One pretty cool thing about Clair Obscur is that it's neat to have a jrpg with adult protagonists. These folks ain't skipping fantasy high school to save the world. They'd have a mortgage, if they weren't on their last year before being Logan's Run'd by the large glowing number.

In fairness, this is JJ Abrams we're talking about here. His "Plan" for Star Wars could easily have been an interesting setup that disappears into it's own mystery box somewhere just past halfway... So kinda like what we got except the middle part probably wouldn't be good .

Now this one I found a couple of times in Thereafter. There's some fear going on in the city after the end, but this one is mostly rhetorical. I just love characters Going Off on eachother

The world ended hundreds if not thousands of times over not a month ago, and now everyone is trying to get along while the question where next week’s meals will be coming from are very much up in the air,” Michael didn’t intend to chide Felipe, but once the rebuke started he found it very hard to stop. Hell, part of him didn’t even want to stop it. “It’s… a tense and difficult situation, you know?” “Yeah…” Felipe said, he looked away, or at least Michael assumed that’s what the slight head turn was meant to convey. “I get it.”

I was trying to find out why I vibed so hard with the prologue to Clair Obscur. Then I realized the setting was a town that was built out of the ruins of a larger city. Oh yes, this is a French, single origin Thereafter we have right here. Just add some villainous molemen and morally sus wizards and we are ready! to! rock!
