yes, i know leona’s character preferences says he doesn’t like dealing with kids (pet peeves), but that doesn’t automatically mean he dislikes children. dealing with kids is a lot, ik people who love children but dislike dealing with them because it’s tough and they can be troublesome.

furthermore, i interpret their likes and dislikes/pet peeves based upon what the character tells us in the stories. for example, rook hunt’s least favorite food is garlic, and during beans fest he says he avoid aromatic foods because it can draw his hunt to his scent, but when offered shawarma, a very garlicy meal, he still eats it. malleus’s least favorite food is full birthday cakes, not because he dislikes cakes, but because it is tied to his loneliness and the fact he spent his birthday alone. jamil’s least favorite food is dates because he found a bug among them and he hates bugs (his pet peeve is having to touch them which like sameeeee bestie). dates kinda look like roaches when you’re a kid, which probably furthered his dislike of them after the bug incident but does that mean he would hate dates when made into a paste and put into certain dishes? well, i don’t really know. silver’s pet peeve is “idleness” not because he isn’t an idle person, but because so much of his time is eaten away by his condition, the moments he is awake he pressures himself to put them to good use.

leona found cheka’s presence suffocating since he probably got stuck dealing with him when he was going through a lot. cheka has more claim to the throne than he does and that bothers leona, but he also has to watch over him since the kid adores him. that doesn’t mean he dislikes kids.

A fantasy story starting with the protagonist minding her own business gathering firewood, when a demon appears out of nowhere announcing that she belongs to him now. The protagonist demands to know on what grounds, she's never signed no damn contract. The demon is kind of baffled by this, and awkwardly explains that just now her father had promised his firstborn for something, and she is his firstborn.

The protagonist digs her heels in and says no, she never knew her biological father and by the way the demon explained the situation, evidently her father also doesn't know that he already has a daughter, so therefore the man who had made no contribution to her life after he bred and fled has no claim to her as something he could barter.

Not giving a shit about the fact she's gambling her life in doing so, the protagonist makes contact with the local woodland fae, asking them to negotiate on her side. The fae think that this is fucking hilarious and go with her. So, having lawyered up and with a reluctant demon in tow, the protagonist heads off on a quest to find her father and do whatever it takes to wrangle everyone involved into unmaking the contract.

One thing I've seen a lot of people talking about is that all the SSR cards are actually pictures that Yuu took with their ghost camera. Is this actually confirmed in-canon or is this just a fan headcanon?

Wellllll, that depends on how you interpret Crowley's explanation of the ghost camera in prologue-19: "[The ghost camera] enables the user to photograph not just the subject's physical form, but parts of their soul itself. They're called Memories. Here's the thing: when the soulbond between photographer and subject deepens... The Memories captured in this magic camera's photos come jumping out! When the photographer and subject grow closer, their photographs grow animated like videos... And sometimes the photographs take on corporeal form and slip out."

Strangely, the manga adaptation of Twst NEVER has Crowley giving the ghost camera to Yuuken (whom we experience the prologue with). We just immediately transition from Grim being granted his own magestone to Yuuken being asked to supervise Grim. (In the game, Grim got his magestone and THEN Yuu was given the ghost camera; the manga therefore skips the ghost camera gifting altogether.)

The light novel, does have a similar description about the camera "[capturing] parts of a subject's soul". However, Crowley does not mention the image slipping out This is true of both the JP text and the EN text.

To me, this reads as an in-universe explanation for game mechanics like being able to put an alternate version of a boy on your homescreen or reading vignettes rather than indicating that Yuu takes pictures that become the SSR cards (but it can definitely also be interpreted that way as well). This in-universe explanation also helps to feed the self-insert or parasocial aspect of Twst, as Crowley stresses that only by deepening your (the player's) bond (ie Vignette Level) with the subjects (ie the boys) can you glean more information about them. This is also supported by the fact that non-interactive mediums like the manga and light novel have no mention of the ghost camera’s images coming to life and slipping out. Outside of Crowley's explanation in the prologue, there's little suggesting or confirming that the SSR cards are photos that Yuu themselves took.

