Guys can i tell you something and ask your opinion (I understand if you don't wanna read all that👇🏻💀)

So there's a guy (what a start) that I've known for a few years. We live nearby, have mutual friends and run into each other often. Back then, I was told he kinda liked me, and I thought I might like him back if i got to know him better, even tho he's not my type, but friends to lovers stuff yk. Spoiler: I didn't. I am not someone who has a lot of admirers, so to say, and i get really awkward around guys, especially if they show some attraction towars me, so i kinda distance myself to not feel stressed. So, one day, he confronted me about not being as interested in talking as he is, so we stopped interacting for a good two years.

Everything was great, but a month ago, this guy started texting me again almost every day. To make everything clear this time, I told him I'm not ready for our communication to be closer than just good acquaintances. He agreed, but after that, he texted again, asking me to go out. I got suspicious, but then told myself it's fine, maybe im thinking too highly of myself and he just wants to have a friend, bc I actually enjoy his company, just without attraction. So we've met four times, just drinking coffee and having conversations. I never gave him any sign that I might be into him romantically, but ig it was not enough... Last week, he gave me a handmade gift for Vday, which is really cute, but from my point of view WE'RE FRIENDS. I felt really weird and bad, so i told him I'm flattered, we can just go out like we did before, but I don't want to give him false hope. Now he's not talking to me and it feels like I really offended him. I feel so guilty. Am I dumb and naive?😭 or he really refused to listen to me and was delusional... thank you for reading👹

You know Lockwood's little arm-slide-hand-hold thing? You know how it seems to be subconscious? Maybe he's reaching for Lucy's arm first to prove to himself that she is there. Often, he does this when something dangerous is in front of them, and he won't remove his eyes from the danger. So he reaches for Lucy without looking. He needs to know she is there, but he can't break his gaze from the threat. And of course he needs to physically hold on to her. Of course he needs to assure his nervous system that she is still beside him. Because everybody else he loves isn't. Because every time he thought he saw Jess in a crowd, it wasn't her. Because he saw his parents under the apple tree and it wasn't them, not really. Sight, his Talent, is an illusion. It lies, it lies, it lies. But what is solid is real. What your hand can't pass through is real. So he grabs Lucy's arm, lets his hand slide down into hers. A reminder that she's real, she's breathing. A reminder that he's real, after all this time. After all that hollow ache in his chest, after being a shell for so long, he's alive and he's breathing and he knows that because he can hold Lucy's hand. A ghost can't hold a human's hand.
