Queen Elizabeth Memorial
Lord Norman Foster's design team has been announced as the winner in the competition for a memorial to honour Britain's longest-reigning monarch, to be built in St James's Park in central London.
The winning design for the national memorial for Queen Elizabeth II will also feature her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, alongside a traditional statue of the late Queen.
Another key part of the winning entry is a translucent bridge inspired by the shape of the late Queen's wedding tiara.
The chosen design is multi-faceted, with a separate statue of the Queen and Prince Philip, gardens and a Prince Philip Gate, along with a main monument to the late Queen to be built beside the Mall.
The design, chosen from a shortlist of five concepts, is a balance of "traditional elements and modern elements, informal and formal", says Lord Robert Janvrin, chair of the memorial committee and the late Queen's former private secretary.

On 20 June 2025, the Council of State was held at Christiansborg Palace. HM The King presided over the meeting of the Council of State, which consists of all government ministers, and HRH The Crown Prince, as the adult successor to the throne, took his permanent seat in the Council of State for the first time since the succession last year. At the meeting, His Royal Highness signed a declaration under section 8 of the Constitution to “steadfastly abide by the Constitution”. The Crown Prince signed a similar declaration shortly after his 18th birthday in the Council of State on 14 November 2023, but the Crown Prince has since become the successor to the throne, and therefore the declaration is made again.

HAPPY 43RD BIRTHDAY TO MY KING HRH THE PRINCE OF WALES, WILLIAM ARTHUR PHILIP LOUIS (b. 21 June 1982) ♡
Wishing the happiest of birthdays to HRH Prince William, the future King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth Realms, our fabulous Prince of Wales, the doting dad to three precious little sweethearts and Queen Catherine's devoted partner and husband. I’ve admired William for as long as I can remember - his grace, his compassion and the way he handles all the craziness with such calmess and strength. Growing up as a 10 year old firmly in her fairytale Disney era, he was THE PRINCE and quite possibly my first celebrity crush (something that still hasn't changed lol). He is such a wonderful husband and father with the way he always supports and stands by Catherine & in the way he’s raising George, Charlotte, and Louis with all the love and care. He might have been born a Prince but he's a partner and papa first and that's one the best things about him. His commitment to the causes he supports and the real world impact his work is having is just commendable. He's not the flashy announcements and media kind of guy, he just comes out does the work, empowers people, listens to them and does everything he can to bring about positive change in their lives in any way he can. This past year hasn’t been easy for the Wales family but seeing William's strength and the way he has taken care of and supported his wife and protected their little family has made me nothing but be proud of him. He's kind, warm, hardworking, loving, funny, fabulous, charismatic and I cannot wait for him to be King William V with his Queen Catherine by his side. I hope he has an amazing day surrounded by his family and loved ones and filled with lots of love and laughter. He deserves that and so much more. Happy Birthday Wills, love you and cheering you on always ♡

Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales shares a personal and heartfelt message for Children’s Hospice Week
We’re delighted to share a heartfelt message written by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales for this year’s Children’s Hospice Week.
In it, Her Royal Highness – who is Royal Patron to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) and Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in South Wales – invites members of the public to join her in celebrating the life-changing work children’s hospices do.
“No parent expects to hear that their child has a serious health condition that could shorten their life. Sadly, this is the reality faced by thousands of families across the country, leaving them heart-broken, fearful of the future and often desperately isolated. “Being able to access the support of one of the UK’s 54 children’s hospices means they don’t have to face that future alone. “As Patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in South Wales, I have the immense privilege of seeing for myself the extraordinary work of our children’s hospices. “Lifting spirits through laughter, fun and play, as well as listening, holding, caring and sharing, they support children and families through life, death and beyond. “This Children’s Hospice Week, I hope you will join me in celebrating the life-changing work they do and thanking them for the vital care they provide to children and families experiencing the most challenging times.”
We’re really proud to lead Children’s Hospice Week, which is the only week of the year dedicated to raising awareness of children’s hospice services. It’s an amazing opportunity for us to unite these vital services, celebrating the lifeline care and support they give to seriously ill children and their families day and night, all year round.
Our Chief Executive, Nick Carroll, said: “We are incredibly grateful to The Princess of Wales for celebrating Children’s Hospice Week, and the amazing work of children’s hospices, with her personal message of support this year.
“Her ongoing support for Children’s Hospice Week over many years has helped to raise much-needed awareness of the life-changing work children’s hospices do, every day of the year. Their extraordinary lifeline care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses enables families to make the most of their lives together, whether that’s for years, months or only hours.
“Together with all the children’s hospices, we thank The Princess of Wales for her invaluable contribution.”
Irfon Rees, Chief Executive of Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, said: “We are deeply grateful to The Princess of Wales, Patron of Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, for her incredible support.
“Her Royal Highness is clearly profoundly committed to the needs of children and young people, and in January, during her first visit to our hospice as our Patron, her kindness and empathy were evident.
“Having HRH’s support during Children’s Hospice Week means that not only can we take time to celebrate the difference that children’s hospices, including Tŷ Hafan, have made to the lives of so many families, but that we can also remind people of the importance of supporting their local children’s hospice so that no family has to live their child’s short life alone.”
Kevin Clements, Chief Executive of EACH said: “We’re so incredibly grateful for The Princess’ invaluable contribution as our dedicated Royal Patron.
“Her ongoing support and vast profile have projected our charity onto the global stage and this latest message is a perfect way to mark Children’s Hospice Week.
“It’s a great opportunity to shine a light on the work of children’s hospices generally, as well as giving us an opportunity to raise awareness and remind everyone of the need for public support, given we rely on donations for the majority of our income.”
The Princess became EACH’s Royal Patron in January 2012 and Royal Patron of Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice in January 2025.
