You have to recognize your capacity for harm. You cannot omit the harm you've done to others to remain "good." Anybody can be a bigot. Anyone can be an abuser. Anyone can harm anyone at any time even those who have been harmed themselves. The world is not made up of victims and villains only, this is life, not a Saturday morning cartoon and you are a human being who can or maybe even has hurt others and you HAVE to acknowledge that to learn to be better.

talking about this in the replies with eve but i feel like it's made worse by the episode's theme. regina is made into a spectacle in the episode itself and the entire point is that she and glaceon have become extremely reactive and paranoid over it to the point of shutting out and hurting people who don't mean anything by it. and the cycle of that trauma only serves to isolate regina more.
but then the episode undermines that by having goh "present" ash to the class and basically make fun of how "hes so obsessed with pokemon and thats kinda weird" and the class laughs at how ash tries to defend himself, and the scene is played for comedy and we're supposed to laugh like "ha! TYPICAL ash!"
i feel like a smarter show would have included that scene to foreshadow regina's trauma and parallel her experiences to the one ash just had, and have that serve as a learning experience for goh that it's not okay to humiliate your friends for the sake of an "entertaining" presentation, and goh feels guilty bc he's also been through similar things with his mew special interest and perpetuated that cycle. you don't even have to go at it with an autism angle, it couldve just been a good anti bullying episode that isn't too "in your face" about its themes. but then we'd have some organic conflict between the main cast and we can't have that.

#echoed voice#jn lb#like. idk if it comes across like im overreacting. i probably am#but this legit kinda gave me flashbacks to high school where i'd be made fun of in a very similar way to how ash was in this episode#like there were no ''presentations'' but in between classes i'd get ''quizzed'' and tricked into thinking i was having a conversation#when really i was being baited into saying ''stupid'' things for the nt kids' entertainment and was being mocked for it#and its made worse by how previous seasons did point out that ash does poorly in school but actually handle that flaw with respect#and counter it with ''its ok. he has strengths in other places. the school system isnt for everyone and thats fine''#but this episode plays it straight when they make fun of him for it#and sure maybe they just meant it as ''goh appreciates ALL parts of his friend'' but it comes across like hes mocking him#its a shame bc i feel like without that scene this would be one of my favorite episodes in the show#regina really got to me when i first watched it. i found her extremely relatable
