One for @readbrightly about kids moving up to more challenging books as they become ready. . Veda is all about graphic novels and comics right now. For a while I was worried that she wasn’t reading any chapter books, but I realize that she is getting a lot from the graphic novels. Her drawing is expanding and she’s trying out different facial expression techniques and character movement. Today marks the beginning of our homeschooling journey. Veda’s been asking to learn from home for a long time, and it’s taken me just as long to believe this is something I can actually do... be a curiosity facilitator, a guide and a co-life-learner. And still do my work which I love so much. But I think we make time for the things we need to do and for the things we really want to do. And this fits in both categories, so I’m committed. I’m so excited to give Veda the time to dive deep into projects she dreams up, to learn about what makes her own self come alive and to watch her make connections as she explores her curiosity. Here we go!

Thinking back on this journal cover I collaborated on with @maydesigns . It didn’t get much play because it made its debut at the same time as the awful transition in the White House and the #womensmarch . But I still love this pattern - it feels melancholy, but still hopeful to me - and I’m thinking about introducing it as a whole new thing in the upcoming months.
