Set up the shot and pressed record. Used first takes only for guitar, keys, bass, drums and trumpet. Just chopped the jam coz it went for over 6 minutes. I was looking at the stars before the drum takes and some words and melody popped in my head. I use my Genjutsu time bend illusory resample technique on this joint. This technique was influenced by Itachi Uchiha's 'Tsukuyomi', I heard the sound in my head and made a chain in max for live to create the sound. Made it during covid times, in lockdown and been using it live for over 3 years this the first released recording of it utilised in a song. I have made a number of other recordings exploring this new style in greater depth, before this track. While primarily influenced by anime, it's similar or builds upon studio techniques first utilised on Hendrix albums. Conceptualised in a different way, giving more control of time parameters in real time. Live, I use it to spontaneously create new displaced improvised sections, creating a new groove, which works great with a rhythm section to explore new directions. Used it at my live set for the launch of Live 12 this year, with Maru (drums) and Waari (bass). Lyrics: 'I had a vision, said it was the future, descended from the stars, planted in a dream'. Produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Pataphysics. In the lore, this is one of the most powerful Genjutsu's, drawing someone into represent the "Spiritual World and Darkness". Controlling the persons conception of time.

Replacing the thief & caitiff William Doran – who could not even make his own session – is trumpeter Pat Marks, aka Pataphysics (also a dedicated activist, investigative reporter & rapper), who weaves a mantic of coiling effects riddled avant panache through the brass shotty.

The four tracks traverse an ornate, inventive & unpredictable mosaic of Glyph-Hop, Scolopendra, complex break-beats, scuttling & dextrous poly-rhythms, omni-tonal patterns & super fast, technical & gracile swing, bells, bones, blocks, artisanal gongs & gangan (African talking drum).

Conjuring a resilience ritual amongst a fire fly swarm from the enduring remnants of a triumphant tribe playing on cymbals dredged from an old ship wreck on make shift gear in a derelict cathedral erected by the repelled & vanquished former colonialist settlers during the longest night of a Pacific summer equinox …. yep! Live 12 Launch - Ableton Sessions Melbourne

I got some shows coming up. The first will be at Miscellania on the Saturday the 27/01/24, 9pm-3am. It's a fundraiser for Renegade Solidarity Audio Force is a volunteer crew of Activists, Artists, Musicians, Dj's and Sound System Operators. Will also be playing a song or 2 with the homie Nazeem Hussain. A final work in progress show before his tour starts! Ticket sales will be donated to Olive Kids to help children in Palestine. Negentropic Development - 9gates x 9Dimes

Been building with the brother Efren Pamilacan from Cypher Culture on a new project. His movement been is informing the process, been cool writing new music with a new sound for this. Also been enjoying the role of dramaturg, researching and writing a sci-fi is something I've wanted to do for minute. We Still in development. Refining the vision. Ableton Push 3

Thanks heaps to Ableton for sending me a Push 3. Features on a single standalone device I've been wishing for over a decade. This the first joint I made on it. Recorded entirely on Push, using the built in interface. Mixed with Live audio effects. Set up the shot and pressed record. Used first takes only for guitar, keys, bass, drums and trumpet. Didn't fix any notes, just chopped the jam coz it went for over 6 minutes. I was looking at the stars before the drum takes and some words and melody popped in my head. Might put an extended version up on youtube or streaming.

Spicks and Specks

I'm on the latest episode of Spicks and Specks (Series 10, Episode 8). Got to perform some of my favorite jams! One of them maybe a @Kaiit song 😏

Started versions of Hendrix's 'Machine Gun', then 'Castles made of sand' and 'Ain't it Funny' by @Jlo. But it was suggested people may not get them. Also a Sam Cooke joint but was already taken. Was fun learning, playing and recording versions of these songs.

SUBVERSIVE x 10 years

A decade ago I released my 'debut' album, 'Subversive'. Back when words in rhythm and rhyme schematics were my prime focus. Was an epic time, that shifted the trajectory of my life. Toured the continent, sold out launch, got listed among the top albums released that year, made album of the week on multiple stations, singles making no.1 on charts, got played and love from around the planet. 100% Independent release, no label, no grants, no funding, D.I.Y everything! (Still ain't got not grant) Feels good to share art, while its fresh. Eternal thanks to everyone who played on the record and help make it into existence. So.crates : Malcolm After Mecca

The brothers So.Crates worked on a beautiful album which they dropped the other month. The launch was love. The name of the album, Malcolm after Mecca = El Hajj Malik El Shabazz. Reference, to a state of consciousness which represents a pinnacle and a highest expression of being. Encapsulating a deep understanding of the social, political, cultural, and material conditions that exist in this world. Perceiving these forces in real time, with the ability to express and engage with them, creating ways to change and challenge these paradigms and systems in meaningful ways. We see this fully expressed in the last stages of the life of El Hajj Malik El Shabazz, when he was willing to work with anyone who genuinely wanted to build a better world. He traveled the planet building with world leaders, creating solidarity with African Nations, Cuba and Palestine. Global revolutionary work, that began from his community. The precision and clarity of his critiques still ring true today. They speak through time. An integrity, passion, insight and humor which is rare. Read the 'Autobiography of Malcolm X' if you haven't. Listen to his speeches. A source of power when your spirit is low.  🖤
