Pasefika Adrift
...formerly ninetyone adrift.
So beautiful to see images of my beloved South Pacific being recycled around this site in a major way.  Most probably because they look cool/swaggy/fit with the other pictures on the blogs of people that reblog them, but that's neither here or there.  The fact that images of Pacific people who aren't just doing the hula in coconut bras, or getting put on stage or in front of the camera like an exhibition of cultures that were lived out at one point in time, but are now merely a form of entertainment for fanny-packed tourists, is enough, it's the point.
This blog used to be run by two of us, but due to life (and forgetting about this completely...our bad) it'll be just me on the decks.
Can't promise a lot, but will try my best to continue to bring to the light a South Pacific most of the world doesn't think/know exists.  And hopefully contribute to the solidifying of our importance to this Earth and it's people.

This Manti Te'o thing
is weird. And it's not actually the story (whatever that is) that's weird.....it's peoples overzealous-ness to feel they should report, comment or have some sort of feelings towards it, that's weird. Came across his name on a facey status one day, and all that came to mind was Manti sounds like Mintie sounds like MINTIES + Samoan last name... I shall Wikipedia. Little did I know googling his name on a whim would throw me into a never ending black hole of BREAKING NEWS and SHOCKING REVELATIONS and a severe misuse of the word bizarre. Is he creating weapons of mass destruction in his garage and planning to blowing up this whole joint? No? Then let the goings on of his private life...be. Coz you know, it's private? And do people really think this kind of shit isn't going down everywhere..if you're really looking for weird, you only have to look next door, at the people on the bus, at your family (or at your liked posts). - L

Hi folks!
As some of you may know, I’m a bit of a make-up fan and love scrolling through blogs. So, imagine my surprise when I come across this:
Huh?
If you’re from New Zealand, then you’ll probably know about the Maori moko and the significance they hold within the Maori culture....

My nana dug up a whole lotta good lookin' taro out of her garden
this evening.
In Auckland. New Zealand.
Where it takes an entire childhood for anything to grow...let alone taro.
Today is a good day.
