Cromwell slammed his hand against the table. “The king will suspect you and think the Nun of Kent was all your doing-”
“The opposite is true, everyone knows that. Whatever happens my soul cannot help it.”
“You will bring his indignation down upon you. By God, I would rather my only son lost his head!”
Silence plummeted as everyone in the room stared at Cromwell.
“Jesus Christ,” Norfolk muttered.
“Master Secretary,” Cranmer’s voice was hushed. “Are you…are you well? Might you need some fresh air?”
“I need nothing, I was perfectly reasonable. I ask you, Sir Thomas, have I said anything unbecoming of a gentleman?”
More beamed. “It was a declaration of your great good mind and favour towards me; and it was marvellous in my eyes.”
“Precisely! Now you can all stop gawking at me like girls.”
A lil snippet of my work that I thought might amuse @air-mechanical

TLDR: Thomas More reassuring Thomas Cromwell that they're both totally normal and not unhinged at all.

i don’t want to be pedantic, but all they had to do was omit two choice words from this and i probably would have been fine with it:

Gahhh I'm reading Shadow of Persephone and it's been over 50 pages of Katherine Howard overhearing conversations expositing about Anne Boleyn.
If I wanted to read about Anne Boleyn I'd read a novel about Anne Boleyn. I want Catherine's story so can we hurry UP and get to her, please? This is "the story of Catherine Howard". At least centre things around her!

Period dramas used to have Alfie Allen cameos. We used to be a proper country.

Me explaining, once more, that being interested in a particular historical figure or era does NOT necessarily equate to supporting it ‼️ Creators shouldn’t have to make a piece of work “clean” just because some readers may get uncomfortable. If anything, we should be promoting the exploration of uncomfortable topics- proper research and portrayal should be praised. Bring back historical and media literacy.
