Today I am sorting through catalogues of catalogues on Old Master Drawings & Prints and Early Printed Books and Manuscripts so I can clear this shelf trolley and place them in their home in the library. I have been meaning to do this for nearly 6 years now. It is taking a long time as I am flicking through ALL the catalogues to see what is in them. I cannot wait to do some lives with you all showing some of this. Today was @kuretakejapan box sorting. This is 1/2 of my Kuretake Zig products. I say 1/2, this is the small stuff. There are 14 MASSIVE boxes of #zigposterman markers in various sizes. So this is how I start my day, thinking about the letter for today for the reels. I thought it would be a little insightful for you to see the process. I have breakfast thinking it through, making sketches, with a Bic Ballpoint, starting with the letter in its simplest form and then adding some historical stuff then some flourishes. I then go to the studio and look at some historical studies from my years of research. I taught an excellent Copperplate Script Workshop on the weekend. New set up, new recoding system, multiple camera angles. It will be up and available soon! During the workshop I wanted to show the students something more specific about the basic strokes and had to pull out an old handout from 2006. I wanted to see what the difference would be if I redid it with a Hunt22b and a Gillott303. Gillott 303 is the first image, then 22b, then the original. I have 17 sheets in this pack some of them dating back to 2001, 2003 & 2005. I can see bits of my 4Fold Symmetry in here but nothing substantial and certainly nothing overarching. PAScribe Challenge This weeks’ version of the #pascribechallenge is the Lorem Ipsum text written at 3mm. Writing smaller is more difficult and requires a more intimate knowledge of nib-ink-paper interaction. I commented on all the posts from last week’s challenge so here’s to hoping you are up to this weeks’ challenge. Now that you see how much I put into it I need you to - Write at 3mm xheight at 55degrees List which nib, holder type, paper, ink you used.
