Can I just go crazy over this for a minute?? I absolutely love how you drew him here, OP, this is pretty much exactly how I imagined him based on his description in the novels…. The handsome yet mask-like face set with too-perfect teeth, the dark hair and deep set eyes, the muscles that are more primal strength than model athlete. The way that some of the features look like they draw from Mads’s while fitting his novels self is amazing. The broken teacup porcelain of his skin looks almost one-dimensional when you look at the cracks, the bite in the pomegranate, the mythical promise to remain in the underworld, in the realm of death and shadow….. the way the pomegranate tree leaves look like knives and a gaping maw of teeth a moment from swallowing all at once. His monster breaking even him….. the empty eyes

The fisherman becomes food for the fish and the cannibal is eaten. There’s incredible irony in that, but a certain beauty, too. Hannibal’s cannibalism (and pathological cannibalism in general) is rooted in ideas of superiority over other people, over “the order of things”. But he also has an almost whimsical way of viewing the world that straddles the line between philosophy and conscious delusion. He was genuinely amused and interested in his conversation with Mason about his plans to cook him— he’s able to be utterly objective like that, and fear is not an issue for him with trains of thought most would find disturbing. The idea of being part of something greater, of being what allows a chain of other creatures to live and thrive in the great ripple effect that is the world turning day by day….. I think he’d find that more than palatable, especially since Will would’ve met the same end, fueling the same cycle and the same creatures, truly blurred via others once and for all. In a way, consumption is reminiscent of reincarnation on a cellular level— you are being redefined, unconsciously, and your life becomes something else’s now. There is no ending there, in a way, only transference. Only another becoming.

Not to sound like a fuckin hippie but please for the love of god start noticing and appreciating the natural world around you. You don’t have to go hike the entire Appalachian trail or anything and I get that not everyone has access to the outdoors for various reasons, but just fucking … look around you when you’re outside. Notice the sky and the sun and the birds and creatures. Start caring about them. I’m begging you.

One of the wildest Hannigram shot sequences in the entire series is in the dinner scene in S2ep10. It has Will seductively licking the flesh of a man he beat to death with his bare hands off his fork while smirking at Hannibal and Hannibal smiling about it like a blushing bride. Like okay just say you both want to taste some long pork that’s under the table instead of on it already
