Some of you may or may not know Kylie Wood. She is a senior student at Penguin Budo and an integral part of the dojo, helping with classes and providing our much loved grading cupcakes 🙂
On Boxing Day 2018 Kylie was involved in a tragic car accident which resulted in a serious neck injury. She has been transported to a hospital in Melbourne and undergone surgery to avoid permanent disability.…

Penguin Budo Aikido classes are moving to the Scout Hall Johnsons Beach Rd, Penguin TAS.

Our last class at the Penguin Community Learning Center is Thursday the 8th of November. There will be no Open Mat class on Saturday the 10th of November as I will be relocating the mats and equipment.

I recently traveled to Japan for the 2018 International Gyokushin Ryu Aikido Gasshuku.
During the seminar I had the honor of grading for my Nidan with Washizu Terumi Kaiso , Shimura Sensei , Jon Marshall Sensei and Murat Aktas Sensei.

Sensei Kaylas grading was held on the 9th of October 2018, where she had the privilege of grading at the Gyokushin Ryu Aikido hombu dojo in Shizuoka.

Starting Monday August 20th kids martial arts is back on at Penguin Budo.
We have added an additional day to compliment our current timetable

Shinkendo, Kicking combos and Aikido in Tasmania
First week back after having a week off over the school holidays,  Shinkendo, kicking combos and Aikido in Tasmania.
Started the week with kaeshi waza (counter techniques), plenty of ukemi and syllabus practice.  We finished with some fun, kicking combos Mae Geri to mawashi geri … plenty of pop pop for Sensei Colin Niland of Open Mat martial Arts and Shinkendo Tanrengata (Kata).
