Love My Chemical Romance? Here's why you should check out Dead Boy Detectives
I've been a MCR fan for about 12 years now and I know what kinda people we are, ok, so hear me out.
First of all, watch this motherfckng trailer.
youtube
The fact they used WTTBP is the actual reason I decided to try it, no lies. And now that I have, if I watch this trailer again, I will cry (not a joke).
But besides that, here's the list of things you'll find in DBD that, as a MCR fan, I just know you're a sucker for:
ghosts, duh
death (she, in fact, shows up as a character)
thoroughly depictions of hell
sexy villains
deep rooted trauma
goth lesbian
homoeroticism
codependency
pretty boy with anger issues
It's on Netflix, it's campy, it's queer, just do yourself a favor and go.

i know we keep saying tour of healing but i can't help it. kintsugi tour. tour of healing old wounds and massaging away the ache from old scars. tour of picking up those old, dusty songs that never felt like they were yours - that were released without your consent, that never felt like fall out boy, and reclaiming them, letting them crease anew into your skin. tour of taking songs once packed to bursting with spite and bitterness and teasing out the heartfelt love and forging the memories into newer, better ones. gold sealing the scalpel tracks left behind after a traumatic break. the magic 8-ball spins round and round, lands on songs never before played, songs that never logistically could be played. we beckon our friends onto the stage with us (the very same one that did the original backing vocals for chicago is so two years ago, mounting the stage 21 years later to do it again live).
you have to make weird art. you have to make things with your friends. you have to laugh and love unapologetically. you have to be unafraid to do whatever stupid, inane, insane thing makes you feel alive. if the world is always spinning and the world always feels like it's ending, maybe this is the answer. it's love. it's love. it's love.

FINALS:
BISHOPS KNIFE TRICK VS.
SO MUCH (FOR) STARDUST
I'm sifting through sand Looking for pieces of broken hourglass Trying to get it all back, put it back together As if the time had never passed I know I should walk away But I just want to let you break my brain And I can't seem to get a grip No matter how I live with it
In another life, you were my babe In another life You were the sunshine of my lifetime What would you trade the pain for? I'm not sure I used to be a real go-getter I used to think it'd all get better

Well, I did it. Every FOB album. I'm done. Here's what I thought
-My god, Pete Wentz is a fucking lyrical genius
-I forgot that Uma Thurman (song) was Everywhere back in the day. In fact, I had somehow entirely erased it from my memory, and upon relistening to it, went "wait, they did That One Song too?? I forgot about this oh my god" and then also went "wait this is so much better than I remember it being in 2015"
-I was worried going in that I wouldn't like AB/AP, because I remember not liking Centuries that much as a kid, but I was dead wrong. This album is amazing. And yes, I like Centuries now :)
-Evening Out with your Girlfriend definitely reads like a "first LP" type of album. It's not bad by any means, but it certainly has that "early work" vibe. Reminds me of Blink-182. Apparently it was recorded in 2 days and released against the band's wishes, though, which is... interesting, to say the least
-TTTYG also reminds me of Blink-182, but has a more distinctly FOB sound to me. I don't really know why
-Pax-Am Days is kind of a "nothing" album to me. I didn't find myself vibing to it nearly as much as the rest of their discography. As much as I like the more hard rock direction, it wasn't my favourite. The two songs I liked the most were American Made and Caffeine Cold. I have a feeling I'll warm up to the rest of it over time
-Surprising literally nobody, Folie remains my favourite FOB album. The first album I listen to by an artist tends to be my favourite, with very few exceptions
-My favourite album aesthetic, however, is IOH, by a long shot. I love the cover, I love the photoshoots, I love all the promotional material, everything. It's fucking gorgeous. And Franklin the sheep is gorgeous, too. He's wonderful <3
-Ironically enough, I finished the discography on the same day that I got my first piece of FOB merch. It was a logo T-shirt that I found on sale at Hot Topic :)
-My album ranking is probably: Cork Tree, IOH, Folie, and Stardust in S tier, TTTYG, Save Rock and Roll, and AB/AP in A tier, EOWYG and MANIA in B tier, and Pax-Am Days in C tier
-I was originally going to do a top 10 of my favourite songs, but it was literally too hard for me to narrow it down to just 10, so here's a list of my all-time favourites:
-America's Suitehearts, 20 Dollar Nose Bleed, Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet, Dead on Arrival, Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued, Dance, Dance, Sugar, We're Going Down, Thriller, The Take Over, The Break's Over, Hum Hallelujah, Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, Immortals, Bang the Doldrums, Love From The Other Side, and What a Time To Be Alive
If you read this colossal, autism-fuelled FOB post, I love you /platonic <3
