PAS DE DEUX  is an upcoming, literate, skeleton roleplay inspired by The White Crow, Red Sparrow, Tinker Toy Solider, The Man From U.N.C.L.E and spy movies in general. ✦  The RP will focus heavily on character / plot development by exploring themes such as the cost of war, defining virtue, beauty & aestheticism as deference, and the difficult choice between duty, loyalty, and love.

when it comes to connection prompts for OC's, will you be coming up with them for us or will we have to include our ideas for them within our application?

Hello! I was actually going back and forth between this one but I think that if you want to write a few prompts for your character in the plot development section of the app that’s good with me. I’ll of course look them over and let you know if anything needs to be changed, but otherwise you may use those connections for your character.

 However if you don’t have any ideas for, or you don’t want to write them, I’ll create them for you.  Hope that helps!

I’d love to hear more about maelstrom

OOO I love the Maelstrom. So my idea for them was actually inspired by Hamilton’s - Hurricane. They’re someone who tragedy seems to favor. However unlike Alexander, they’re not optimistic about their future. They don’t have faith in their own talents, even if they had to be talented to join the Bolshoi Theater. Because they have not achieved solo or principal dancer yet they feel as though they have failed at the one thing they thought they were good at.

In terms of their tragedy and how they dealt with it, they’re kinda like Sisyphus, however at this point in time the Maelstrom is done pushing boulders up hills. They’re jaded and a little vindictive, and if the world won’t be kind to them, they won’t be kind to it. They somewhat get schadenfreude from other people’s misfortune, and it’s all in some vain attempt to feel better about themselves. They’re not a nice character, they’re intense and they are selfish but underneath everything they’re so so so vulnerable and frightened and angry. Terrible things have happened to them that wasn’t their fault, and no matter how hard they tried to stay positive, it never helped. So they’ve decided that if ruin follows them, so be it. They’re the center of the whirlpool, who cares if other people get hurt.

But this is my understanding of the Maelstrom, you might have a different interpretation of what it means. So long as it follows I guess the general vibe, you’re good to go :)

just wanted to drop by and say thank you for creating a world that combines everything that i love so dearly, espionage and ballet. between creating pages and answering asks, i know you've got to be busy, but i hope you're finding time to rest and breathe and stay hydrated !!! relax your shoulders, take a breath; you've made such a beautiful thing here, make sure you're also looking out for your beautiful self as well <3

if we use one of the skeleton's aesthetics/background loosely for our character but don't fully stick to it/alter it a lot, would you consider that an OC or skeleton app? also, just to clear my anxiety, if you consider that an OC, will it have less of a chance of getting accepted opposed to someone who really stuck to the skeleton's mold?

I would be more inclined to say it’s an OC if it’s altered enough. Additionally I will not be choosing applications on a. who best fit my version of a skeleton’s backstory (there could be different interpretations of each one) and b. if it’s a skeleton. OCs and skeletons will have an equal opportunity to be chosen.

I will be selecting applications based mostly on if they bring something unique to the team. e.g character motivation, backstory, and development :) If you ever want to run an idea past me first I’m more than happy to help.

hey annie! when it comes time to decide on apps, aside from the things you've mentioned, will things like the russian/american ratio matter or affect your decision? for example, are you going to prefer 2 russian and 2 american principal dancers, or would it be okay if all 4 accepted are from one country?

Hello! To answer your question I’m looking for more or less an even ratio of American to Soviet nationals. While not opposed to having 3 principal dancers being from a Soviet state, at least 1 of them would need to be American. Additionally, in general I’m looking for the same ratio of 1:1 American to Soviet nationals. It probably won’t end up being 6 to 6, but I’ll be choosing characters largely on that proportion. can i just say that i absolutely love the vibe of this group already??? you have crafted this elaborate world and i anticipate stiff competition because surely people will create an abundance of compelling characters. yet it doesn't feel intimidating or overwhelming which is the pitfall of many lsrpgs. so kudos to you & i wish this group all the best, even if i'm not accepted!

I’d love to see prompts for veiled, sacred and dream because I’m stuck between them!

The Veiled: receiving expensive perfumes and a self reflection on how they have grown out of poverty. working with a routine client at an event or party. describing their true passion; something that isn’t ballet. a resignation letter that has been thrown away

The Sacred: 1:00 am and you’re walking home, you watch as couples hold hands to protect themselves against the cold. practice in a studio; the gaze and eyes of everyone watching you. being known as a star even as a child, the happiness and then the eventual sorrow.

 The Dream: A letter written to their missing father. things they have taken photos of and their significance, an actual dream they’ve had - or a nightmare, what do they desire the most? What are they planning on doing after their ballet career?

Hello! Reservations last until acceptances. They’re mainly there so other people can see what is generally being applied for. Additionally the acceptance date will be chosen after I receive 5 applications (most likely two weeks after that goal, so probs around early January if I had to guess?)
