What if you were Really Afraid of Bugs?
My hands are shaking as I hold up my placard with my name plastered on the front. The dimly lit room with the height chart in the back made me feel isolated and vulnerable. And the light emitting from the camera's flash made me wince. Then soon after, it dawned on me that I am a former English teacher that is now a convict, my stomach drops. In retrospect, burning down the apartment complex because of a cockroach was dumb on my part but I have an extreme phobia of those things which causes me to do irrational things! What can I say? I’m a guy that takes extreme precautions.
Later, the guard shoved me into the trailer-sized cell. The rust from the floors left a nasty cut on my cheek and the musty air filled my lungs. I quickly scramble to the corner and let out a sob--a quiet one; mind you-- to let it all out. How could this happen to me? Why did I have to burn the building? I was in complete isolation because of solitary confinement which was even worse. My lonely and depressive thoughts lulled me to sleep.
Buzz… Buzzzz.
My eyes shot open and my stomach felt uneasy. I thought walking would relieve the panic but the more I walk the dizzier I get. My heart rate is going 100 miles per hour and I realize that I am having a panic attack, an actual panic attack after years. I eventually drop to the floor after 3 laps, feeling my eyes well up knowing that I don’t have my mom to support me this time.
Buzz.
One disgusting creature came from a hole in the corner, a cockroach. I press myself up against the corner but the bug flies directly towards me and lands. By instinct I start kicking the door and screaming but that does nothing except drain me. The bugs start rushing in and filling the room. Their legs were scarring my skin and digging into my ears and mouth. I tried to breathe, but the more I tried, the more bugs came rushing in and the hissing was deafening. I felt one on one eye and felt their sharp legs all over my body, slowly devouring me. As I try to claw my eyes out the horrific sight starts to fade as I lose consciousness and then-

Dear Miles,
I hope you are doing well my misanthropistic friend. I am currently in debt, I thought the man I gave my credit card number, email, and password to would just take 100,000$ from my account. I was wrong, he took 100,000,000$. Isn't being extorted a part of life! Don’t worry Miles, it will only be a matter of time until I get all my money back. I won’t go all incognito and extort money from the president this time. He really thought I would torture his family, I was crazy back then! Now that I’ve had my 5 year sentence I changed my ways and donate whenever I can. You should try it too. I can’t rectify my past actions but I will do my best to atone for it! I hope the man spent his money well and he probably needs the money more than me. Anyway! How are you doing? Probably hating humanity, am I right. Humanity doesn't suck that much in my opinion. But who am I to oppose your views, Ebenezer. Jokes aside, how are you coping with insomnia and your flare ups? It must be a real pain. Maybe I can perform hypnosis! I tried it on this politician once and it worked perfectly. Have you read the book I sent you? The one about the acrobat that lives in an acropolis but she has acrophobia. I used to be terrified of heights, what if I fall and die! Dead! Dead! Dead! But after reading it I feel like I can walk on a tightrope on the most unstable plateau and be fine. The only downside of being in debt is that I can’t continue my endangered species protection plan. The E.S.P.P. By the time you receive this I’ll be stopping by your house next week. You know, because all of my homes will be taken away from me. I’m bringing this cat I found on the streets, I couldn’t resist helping the poor thing. I know it will be fine since you hate humans… Not animals. I named him Chonco since he is a chunky fellow. It can be another addition to your cat family! It will be a family of four. I’m surprised you haven’t been caught yet. I mean robbing Elon Musk is a pretty big deal you know. I’m no snitch, but I think you should stop stealing from famous people. You wouldn’t want the family to be split up, think about the cats. Well anyway, see you November 6 my friend! Make sure to say hi to the cats for me.
Yours truly,
Phil Swift

Phil Swift
The sharp, coppery smell of blood and pungent decaying bodies filled the grey jungle. My eyes are watering from all the gunpowder. On the bright side you could occasionally smell the jungle for what it is, plants and feces...
Good golly there are pesky bugs everywhere. Buzz! Buzz! Phil Swift can’t catch a break! First a poor, homeless man stole all my money and now I’m in a godforsaken war. Sometimes it’s hard to stay positive but I need to remember that I should be grateful for what I have. I’m filthy rich and skipped 50 years in prison! I luckily saved money from my president's extortion. Too bad if people are causing me to postpone my escape. Overcoming difficult tasks is what I live for.
