i've just started new meds, last month i got a diagnosis that made cohabitation expensive and hard, and i'm completely broke. the tl;dr is: i'm homeless again.

i struggle with chronic pain and a visual impairment, it makes job hunts an uphill battle. i'm currently unemployed and not eligible for other sources of assisted income. my new medication increases risk of heat stroke and we're hitting 40ºC/104ºF most days over here, and it's a treatment that will make long walks difficult because it causes muscle stiffness as a side effect.

i'd like to afford food and occasionally rent a place to stay overnight when i can't move around or it gets too hot. this is all the money i have to my name.

been saying this for years but I hate how ubiquitous "low fat" "no fat" "low calories" etc shit is in stores. I do not want your no fat 0 calorie yogurt, what a waste of money! give me full fat yogurt! extra fat! 1000 calories yogurt so I can meet my daily needs. stop taking the nutrients and shit out of food, that's literally half the point of food. why do so many food companies hate food.

Honestly, I’m feeling disgusted by this world. Mind you, the few trucks that are coming in keep getting looted by gangs, and GHF/IOF has been relentlessly continuing this cycle of massacring aid seekers. None of the countries mentioned above are doing anything to break the siege and send aids to Gaza!

With all this going on, this is a shoddy attempt to wash their hands of any responsibility.

There is a pervasive ideological construction that someone either deserves autonomy or support, but that these are mutually exclusive.

This artificial construction is extremely present when it comes to discourses about age and ability. People will discuss taking away choices or censoring information as "protecting" young and disabled people, and will discuss taking away material support as a necessary exchange for decision making (e.g. "if you live under my roof, you live under my rules"--a threat that asserting autonomy comes at the cost of homelessness). This dynamic is so foundational to the oppression of children that even when applied to adult groups we use words like paternalism and infantilization to communicate that a group of adults is being treated "like children."

Whenever you demand autonomy, people use this as justification to withdraw resources and care. Whenever you express your need for resources and care, people use this as justification to withdraw bodily autonomy. In reality, all people deserve bodily autonomy and care. And in reality, oppressed people are routinely denied both.

People who perform manual labor should be not only given high and liveable wages, but unlimited access to healthcare and physical therapy to help manage the myriad conditions that come from doing back-breaking work.

Like this is not an absurd concept. It bothers me that people think that it is.
