We've said this before, and we will say it again, the best part of our job is meeting so many wonderful and interesting people who love and share a passion for adventure and the great outdoors and who also love to have a laugh. So what a great way to kick off our #sixfoottrack season with 16 adventure seekers who walked, talked and laughed, and at times dug deep to complete the historic Blue Mountains track over the two days from Jenolan Caves to Katoomba. It was evident from the start of the walk that not even a slight drizzle of rain would dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of this energetic and focused group. It was lovely to finally finish the walk up through the beautiful Nellies Glen to Explorers Tree after the repairs to the large landslide in the section. Hats off to Crown Lands for their hard work repairing that section. Some might disagree when making the climb, but it's a scenic and rewarding way to finish the two-day walk. We are super proud of the whole team. Some started the walk with preexisting injuries, so getting in and having a go was a fantastic effort. But, in the end, having a go is worth 10x more than never having a go at all. The PPA team thoroughly enjoyed sharing the adventure, the interesting conversations and the laughs along the way. We are disappointed we missed the spider incident, but that's another tale. #bowtellsswingbridge was closed last week due to safety concerns, but we #improviseadaptandovercome the Coxs River with the incredible engineering from our good friends at Six Foot Track Eco Lodge Pav & Lucie. Thanks to our friends at Blue Mountains Maxi taxis who always get our teams to the start of the walk on time every time. What a great way to kick off 2023 with a community/training walk up to Heatons Lookout with a group of like-minded adventure lovers. It was exciting talking to people about their adventure & fitness plans and goals for 2023 and beyond; you could sense the passion of wanting to explore new experiences in life and get amongst it. It’s like life has fully kicked back into full gear again, and it's normal again to put adventure & travel plans back into motion again, especially overseas adventures. There were people today doing some big adventures with other operators like Kokoda, Overland Track and Everest Base Camp, so we are glad these training days can also help in fitness preparation and also to gain some valuable insight and knowledge about the trip. The #overlandtrack in #tasmania never disappoints; it's the epitome of an adventure that seemed to have everything. It's without question the most iconic multi-day large pack walk in Australia and a must-do for any adventure seeker who enjoys a little bit of a challenge. Beautiful scenery, changing vistas, unpredictable weather, some challenging features and a bit of bush self sufficiency in putting up tents, cooking and hauling a large pack which is your house for six days, makes this adventure truly memorable. The team did an awesome job working together in sometimes challenging conditions, especially on day one across the Cradle Plateau, where the snow had, in many places, turned to slush, making the going cold and slow. Though the going was tough, seeing the mountains covered in snow was a very special day, especially for November. Aside from that, there were still plenty of laughs and some wonderful adventure memories were made given each day was a whole new adventure. It was an honour and a privilege to share the adventure with such a great group of people. What another amazing week on the #threecapestrack and #tasmanpeninsula Tuesday, which was the first day started out with torrential rain, but visits to the local chocolate factory, gin distillery and other local sightseeing activities filled in the day that wasn't suitable or safe for walking. The rest of the week was perfect weather for walking though. It was another awesome and fun team who got along so well so there were plenty of laughs during the week. What another awesome weekend of adventure walking through the iconic #sixfoottrack in the beautiful #bluemountains. Super proud of the team, they got in and got the job done under the threat of some poor weather, but the weather was very kind to us, with heavier rain as expected, not coming in until late afternoon and into the evening. Mother Nature and the elements have a special way of making us feel alive, that’s why it’s called adventure. Real adventures do not come with absolute predicibility, but that is what gives us growth and confidence in overcoming the feeling that we need to control everything in life, it also teaches us some humility. There were some laughs and smiles as we crossed some obstacles, and there was teamwork which was awesome to see. We've done a lot of Six Foot Track over the years, but the crossing of #bowtellsswingbridge was one of the best on the weekend. The elevated water levels made for a more exhilarating experience, but the team took it in their stride and seemed to love it. A fun morning out on our free community and training walk around the Piles Creek Loop in the Brisbane Waters National Park. We had people training for upcoming adventures with us, people new to hiking and those looking to just get out for some bush therapy and outdoor exercise with like-minded people. What another amazing weekend of adventure through the iconic Six Foot Track in the beautiful Blue Mountains. We shared this adventure experience with another awesome team, so there were plenty of laughs over the weekend and we made some new friends. Because the last section is still closed from Megalong to Explorers Tree, we ended up making our way up the lesser-known and beautiful Devils Hole. The last section is challenging but the team got the job done and were rewarded with a sense of achievement in completing this renowned track. Adventure sometimes means getting out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself because that is where the magic of personal growth and self-confidence happens. We have people who want to go on and complete Kilimanjaro, Kokoda, Everest Base Camp, Overland Track etc. and why stop there, but this is where it sometimes all starts in setting new adventure goals and challenges.