All the soldiers are currently on the tainted beach, one of my favorite things about the island is the all grey thing happening. Everything is grey, the sand, soil, trees, and even the water! If the soldiers are to the right I’m heading left. My dear friend Miles tries to teach me what is north, east, south, and west, but I could never seem to grasp the concept of direction. I originally tried to buy this island but you know, the war happened. I have never been a great runner, but with all this adrenaline I’ve been running around the whole jungle no problem.
Oh dear… I can’t stop running. I ACTUALLY CAN’T STOP!!
“JEEZ!” A random man yelped.
“I’M UNARMED I SWEAR!” I cried, putting my hands up in the air.
“I COULD HAVE KILLED YOU! DON’T RUN AROUND IN A WARZONE NEXT TIME! YOUR PRACTICALLY COMMITTING SUICIDE!”
There was a long pause.
“Hi my names Phil what’s you-”
“DON'T HI MY NAME ME! ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL YOURSELF!”
“But i'm just trying to be ni-”
“SOLDIER, WHY ARE YOU NOT IN UNIFORM.”
“I'M NOT IN UNIFORM BECAUSE I'M NOT A SOLDIER! I’M A STRUGGLING PHILANTHROPIST FOR GOD SAKES” I screamed, my voice was shaky. I haven’t yelled like that since my last robbery with miles 6 years ago. The perfect heist...
I figured if I don’t yell he’ll just cut me off. His uniform was covered in blood and he looks like a wreck. He had a dark complexion and a stern face with heavy eye bags, kind of looked like Samuel Jackson with a huge afro. Even though he was obviously worn out he had a hyperactive attitude, mainly yelling and eye twitching.
“WHAT IS A SUPERFICIAL, KEN DOLL LOOKING PHILANTHROPIST DOING. IN. THIS. JUNGLE!” The sergeant roared, eye twitching after every sentence.
“Were you ever a drill sergeant before?”
“YEAH! I'm not a drill sergeant anymore, I'm first- class, but how did you know that?” The sergeant replied. He sounded hostile, not letting his guard down. I don’t think he can keep shouting every sentence for very long.
“No reason.”
The sun was starting to set. I just need to convince him to help me get off this island!
“Please help me get off this island. I'm begging you! Maybe you want to come with me?”
“FIRST OF ALL, I GOT LOST! I'M NOT GOING TO LEAVE MY SOLDIERS BEHIND! THEY'RE DUMB AND NEED GUIDANCE!! SECOND OF ALL I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU. I'M NOT GONNA FOLLOW A STRANGER!”
“OKAY. okay, just please consider helping a kind taxpayer sir.”
“Alright, ALRIGHT!” He said reluctantly.
“We just need to get to my boat. It’s no fancy automobile but it does the job just fine. I think it’s around the opposite shore since it’s near the big tree.”
“Sounds like a plan barbie.”
“Alright”.... I don’t really like that nickname but ok.
The Sergeant and I headed toward the enormous grey palm tree. We walked, well more speed walked past a beautiful waterfall. It was grey and gave it a polluted look... I couldn’t smell the scents of the war while I was running, but once I calmed down it hit me. Boy was it horrendous, the soldiers definitely fought here. Hopefully they did not discover my boat.
“Stop, Siberian tiger.” the sergeant whispered.
“Oh my.” I muttered
Why are there Siberian tigers in the jungle!? The tiger was the same shade of gray as everything else on this island. When I think about it, the whole time we never had encountered any animals. The tiger moved carefully, stalking its prey. It will probably aim for the neck. Such a sad way to die.
“We run on 3.” the sergeant muttered.
I had to do something, I'm not a good runner. A thought hit me! I can shoot it with my flare gun.
“No, I have another idea but you have to trust me.” I replied.
“Why would I trust you?” He harshly whispered
“Oh well, I’m doing it.”
I slowly pulled out my 26.5 mm signal pistol. THE TIGER IS NOW HEADING RIGHT TOWARD THE BOTH OF US!!! There is no time to think, just do. I pulled the trigger one time, It was shocking but it kept running toward us! What kind of animal behaves that way!? Two times, I clearly hit it and did some damage. Why is it still running? The tiger clearly has supernatural endurance. I really don’t want to kill the poor thing but if I did not the tiger would kill us. My fingers pulled the trigger on reflex one, no two times. It was laying on the gray grass, dead.
“BOY, WHY DID YOU GET A 26.5 MM FLARE GUN INSTEAD OF YOUR STANDARD ORION ONE. WERE YOU LOOKING TO KILL!?” The sergeant cried, exasperated.
