i know that waking up in the morning can be such a chore ;; it’s always so tempting to sleep til noon and constantly press “snooze.” however, mornings are a nice and quiet bit of the day to enjoy!! here are a few tips to maximize your mornings.
benefits:
there’s so much more time to be productive
if you finish up your work in the morning, you can relax in the evening
early mornings are really peaceful and calm
you can catch a glimpse of the sunrise
you feel happier and healthier
go to sleep earlier
getting adequate sleep will help you wake up early for the next day! i know, it seems like a better idea to stay up really late to finish that one last assignment. but!! i’d recommend that you sleep earlier and wake up earlier to finish it in the morning. you’ll feel less tired and stressed!
wake up earlier than you normally do
idk about you, but if i wake up after 8 or 9 am, i just feel so so sluggish and feel like i lost some precious hours of the morning. i personally like waking up around 6 to 6:30, but other people like waking up around 7.
open up your blinds / curtains
let all the natural light fill your room!! it makes your room brighter and i swear, almost everything looks prettier with natural light. also, natural light is fantastic for taking those studyspo pictures :-))))
drink a glass of water
your body hasn’t had any water for the past 8 or so hours that you’ve been asleep!! drinking a large glass of water after you wake up will fire up your metabolism, rehydrate your brain, help your body flush out toxins, and help you feel refreshed as well.
wash your face with cold water
idk about you but i literally feel half-asleep on my feet when i wake up and i just want to crawl back into my bed and never see the morning light again. washing my face with cold water really wakes me up and makes me feel super refreshed and ready to tackle the day! i also like to brush my teeth too bc morning breath is gross ;;
eat breakfast
eating a healthy breakfast gives you energy to use for the day, improves your memory and mood, improves concentration and productivity, and is good for your overall health bc it reduces risk of type 2 diabetes + obesity (reduces chances of excessive, unhealthy snacking).
lately, i’ve been eating a small bowl of oatmeal with honey, peanut butter, and a little bit of fruit on the side. it’s so so good omg :’) i also make myself a cup of tea to give me a little “kick” in the morning.
turn on some music
idk why but turning on some nice music in the morning instantly sets a nice sort of atmosphere? i like playing studio ghibli music bc it’s calming and happy!
plan out your day
figure out what you’re going to do with all of the time that you have now! i like jotting down my tasks in my bullet journal, but you can just write up a to-do list, use an app, a planner, or your own bullet journal.
get to work!
take advantage of the time you have now to get started on your assignments + projects + studying!
you can also check out my morning routine video to see how i usually spend my mornings!
hope this helped and good luck! if you’d like to request a post, go here and if you’d like to see more helpful posts, go here!! thanks :)

Before Lecture: When you are given hundreds of pages of reading a week, it can become difficult to thoroughly review everything. With that being said, it is still necessary to skim all of your readings (at the very least). If you are assigned journal articles on Canvas, print them out, skim the readings, then identify and highlight the main points. Use Google Docs to compile short summaries of all the readings you are assigned. This will save your life on social science exams that require you to reference the central arguments of a variety of scholars!
During Lecture: Put the date and title of each lecture on the top of your first page of notes. As you are listening to the lectures, write any questions you have in the margins of the pages. Remember to actually ask these questions in recitation or during office hours with either your professor or TA (teaching assistant). Highlight and star any points your professor emphasizes.
After Lecture: Making study guides is the key to succeeding in your classes. This is applicable to high school and college. My medium of choice is Google Sheets (Excel), but you could definitely do this in a notebook or in Google Docs.
Things to include in your notes/study guide:
Summaries of textbook and Canvas readings (be sure to include authors and title for each entry)
IDs (aka identifications or vocabulary…basically these are the types of things you would probably put on notecards)
Relevant time lines/maps
Possible exam questions/explanation of themes/concepts

If you’re in the health science field and haven’t already, eventually you will have to know how to give injections. This is a very common practice and there are plenty of people that cant stand the thought of needles especially inserting it into a person. Its very important you get it right or else it could lead to damages. Here are some tips on inserting needles the right way.