The Groovies are typically associated with vignettes, most of which don't involve Yuu or, if Yuu does appear, not in a major capacity or in a context in which they would be taking a photograph. (Then again, I guess you could argue the Groovies are the Memories in motion or replaying and technically would not require being still photos by Yuu.) The initial card artworks are more likely to be images that Yuu took, since those are less attached to a vignette and more to an event (where Yuu typically does appear).

We do explicitly see Yuu using the camera to take pictures of Mickey and fellow students like Rook (in Port Fest), as well as in promotional materials like the second year anniversary video. Various artists like to draw fan art of how Yuu is able to take the pictures (with increasingly silly methods and angles). Yuu being a photographer and documenting their memories at NRC is an important and recurring concept and a rare point or characterization for the blank slate, so it makes sense why the fandom would want to flesh it out more.

I apologise if this has been asked before, but do you know how the staff usually address each other? Do they ever call each other by first name, or by "Professor xyz", or just by their surnames alone? And speaking of which, how do the teaching staff address Crowley? Do they call him just "Headmage", or "Headmage Crowley", or even ever just his first name?

And by any chance do you know if there's there a difference in between the Japanese voice lines, the texts themselves, and the English texts?

Sorry, just curious coz we don't get much interaction between the staff in the Books, vignettes or even in events really... I do hope Book 8 will change that, or even future updates in general.

In JP, Crowley refers to Trein and Crewel by “[surname] sensei”. For example, “Crewel sensei” or クルーウェル先生. Crowley also calls Vargas “Vargas sensei”, but in the English localization, this is written as “Coach Vargas”. The English localization also has Crowley calling the teachers “Professor [surname]”, so Crewel would be “Professor Crewel”. Crowley calls Sam “Sam-kun” or サムくん but just “Sam” in EN.

The other staff share similar conventions when addressing one another. In JP, Trein, Sam, Crewel, and Vargas all call the other teachers “[surname] sensei” and Crowley “headmaster” or “principal” (gakuenchō/学園長). In English, this becomes “Professor [surname]” and Vargas is always “Coach Vargas”. In both EN and JP, the teachers call Sam “Sam” and Crowley “headmage”.

It’s considered rude or a breech of Japanese etiquette for professionals to refer to one another by first name or without an honorific at work. This explains why the NRC staff use “-sensei” at the end of each teacher’s surname but are able to drop the honorific for Sam, who is not an instructor but rather a shop owner and technically operates outside of the school workplace. Crowley is the only one who uses an honorific for Sam because 1) Crowley is in a much higher position of power than the teachers + is much older than Sam, the youngest NRC staff and 2) Crowley is just silly like that; using “-kun” with Sam is like giving a term of endearment. This same logic may explain why the staff tend to refer to Crowley only by title and not name; it may be a sign of deference to his authority.

Day 4 - Gaming ft. the other housewardens

They're not playing any real game, just like a generic online DnD kinda thing. I've got a basic idea for what their characters would be (and I mean BASIC, I had to research character types) but other thoughts are very much welcome!

Do you have any headcanons for Leona and Vil's wedding, like their clothing, where it takes place and how big it was?

Oho! Wedding thoughts! ✨

I’d like to think there would be two weddings. A private and an official aka one for the heart and another for the people.

The private one is mostly organized by Leona to keep the things simple and give Vil a true day off that he can fully enjoy. It is hard to force Vil to give up the organization of his own wedding, no doubt the argument has to be something but Leona stays adamant and only allows him to take care of minor tasks.

The setting is a fancy cabin near a lake lost in a snowy wood and no more than ten or so guests. No pictures will be shared, this wedding is theirs and theirs only.

The official wedding is a regal one in Sunset Savanna. A full day of festivities broadcasted around all Twisted Wonderland. For this one, Vil is mostly in charge of, dealing with the royal family to avoid any bickering between Leona and his brother. Leona suffers in silence and regularly looks at Vil dressed in wedding attire of Savanna to remind him that the whole ordeal is worth it. Surely one of the biggest event of the year.
