I was just in rimworld and three vampires asked for a safe place to meet and offered to pay for my hospitality with a brand new giant flat screen tv.
They are currently chanting around a red candle in my living room, and I think this might have been a bad idea.

I'm in year 2 of my 3rd RimWorld colony (we don't talk about the 2nd) and I finally got the resources to go on my first quest to get some loot cache.
We arrived and it was suspiciously chill. No predators in sight. Only a few racoons and squirrels roaming around. It looked like a Disney movie.
And then we were ambushed by a gang of... bunnies. They emerged from the ground like feral zombies. Luckily we were well equipped so we won. They did get a couple of scratches in though.
I have so many questions. Did they plant the loot and plan an ambush? What are bunnies gonna do with 4 advanced components?
For now I'll just assume there's an enemy colony ruled by intelligent and blood thirsty bunnies out there and live the rest of my life in fear of revenge.

I think this might be the end of my first Rimworld colony.
It was a happy place. Lips, the herbalist and medic, and Ironhead, the gunsmith, had just gotten married. Chareca adapted nicely to life at the colony after spending most of his life as a wild man. And we had just recruited Fenna, a former space traveler from an enemy colony.
Fenna was assigned to mining, and he loved it. But he unknowingly broke into an ancient Megaspider hive, and the spider people were not happy about that.
This colony was a peaceful place, so people were not prepared for a sudden attack like that. They did their best but eventually lost the fight. Not even the mysterious arrival of Remy, "The Man in Black," could save them.
The worst part, though, was the death of Barbarino, the colony's cat. Especially after he had recently survived the attack of a wild man called Coffey, who broke in to steal some food and was angry when Ironhead tried to arrest him. He swore vengeance and immediately took it out on Barbarino, permanently damaging his tiny paw. Luckily, Ironhead neutralized the threat, while Lips rescued tiny Barbarino just in time. He recovered nicely but was unable to fight back when the spiders attacked.

I always upload the wins, but I feel the "getting destroyed" bits are equally important.
I don't count my deaths, because it'd be too discouraging, honestly. But let me tell you, there were a lot of deaths. This video only shows a small fraction of what it actually was.
Had so much fun, though.

This was such an epic arena, and boss, it inspired me to practice and get good enough to make this fight look as epic as I could.
There were 3 main things that helped me win this fight:
Crucible Feather Talisman: I just couldn't dodge some attacks, like that initial charge attack. I always dodged the first half of the boar and then got trampled over by its back legs. This talisman really helped me out with that.
Practice rolling only: I spent a while going in just to try and dodge every attack without attempting to land a single hit, just to learn his move set and get the timing right.
Stagger him: I figure out I which heavy attacks I could land on each window he gave me so I could eventually stagger him. That was effective but mostly satisfying and encouraging.
That initial charge, though... It was so hard to get right.

One of the best things I experienced in this DLC was being introduced to the shadow people with shiny pots in their heads. I know... They are lame, but hear me out!
They would immediately run away, cry, curl into a ball, and disappear. I felt kinda bad chasing them down.
But what I loved about this is, in a later part of the game, I saw another one. He looked exactly the same. Except his pot was not shiny. Spoilers ahead.
I stop to take a better look, only to get completely destroyed by a freaking pot in the face.
That's just immaculate game design.

Another really satisfying fight that took a ton of practice.
The key against the Putrescent Knight for me was figuring out the 2 or 3 attacks that can be jumped over and combined with a jump attack. That made the fight more fun, although it took some time to get the timing right.
Then, it was a matter of learning to dodge those annoying frost flames. And patience. So much patience.

This took way too many attempts.
I stuck with a combination of jump attacks and frost for the first phase.
The second phase was more about sneaking in any little bit of frost I could while panicking and healing.
In the end, she died of a cold, apparently.

I did it! I unlocked all achievements before the DLC release. Now I can enjoy it for a few days.
The last one I was missing was the Elden Lord achievement, so I had to finish the game a third time.
I decided to make the most of it and try a completely different build with focus on INT and STR, and using the Dark Moon Greatsword.

Now I'm ready for the DLC.
I love this game.

Only 2 left!
And I just need to beat the entire game again to get them.

I decided to come back and unlock the 4 achievements I'm missing before the DLC comes out.
One down, three to go.

My mimic has no chill.
I was confused because she was taking too long, so I turn around and see her randomly attacking the local fauna.

For the second phase, I chickened out and called the mimic, although I don't know if it helped much.
Loved both fights. Both epic and challenging enough.