“How To Study.”
A tale told by a physics student. I am really bad at studying. Which explains my somewhat average grades. But i know how to study effectively and realistically have success with studying. Nobody ever teaches you HOW  to study, they just tell you to study. So here is how i do it (most of the time)
There are two ways of going at it.
Stress studying. (studying for exams just the day before and putting as much information in your head as possible just to forget everything right before the exam)
Actual studying. (taking the time you have and study at least 4 hours a day 3 work days a week, and actually get the success that you deserve)
Stress studying
It’s bad for you, your health, and a big cause of bee colony collapse disorder (Don’t ask why). Realistically you’re gonna pass your exams  1 out of 3 or 4 times, and it is just not worth it. It doesn’t just reflect on your grades but also on your work ethic. (which is real bad for your future)
Actual studying
What you need is:
Time.
Studying utensils (quality notebooks and good pens).
A clean and tidy Studying environment.
Discipline.
Time - It’s really simple, plan 4 hours a day of studying 3 work days a week. Don’t be like “But dude! When will i have time for my personal stuff?” seriously. A typical day has 24 hours, If you go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 7 or 8 (that’s 7-8 hours of sleep) you have 17-18 hours left to your day.
4 hours of that is just 23%, taking in account you’d do it at least 3 work days a week it would be just 7% (and a little more) of your precious workday time. So it’s worth it. Totally worth it. Don’t ruin your work ethic just because you want to spent 7% more time on tumblr.
Studying Utensils - I cannot stress enough how important good notebooks and good pens and stuff are. I suffered a lot from this, i wouldn’t take notes, and write down stuff because of how awful it looked on cheap paper with bic pens (no offense bic, your lighters are awesome tho).
It’s not cheap tho, but at least buy good notebooks with that metal round thingy holding it (i.d.k the name of it in English). And go Black instead of Blue, Black pens all the way. Use sharpies instead of the usual stuff, or at least gel ink pens, the smoother it goes the better, and blue pens are an abomination, every knowledgeable person in the past ages has written in black. Oh, and fineliners.
A clean and tidy Studying environment - You have a desk? Yes? Good. Throw everything you have on it to the ground (except you laptop, you wouldn’t drop a baby, would you?). Get a desk lamp, no matter how bright your room is, you need a concentrated stream of light allowing the photons reflecting from the ink on your books to transfer the information successfully to your brain, and desk lamps boost concentration. Make that a working environment, only use that desk when you’re studying (no exceptions) and once you do that, every time you sit by your desk you will automatically start to work.
Discipline - You want to be full on motivated :D ??? Well f*** you cause that’s not happening >:D
Discipline is what you’re looking for. Full on military stuff, just like back in good old communism. Discipline guarantees you success, motivation leads to incoherent success which includes utterly common instances of failure.
I mean look at the definitions:
Mo·ti·va·tionˌ
mōdəˈvāSH(ə)n/ - noun
the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.
the general desire or willingness of someone to do something.
Will you rely on luck and willingness or reason? No, luck and willingness pass, they are not consistent and for every reason there are at least 10 excuses. Don’t be a silly excuse for your failed academic success.
Dis·ci·pline
ˈdisəplən/ - noun
The practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience[1].
A branch of knowledge, typically one studied in higher education.
[1] - The only punishment you’ll receive is academic failure, and not reaching your true, deserving recognition for your true intelligence and social worth just because of laziness caused by day to day stress is punishment enough, i think.
Discipline yourself, push yourself. Don’t wait for something so relative, so passing as motivation. If you’re gonna do something, STAND THE f*** UP AND DO IT.
Just remember RWSR.
Read
Write
Study
Repeat
Cheers,
-Rudescience

