Trying out different blogging topics. Currently attempting to be a quasi-book blog wherein I try to get my feelings about YA fiction sorted out.

Kimi no Na wa / Your Name also has some beautiful timelapses and montage shots. I didn’t love every single shot in the movie, but there are very many that are so good.

Watching Kimi no na wa
What you expected: Cute highschoolers swapping bodies which results in hilarious shenanigans and the unexpected budding romance.
What you got: fuCKING PLOT TWIST BECAUSE SWAPPING BODIES IS APPARENTLY NOT ENOUGH. MOTHERFUCKER KICK IN THE GUTS RIGHT WHERE YOUR FEELS HURT THE MOST. PLOT TWIST AGAIN. THE AGONY™. SOUL EATING SUSPENSE. YOUR HEART RIPPED OUT OF YOUR CHEST. TORTURED FEELS. ARE THEY GONNA MAKE IT? ARE THEY GONNA MISS EACH OTHER AGAIN??? ARE THEY GONNA REMEMBER!!?? I DIDN'T FUCKING SING UP FOR THIS I WAS NOT READY. LOVE STORY OF THE CENTURY. CHEWING YOUR NAILS AND SOBBING INTO A PILLOW UNTIL THE VERY LAST SECOND OF THIS FORSAKEN MOVIE.

Andrew Garfield (about the failure of the Spiderman franchise and possibly referencing his interest in bisexual Peter Parker) in response to Dev Patel’s comments on the disappointment of working on the Last Airbender film and not recognizing himself on screen: “this is a terrible extension of me.”

This was done almost two years ago, and it is still amazing to see how strong it is both in animation and the message.
It was directed by Director and Animator Sylvain Chomet, who directed The Triplets of Belleville and the Illusionist. It really is worth a watch if you haven’t seen this before. Enjoy!

Resistance can take many forms - from education to litigation, from within a small community to throughout the globe. Though I have omitted highly important figures like Yuri Kochiyama and Fred Korematsu, I wanted to spotlight lesser-known individuals who resisted injustice in a variety of ways. They demonstrate that we too can act against oppression and inequality, however we are able.

Many thanks to The Densho Project for the research materials
I’ve put a printed zine version of these drawings and stories on my Storenvy for preorder, all profits from sales of the zine will be donated to the ACLU. Zines will be shipped out in early March.
