Hi everyone, it is I swaglord1000 here to bring upon you all some bad news. Pas de Deux will be closing. This comes from a variety of factors that I hadn’t accounted for when I first began. I took on a lot as one person, and I didn’t integrate mechanics in the best way possible. From this experience though I have learned so much and I cannot wait until I get to RP with everyone again.

This was my first time admining a tumblr RP, and the welcome and warmth I received was overwhelming. I’m very grateful to call you all my friends. I will be closing down Pas de Deux, but with plans to reopen / revamp next year (hopefully). Everyone who has joined will, of course, be welcomed back with their original characters when the time comes. In the mean time you can find me at @aureacor , I will be following from @qiulann however because tumblr is dumb and qiulann is my main blog haha. 

I plan on opening an RP in the future related to Slavic folklore in magical imperial (but separate from real history) Russia. If you wish to write with me I’m currently at Seancerpg writing for the character, “the widow.”

“There’s nothing here.”

“Look again.”

A thought is not a crime until actualized — a report is not complete until the subject has had investigated thoroughly. Freedom does not come easily, nor does it come silently. The revolution had paved way for a greater society, a place where all could be equal. No person mattered more than the next; no life that would try to ruin that is worth protecting.

“Is this necessary? I can attest to anyone’s character I — ”

“We have reason to believe that a handful of the Bolshoi’s employees are spreading false rumors about the State. Unless you wish to meet the same fate as Sacha, I would suggest you turn away.”

She picks up a letter, recently sealed, and holds it up to the light. 

“ If you ever find yourself in Moscow, perhaps you will not find my presence so unsavory. It would be nice to see you. “

The letter is placed in the same location as it had been picked up. There is nothing more important than camaraderie. 

Simultaneously a line of doors shut, and a voice shouts out above all others.

“Next.”

While the writing above does not correspond “directly” to this task I thought it would give you all a bit of insight as to what was happening while you away at the event.  For this task however, you are required to tell us what your character would have in their “bag” aka what’s their essentials,

Must have at least six (6) items written about. Name & brief description and/or history. Maximum of ten (10) items.

Feel free to use images !

For spy gadgets, they should be cleverly disguised items. In your post let everyone know what it appears to be, but in my DMs please let me know what it really is. I do have the power to reject any idea if it seems too unfeasible / unreasonable. Feel free to DM me any ideas you have.

Task is due February 8, 2021 | this is a mandatory task.

The next event will begin February 11, 2021. It’ll be a doozy.

December 15, 1961

Far from the warmth of Hotel Veikiy, your apartment offers no glimmering chandeliers to assuage a long night’s events. For some, the bed is the first place the body lands, for others — it is the floor which bids you farewell. The light flickers on and off, like a code that has yet to be deciphered and yet with the twist of your hand it illuminates your room the way it was made for.

For some however, it reveals more than what you left behind.

Eugene , Viktor , Marilyn , Elizabeth , & Yelena : rolled 6-9

You arrive at your rooms only to find something had been disturbed, as though someone had rummaged through your belongings. However, you don’t know what they have taken, if they took anything at all. 

Everyone else : either rolled 1-5 or 10+

Fred, you know that no one investigated your room as you rolled an 11. For everyone else, they might have investigated your room — but you did not roll high enough to know.

I stated this in the discord but please know that the Veikiy event has ended! if you need more time to do create starters please let me know to keep me in the loop. While the event has ended feel free to keep RPing these threads. I will be posting an event summary once the majority of Veikiy threads are finished ! Please try to get them done by February 3rd , or at least at a far enough place where I can recap the night.

I am currently writing the plot drop & the next task. New threads may be made outside of Veikiy from the dates December 17 - 24, 1961 in game. 

December 25, 1961 will be when the next event is dropped and is the OPENING NIGHT OF THE BALLET. More info to come!

LOCATION: Veikiy Hotel

TRIGGERS: Parental death

In the line between love and obsession lies a man whose heart bleeds with everyone soft spoken word uttered. He recalls fond memories of a childhood bathed in glorious reunion, and the sweet touch of a mother unburdened. The sea follows her as she walks her lonely walk to the graveyard in which his father (a kind man), and her husband (a dutiful solider) lies cold, and unmoving within the confines of the earth.

“Where do people go when they die?”

She looks at him with a solemn look, eyes kind and full of tragedy. 