PROCRASTINATION
Ever had one of these days where you just can’t get work done, and the smallest thing becomes suddenly very interesting? Because same. That’s literally me, all the time. So here’s a few tips to stop procrastinating, or, at least, to do some productive procrastination.
STOP PROCRASTINATING
1. Find what motivates you
Is it a good grade? Or knowing it helps you reach your goal of becoming whatever you want to become? Or just the feeling of being productive? Define what motivates you, write it down somewhere, and keep it in sight.
2. Prepare your work space
First, clean your desk (or whatever you work on) by removing any unnecessary things from it (I strongly advise you put them where they should be right away, but if you don’t feel like it, your bed will do). Take out everything you need for what you need to do (pens, highlighters, notebooks, whatever) and get a bottle of water (because hydration is super important). If you want, also get a few snacks (try to avoid things that easily spill or stain, you want your school supplies to stay clean).
3. Put yourself in good working conditions
Open the curtains if you like to work in natural light, put on some nice background music, open the window, turn on the light, anything that helps you feel comfortable.
4. Set a Pomodoro timer
That way, you stay focused on your work, you can take small breaks to do whatever, and you’re more productive.
5. Start working
I promise it’s not as bad as you think. Avoid thinking negative things such as “this assignment sucks” or “this is so useless, why do I even have to do that”, because you’ll just be more reluctant to do what you have to do anyways. So, go for it, with positive thoughts, and it’ll be done in no time!
PRODUCTIVE PROCRASTINATION
This is what I do when I really can’t put myself to work. It happens to all of us, and it’s okay (except if your assignment is due tomorrow, then get off Tumblr and go do what you have to do). The concept of “productive procrastination” is all about still learning things without using the traditional school way (aka, making me not feel bad about doing nothing all day). If you really can’t (like really) get yourself to work, find another way. Watch educational YouTube videos, read books about your subject, watch movies and TV shows that relate to what you’re supposed to be studying. Like, I don’t know, if you’re studying the Vietnam War, watch Full Metal Jacket (even if you’re not studying the Vietnam War, watch this movie, it’s great). Do something that has something to do with what you’re studying.
FEELING BAD ABOUT PROCRASTINATING
Did you spend your day doing nothing? Like, literally, nothing? That’s not brilliant, but don’t feel too bad about it. It’s okay, you’re human and you’re not perfect. So, forgive yourself, move on, and try to do better tomorrow. Studying on a daily basis can be really hard if you’re not used to it. Give yourself some time, and you’ll get better at it. In a few weeks, you’ll feel perfectly okay with studying, and it won’t be something annoying anymore!

So, I’ve been a studyblr actively for a couple of weeks now, and I’ve been lurking in the background for a while. So I thought I’d compile a list of things I’ve learnt about being a member of the studyblr community!
1. Aesthetic isn’t everything.  Yeah, having pretty notes is great, but when the majority of your time is spent making your notes look pretty instead of actually retaining the information, then it’s not a very productive use of your time.
2. Don’t compare yourself to others. Okay, so you see other people in the community with immaculate handwriting or perfect notes. Or you see people with thousands of notes on their posts. Don’t beat yourself up if your handwriting isn’t the neatest, or your notes aren’t perfect, do the best you can and as I said before, aesthetic isn’t everything.
3. Use what you have, it’s not all about fancy supplies.  So, mildliners look cool, and muji notebooks are pretty. But, if you’re like me and live somewhere where these things aren’t easily accessible, it’s not the end of the world. They may photograph nicely, but it’s not all about how nicely things photograph. If they don’t function and don’t work for you, then you’re not getting the most from your studies.
4. Don’t be afraid to talk to other members of the community.  We’re all here to help! We all started out somewhere, so I can almost guarantee that there’s someone out there who’s been in a similar position to where you are now. And if you can’t find someone? Be that someone for someone else, because you won’t be the last person to be in that position.
5. Set reasonable goals.  Not everyone is able to get consistent A+’s, we’ve all got subjects that we’re not good at (mine’s anything maths based). Focus on your strengths and set small, achievable goals to help you reach your bigger goals.
6. Do your best!  At the end of the day, the reason the studyblr community is around is to help each other and to motivate each other to strive for the best. Because at the end of the day, we all just want each other to succeed and the only way you’ll do that is by doing your best!
I hope this post managed to help at least one person, because I know when I first joined the studyblr, I got quite disheartened because my notes weren’t the prettiest or my handwriting wasn’t the neatest, but after being active for even just a couple of weeks, I’ve already learnt so much.
