Performing the Arts Promotional Tour!

The cast will be going across the country, stopping at malls along the way, to promote the new show premiering in the fall. Here is a short summary of all that happens in the episode airing tonight: 

A. Vera has a new look. Vera’s dressing differently much to the dismay of her boyfriend, Atticus, and best friend, Ivy. Hunter is also introduced B. Axl McQueen has his eye on a new prize, and her name is Tatiana. Tatiana’s friend, Olive, doesn’t like how close they’re getting. C. Lennon and Sadie have recently started dating. Introduction to Lennon, Sadie, and Inez D.  Vera and Axl’s parents are dating, and introduced E.  Eden is partnered with Zane in dance class for the rest of the semester.

BIOGRAPHY:

From the moment Jacob was born, he felt like a bit of a dirty secret. He knew his mother loved him, but that didn’t change the fact that there was clearly something very taboo about him. Articles and TV segments was done about him due to his mother’s fame and the secrecy of his father. They pointed to his lighter skin complexion, his mother’s recent project with David Puckerman, and how his mother claimed to have given him her maiden name. Luckily, the paparazzi had enough decency to not crowd him too much, but there were still the questions. His mother did her best to keep him busy though and showered him with all the love she could give which made things easier. After all, there wasn’t much more that a boy of five could want.

Being in acting was never something that Jacob was particularly interested in. He loved what his mom did and enjoyed being on sets with her since everyone spoiled him rotten, but he never made the conscious decision to pursue it. It wasn’t until a director mentioned to his mom how he could be perfect for the role of a son in a series he was shooting that he even began practicing. It was around the same that he had also become good friends with Jane Hayward who was working with his mom on her new movie which only helped get things moving. His mother couldn’t help but laugh when he went from disinterest to excitement when his new friend mentioned just how awesome it all was. From there, the best coaches were hired, which Jake thought was silly because his mom was the best one he could have, and it wasn’t long until his career was rolling.

Everything was going rather smoothly as the years passed. Jacob’s show was doing well, and there were even talks of him appearing in a movie with Will Smith which was rather big news for a boy who loved Men in Black. However, the calm appeared to only be preparing him for the storm because one morning news about his father’s identity was everywhere. His mom didn’t have the time to prepare him because even though she had recently began talking to his father again, she didn’t think he would tell his wife so soon. The whirlwind that happened afterwards caused more turmoil for the boy than it appeared. His life went from him believing it was just him and his mom against the world to having a man he didn’t know but was supposed to love in his house. Add to that the “brother” he had who couldn’t stand him and blamed him for something he didn’t even do, and Jake began to pull away. It was in small ways, but enough for his mom to suggest therapy.

Months of talking to a stranger didn’t truly help, but his dad’s persistence eventually did. David attended sessions with his son, and the trio even did family therapy. It seemed like the man was really trying, and he could see that his mom was happy, so he began to let go of his own anger. He forgave his mom for keeping secrets from him and just believed that it took his family a little longer to get together than most. For years, things seemed perfect, but he didn’t realize until he was thirteen how much of an allusion it all was. The three of them rarely spent time together due to them all being in separate projects, and when they did things were more superficial than ever. Talks rarely went beyond the basic small talks about work or asking how he was doing in school with his tutor before there was silence. His mom always gave him fake smiles to try and assure him all was well, but he could see the happiness in her fading.

A year later, everything came crashing down. David walked out on his mom just like he had on the woman before her, and Jake was left with the desire to be nothing like him. Promptly, he left acting to spend more time with his mom and focus on dance. The hobby that everyone told him he was naturally brilliant at became all he wanted to do. His mother could tell that her son was angry and constantly carried that with him, but he never wanted to talk about it. The woman wished that she could at least know what he was feeling, but the boy bottled it all up and instead pretended his father didn’t exist. He went back to using his mother’s maiden name as his own whenever possible and put on the facade that nothing mattered to him outside of his mom.

While dance was something he excelled at for the ten years he immersed himself in it, he quickly realized that it wasn’t nearly as stable of a career as acting was. There were some options, but the stress of it all took away from the passion he had for the art. He didn’t want to look at it as a paycheck, so he started thinking about other forms of work. it wasn’t until he heard a rumor that people thought he wouldn’t go back to acting because he was afraid of not being able to come out from under the shadow his father’s scandal put on him that he decided to go back. If there was one thing he loved, it was making people eat their words, so he started auditioning again. He swore he would surpass his father, and when he got his first callback with Performing the Arts, he thought it was perfect. He would be able to act while having dance be a part of it as well.

YOUR CHARACTER’S HEAD CANON FOR THEIR CHARACTER:

Jake is excited that he’s playing a character he can relate to. For a long time he didn’t know who his father was, and his goal is to bring that life experience to life in his role. He is determined to not let the bitterness of his situation effect how it is portrayed and wants to remember that hope he once felt wondering who his father was. He wants Zane to look for his parents secretively due to him not wanting to hurt the parents who raised him his whole life. He also wants Zane to be a bit more shy than he is. Since he has a crush on Eden that’s gone on for so long, he figured that was a good path to take.

Zane is cool being an outcast and focusing on dance. He would rather focus on his art and the close friends he has than worry about popularity. Even though he’s a good looking guy, he doesn’t have a big ego.

Jake also portrays Zane as someone who can’t sit still. He always seems to have a beat running through him which often leads to feet tapping or fidgeting.