“Nowhere, Dimitri.” Her blue dress touches the ground and suddenly all that which had been holy comes crumbling down. “We will return to nothingness in the end.”

A question teeters at the back of this child’s mind — a series of questions he does not yet fully comprehend. As his mouth moves, only one sentence forms.

“I don’t want to die.”

“It is not up to us to decide this.”

“Then whose is it?”

She does not respond, but he finds his answer anyway.

When his daughter is born there is pride and fear in his eyes, and at that moment he knows he would consume the world for her. 

When her mother (a kind woman), and his wife (a loyal patriot) passes on, the world cries with him. Pavel, his dearest friend sits beside him silent as a statue. Anya plays with her toys and looks at him with eyes full of confusion and despair. He watches as she tries to form sentences, but the words seem to die at her lips. Dimitri is grateful for this — he laments at their stories diverging.

In a small house on the outskirts of Moscow lies a family of two. A man who believes the world can change with the utterance of one word, and a girl who used to believe in fairytales. Their days are spent quietly and without disruption. When the ballet arrives and Anya transforms into the ghost of her past, Dimitri is not one to squander an opportunity.

— The Veikiy Hotel is grand, but not extravagant and the dancers who glide on tiled floors reminds him of that faraway sea, the crashing of waves and the silence of sound. He follows their every move, a wary gaze cast upon those who do not appear as one of their own, but the soft light of an orange hued sunset brings with it a softness he does not expect. But when his eyes meet hers, the room is set on fire. He has come to this celebration for two reasons: to love and to destroy.

Event timeline: Posts should be should recorded in character between 7:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The actual event out of character will last from January 18 to January 26th. No new thread should be made after the 26th, but threads already established may continue. Please tag all starters with #deux.veikiy

Location & Time: I will be keeping a time log with all the events that are happening at the party, you must provide an exact time of when a conversation begins and ends. Threads: These are your normal IC interactions, as your civilian self. You can roll against each other here.

Spy Threads: Agents, you have been given your assignments. For some of you, certain actions will need to be made on your spy blog. To record your character’s time & location please submit information to this google form. If you have any questions please let me know.

NPC Interactions: I will be playing as a few NPCs. Civilians are encouraged to talk to these NPCs as they might/will divulge valuable information even for a non-spy. For any NPC you may speak to them only once. Please follow @deuxnpc to interact. If in a group setting, threads will move / start in Discord. Either I will DM you, asking if you would like an NPC interaction, or you can DM me for an NPC interaction.

Plot Drops: I will carefully be reading all threads — I have certain plot drops that will be triggered by a character being in a certain room, or at a specific time. I will post in the Plot Drop channel with a description of what is happening. This may happen after I call for a location check, or as I’m reading interactions between characters. I will not interrupt a scene if I do not think it’s appropriate, but it will be a mechanic I use to help move the plot forward and keep things interesting.

Rolling for/against: Before you start a thread, please discuss if you will allow your writing partner to roll against your own and how many times they will be allowed to do so. This can be done in DMs.

I thought we had until 6pm MST?

Hi !! It was until 6:00 pm mst, but the writer who needed a bit more time decided to rescind their application for the time being. Today’s acceptances were based on those who had asked for an extension yesterday as well as those who already submitted their application on time (as the actual deadline was supposed to be yesterday). 

If you placed a reserve but did not DM me for an extension I did not include you into this round, however, you are still free to submit an application. I am currently looking for one (1) more player to join us !!

Oh god Marlowe, truly you were born to be a writer.  Rowan is such an exquisite character to read, I feel like I'm soaking in tub that was hand crafted just for me.  Everything you write fits to nicely and thematically with your character, everything word has nuance and every period has meaning. Your writing style is also :chefkiss: amazing. I adore Rowan and I cannot wait to see how they interact with the other characters.

When I wrote the undoer I envisioned them exactly as you wrote Zoja. One part girl, one part god — what else could anyone ask for?  Her transformation from child to adult was done artfully, and the way in which you incorporated  Soviet history into her backstory makes me swoon. You did such a wonderful job Lulu, and my heart races when I think about her.

Agafya is a matryoshka doll. You said it in your application, and I will say it here again. You breathed life into the shadow, and I couldn't be more happy with how you did so. The way you described her using only tv tropes was inspired and I very much enjoyed reading how Agafya fit into them. What hijinks will occur with her on set, we'll have to find out hoho.
