I admittedly got disheartened partway through when I realized these were WAY bigger and messier than I anticipated, then when I couldn't put on as much frosting as I wanted without covering up all the details. Don't worry though, I ripped and dipped them in the icing afterwards instead because it was too delicious to waste 😤

Ultimately, I concluded a Noctowl would fit Mia's 'simple elegance' aesthetic better than Alakazam (which has a somewhat more ornate design), although maybe she still does have one. Noctowl would also be a nice mentor for Phoenix's Decidueye. As for Godot, I had a bit of trouble, but I guess Luxray's X-ray vision would help with his partial blindness? Their aesthetic is somewhat similar as well. I also avoided giving him any flying-types because 3-5 wouldn't have happened quite the same otherwise.

I'm replaying 3-4 at the moment, and had the strangest sense of déjà-vu: Gumshoe: Wh-Where did you find that, sir!? Edgeworth: On Dusky Bridge. I was there first, and decided to conduct my own investigation.

Gumshoe: Wh-Why...? Why didn't you tell me?

Edgeworth: I made a decision to keep all pieces of evidence in my personal satchel. It's the safest place I know.

Armando: Hmph! That hot-shot sure has a flair for the dramatic... ...now look at this from 3-2:

Godot: Ha...! The broach you're talking about... Do you mean this?

Gumshoe: Ah...!

Phoenix: Th-That's...! Mask☆DeMasque's broach!

Judge: Wh-Where did you find it!?

Godot: Well I've always had a good nose for evidence... I got it at the crime scene. It was hidden in the shadow of a big female Buddha statue.

Phoenix: ("Buddha statue"...? He must mean the Ami Fey statue.)

Gumshoe: Wh-Why didn't you tell me about that, sir!?

Godot: ...I always put evidence away in my pocket. ...After all, it's the safest place for crucial evidence.

Maya: Grrr... This guy is one cool customer. This has got to be deliberate. There is no way it's a coincidence. So the guy probably decided to employ Edgeworth's tactics while switching to prosecution. Maybe because he was the only one to ever succeed in getting a guilty verdict against Phoenix? Remember that this is the same shameless guy who also spread the rumor that according to Edgeworth, he was the best prosecutor in the country now that Edgeworth was abroad. Edgeworth didn't even know of his existence. This is so funny to me.

hello it's my birthday today so here's a reminder that i write ace attorney fics!

so carry me from these walls, brother of mine is about the vk siblings, departures and the inherent tragedy of airports, and healing and growing up (please mind the tags/tws!) im working on a sequel!

beyond all reasonable doubt is a very silly narumitsu confession fic, and the plot for it literally appeared to me in a dream while i was taking a nap

My personal headcanon for Trucy is that when she meets Miles, she blurts 'So this is Mr. Cravat?'. Miles splutters, Phoenix furiously hugs his daughter laughing like a madman but also mortified. (someday I will draw this scene I swear) Phoenix joked about his car also having a cravat in the SOJ dlc after all, so it's not so far off to think he jokes about it with Trucy, especially because after she lost her father, he probably tried to make her laugh every chance he got. So whenever she wants to get in his hair, she jokingly calls him Mr. Cravat. It's so funny because 1. it's actually a jabot but she doesn't care (altho the localizers obviously don't care either apparently) 2. she loves giving nicknames to the people she loves, so it's in character 3. she wants to let him know she cares about him, but doesn't want to call him anything overly familiar because she knows he's awkward with emotions and would definitely recoil. And when he's ready and confortable with actually being a family, I imagine she would call him what he himself called Gregory as a child. So in the Japanese version, 'otousan' - in English, 'father' but with such a joking and funny UK accent because she loves him but still wants to mess with him. Being light-heared about it also makes it less sad for him. Maybe she first calls him that when they're in the UK and she hears that accent and thinks it's extremely funny, so there's a story behind all of it. To be honest this whole thought come about because I've always felt the 'uncle' nickname people usually go with feels a bit weird to me, and would also be untraslatable for the original Japanese version. As for the 'Papa' nickname - I still love it to death but in the Japanese version, that's what she calls Phoenix, so again untraslatable. Referencing Gregory is also more bittersweet.

I wonder if there is a significance to Godot specifically drinking no more than 17 cups of coffee in any given trial. Where I live (Italy) 17 is viewed as unlucky - just as 13 is in the US - apparently that's because the Roman numeral, XVII, can be changed anagrammatically to VIXI, which in the Latin language translates to "I lived" (which basically also implies 'but I no longer live')... it fits Godot uncomfortably well. I wonder if that was what they were referencing. It's also interesting to note how the localizers choose 'Diego Armando' as his name, which could be both of Spanish or Italian origin.
