queerbating is a term for fictional characters that are written with inherently queer traits in order to widen the fanbase without actually making a statement about or effort to include queer characters or narratives!! (the only example i have in mind right now is stiles from teen wolf because you cannot tell me that dylan o’brian was not playing a bisexual character) but a real person cannot queerbait because they dont owe you a statement about their sexuality!!

once more- fair play to the boys because a) that was hot and b) its a powerful statement to make, to actually take a risk for something you believe in rather than the passive activism so many musicians tend to favour
