My fanart for Veritas Vincit, by @nuryrune !
I really really enjoyed this story, how the author treats the character's issues and relationship, and the warmth it conveys, it made me feel like I was cozy near a fireplace all the time! Thanks so much for writing it!
I actually made this a few weeks ago but I wanted to finish reading the fanfic before posting it... I've been hella busy lately but there's always a little time for a good read!

Our integrity sells for so little, but it is all we really have. It is the very last inch of us, but within that inch, we are free… I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An Inch, it is small and it is fragile, but it is the only thing the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us. I hope that whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the world turns and that things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you. I love you. With all my heart, I love you.

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villian by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengence; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

Let’s take a moment to talk about this.
When I first began talking about how relevant this film is and would continue to become moreso way back when I was fourteen, it was at least somewhat playful. I said it in a serious, but lighthearted manner.
Now when I saw this, I am not smiling. I am not playful. This is not a joke. I look at what happens in 2020 and with each passing day I am more and more terrified. It is the year 2020, and these things are happening. Here are just the bigger examples-
In the film, V talks about how a virus was released in the year 2020 that gave the government power. Quarantine became a major life event for the civilians. A corrupt leader began to use his power in order to shape a community that suits his ideals. A community founded upon racism, homophobia, and overall violent discrimination. The government becomes founded on lies, using the news to spread whatever it chooses to fabricate. Then, after years of this, it takes one person to speak up. It takes one person to speak of the injustices and call to the people. It takes the calling- the voice of the people in which in the film V represents- for people to begin to rise up once more. In the film, V represents an idea. The idea of justice, change, and power of the people. Look at where we are right now. Look at who is using their voices to speak up about the injustice and prejudice. WHO is displaying the truth for the people, motivating us to stand and push against the oppression and injustice?
We even have Anonymous back. Those who represent the people, and reveal the injustices. This is where we are.

This.
I don’t feel that anyone talks about this, but I couldn’t help but to notice the symbolism of the remaining domino that did not fall. I think that to us, this domino represents the last piece of the puzzle. The final action for V’s work to be complete. But to V?
Oh, I think it means so much more to V. Just as V is more than just a mask and an idea to Evey, I think that this domino represents more than just a part of a plan to V. I personally see that this piece is not only the last part of the plan to V, but it represents Evey to him. I think in this clip, that last domino that was out of his control was her. It was him, too. That piece yet to fall was the last opportunity he held literally in his hand. This is where he realized that the last part of his plan was someone else’s decision to complete and it was hers. This was the last piece, and he realized that after this piece took action, he was no longer a part of the plan.
Maybe this is a bit of a stretch, but as V is a very brooding character, I don’t think it is quite out of reach. Every single move he makes is extremely calculated and he seems to be constantly in thought. What are your thoughts?
