Forget Streaming, Return to Winamp

I hear some of you are getting a little tired of the streaming service gauntlet! Did you know you can play mp3s with Winamp 5.6x, a very old program that plays songs perfectly fine from your PC, where your songs should be? (Newer versions add bullshit, you can decide whether you want that, but you don't.)

Did you know I made several really fucking good Utena Winamp skins? That aren't even on the website anymore because I broke the Multimedia section trying to make it easier to update in 2009? They might even be older than you, dear reader. I show my work hunting through my own website for shit I just forgot was there in a thread on Something Eternal, but if you just want the sauce:

Pictured in the order I made them, the first four are AT LEAST as old as April 2002. The last three were made in 2006 and 2007. All of them are in this 2mb ZIP, a comically small file for content I spent a small fortune hosting back when 2mb was a fucking massive amount of data, lmaaaao.

Perdí las llaves de la habitación

Las tenía en la mano, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos ya no estaban

Las busque por la cocina y por el baño

Moví la cama de sitio y revise cuidadosamente cada parte

Se perdieron aunque tenían un llavero grande y colorido.

Ya la trate de abrir de todos los modos posibles

Metí papelitos entre la cerradura y con fuerza tire de ellos

La golpee con el hombro pero no se movió ni un céntimo

Incluso he tratado de mover las bisagras y sacarlas de su sitio

Pero la puerta se niega a cooperar.

Ha llovido mucho estos días

Granizo se desparrama en las calles y se vuelve nieve dura

Deje la ventana con vitrales abierta

La lluvia está empampando las estanterías con monagitos

Las sillas se humedecen y la madera se pudre

La vajilla con restos de café se resbala de las mesas y se rompe al caer al suelo

Escucho a través de la puerta el ruido de las cosas dañándose poco a poco

E impotente solo traro de abrir la puerta.

Cuando veo el pasillo noto las puertas cerradas

No es la primera vez que pierdo llaves por eso temo por la habitación

Son tantas que me marea

Quería mucho conservarla pero he perdido las llaves y no creo encontrarlas ya

Escuchando en el pasillo lo único que puedo hacer es pensar

He pensado mucho que quiero hacer con esta casa de puertas cerradas

Por un lado las habitaciones siguen allí solo que cerradas con llaves que no tengo

Pero siguen ocupando un lugar en esta casa mal construida con goteras que dejan pasar el frio en la noche

Esa habitación era especialmente cálida y cómoda

Me duele mucho perderla

Pero me duele más conservarla mientras desaparece

Tal vez es momento de no estar más en esta casa

Pero no tengo otro lugar

Sentada en la sala escribiendo estas palabras

Me siento cansada

Cansada de una casa que ya no se siente mía

Una casa con puertas cerradas

Así que he decidido que no quiero una casa de la cual no tengo llaves

Prefiero derrumbarla y construir una nueva

Una que se sienta cálida sin necesidad de habitaciones con llaves.

The fat innkeeper worm is a type of marine spoonworm found in shallow waters along the western coast of North America from Oregon to Baja. It lives in sandy, u-shaped burrows where it feeds on detritus. Animals like shrimp, crabs, clams, and other worms often share this burrow, giving rise to the common name “innkeeper.” Due to its appearance, it is occasionally referred to as the penis fish.

I’ve completed my latest 1-bit survival horror piece and given it more of a game-style HUD for some added effect. 🙂

This is a project I started back in 10/2023 and, while it took far longer than I intended to finish it, I’m really pleased with how it turned out. ☺️

I created 9 pieces for AARP, illustrating "Chase: A Michael Bennett Story" by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge.

This was one of the first commissions I got after graduation and the largest one among them. I had a blast creating this series as I've always been a big fan of the Thriller/Mystery genre, and painting these pieces felt like I was directing a detective show of my own!
