Marilyn Monroe with her ex-father-in-law, Isidore Miller, at John F. Kennedy’s birthday celebration in New York City on May 19th, 1962.
For almost the entire evening, she was by his side. Her main concern that evening was that he had a chair, something to eat, and was able to meet the president.
Arthur Miller recalled that it meant the world to his father she chose to invite him, he wrote: “In 1962, after our divorce, Marilyn took him as her escort to John Kennedy’s birthday party in Madison Square Garden and introduced him to the president. My father would treasure a news photographer’s picture of the occasion: Marilyn stands laughing with her head thrown back while Kennedy shakes hands with him, laughing with spontaneous, innocent enjoyment at what I am sure must have been one of my father’s surprising remarks.”
When the evening was over, she dropped him off home, asked him to visit her new home in Los Angeles, and returned to her home at 4am. Her masseur, Ralph Roberts, was waiting for her.
