stupid enough to trade his voice for a one-sided love, even though his home never would've allowed him to leave the sea let alone fall for a human.

Some days he was okay, smiling away, but sometimes it hurt to be reminded of what he lacked and what he was stupid enough to give away. Hell, he nearly gave away his life if his brothers didn't sacrifice their hair for his life.

"..." An audible breath from his nose is heard, looking over to Dorian where he starts to perk up.

Taking his notebook, he flips through a few previously written pages to slide over for the other to read.

"Do people in the Coral Sea really think I'm stupid?"

"Baba!" The little girl giggles as she wraps herself around his leg. Her bright eyes gleaming up at him. She reaches up for him before holding up a little pouch tied up with a pink ribbon. "I got you um- a rock! It's a green rock and Mama said it's good luck! For Baba's day!"

"Oh, if it isn't my precious girl!" The foxian man laughs as he kneels down to admire the rock in her hands. "Ah! Why look, my diamond, it's jade! It's a lovely gift, just as lovely as the gift mama gave to me. That being you, of course!" Helping her keep her pouch safely to her, the foxian lifts her up to kiss her cheek.

"Why don't we thank mama together? After, you can watch me work today! I sell pretty things just like the rock mama gave." Not really but let his daughter think he actually does honest work.

The light in Adrien's big blue eyes suddenly gleamed with relief that at least one of his classmates came to his rescue. Even better was that it was Dorian!

He gives a nod of his head, smiling to him now that he won't be stuck somewhere without much of a means to come home. Quickly glancing down to his notebook, he scribbles a few words for the other to read:

"Thank you, Dorian! I'm glad you found me. I was starting to worry I'd still be lost by the time we're supposed to go back."

"Adrien, there you are!"

Dorian heaves a sigh of relief. One moment he and Adrien were walking side by side, the other the silent merman had disappeared in the time it took Dorian to corral a group of rowdy Octavinelle first years.

Thankfully, the redhead hadn't gone too far.

"Are you alright?" He asks softly, resting a hand on Adrien's shoulder.