“Oh dear, I think its internal organs are burning. What a way to die, am I right?”
“YOUR ACTING LIKE AS IF YOU DO THIS EVERY WEEKEND. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!
“Mm nothing, I think we should get a move on.”
We were still speed walking, clearly on edge from recent events. I had to say, the scenery was getting quite gruesome the closer we were to reaching the big tree. Blood was all over the gray bark and there were piles of gun shells.
“We’re here, now where is it?” The sergeant asked.
“Um… I don't know. I see a letter pinned on one of the bodies. I noticed the dead man looked terrified, the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone next to him. The letter read.
Dear Phil,
“Dimitri and I hopefully took one of your boats. If that was your only one I’m actually truly sorry. This place stinks, but make sure to take the dead soldiers' guns and read the book I left… Also do you find it a bit weird that everything’s grey. Maybe it symbolizes how morally grey this war has become, but I’m not a poet, nor do I care.”
Your favorite misanthropist.
Oh. My. God…
“WHAT AN IDIOT!” I screamed kicking the sand around me with rage.
“What did the letter say?”
“I’m sorry I lost my cool there, I’m a changed man. I shouldn't be acting like this. Anyway my friend thought I had two boats and left.”
“God's way of repaying all your philanthropy am I right?” The sergeant jokes, not very funny.
I crumpled, face to the sand nearly in tears. How much bad luck could a man handle?
“Since I’m going to stay through the whole war I mind as well know your name.”
“My name is Creak but my parents sound it out as if they were opening a door you know, CREEAK. But please, say it normally.”
“My name is Phil in case you didn’t hear it the first time. I have another question, Creak. How have you maintained that glorious afro the whole time?” I asked, hoping he would share his hair secrets.
“Two words. Afro. Softener. But it's only for curly hair though.”
“What a pity.”
After that I submerged my head into the water. Washing some of the blood and dirt off. Somehow I’m going to survive the whole war, hopefully with my buddy Creak. May luck be on my side.

Dear dad,
What was I thinking? Signing up for a war when I didn't even know what I was fighting for.
There's been more than 10,000 deaths over a monochromatic piece of land! The president of the U.S wants this piece of land just because the Russian president claimed it was special. I’m currently on the island, everything is grey! The water, the dirt, the sky!! I was fighting on a beach and there I met my friend Miles. He says that he hates this war and hates the presidents even more. He seems to hate the violence saying things like this war is a waste of time and everyone in this island deserves judgment. He’s a real pacifist. I don’t think he is a soldier. He claims that a friend named Phil found this island and was planning on buying it so he doesn’t have to deal with people. But then we had to come. I'm also planning to go A.W.O.L. This war is just greedy men using people and I rather be doing good for the world than be a pawn to a twisted game. I made the whole escape plan with Miles! In the middle of war I plan on doing whatever it takes to get off the beach area. I’ll meet Miles in the grey jungle area at sunset. We plan to get on his boat that was taken over by a few soldiers. After spying on them for a week Miles found out that the soldier that stands guard at night has bibliophobia. He saw the soldier scream when the book Harry Potter was being read to him. We plan on threatening him with a book. When we were making the plan Miles and I knew soldiers would be coming. I told him he can just wait on the boat since he is a pacifist and I will take care of the rest. He looked confused and said just because he is a misanthropist doesn't mean he’ll let me die... Where did misanthropy come from? I plan on staying with Miles for a while. I’m not keen on going back home or being in contact with anyone I know for a while. You or anyone I know might snitch on me! Also I'm a 20 year old adult and traveling to Russia will be too expensive since I'm broke. I should be fine! Miles said we would be getting the Travis Scott meal no questions asked, he said it’s his temporary comfort food. You may find me dishonorable after reading this but I feel differently. I’ve had to do things I would never do for a piece of land! Things you don’t sign up for in the military… I don’t have the pleasure of doing the righteous thing in a situation like this.
Sincerely,
Dimitri Turgenev

“Once upon a time there was a very angry emissary with his idiot partner Iwyn Roscoe,” I say.
“Once upon a time there was a very annoyed partner with this repugnant emissary named Leonidas,” Iwyn jeers.
We took turns snatching the blank children’s book and making up our own stories to tell this spoiled brat. It was my nemesis Miles Miso’s polkadot cat, Potato. What kind of cat has their own crib? I planned on taking his cat as hostage and interrogating him, obviously not killing anyone. I'm not like that.
We hear the jingle of Mile’s keys and get real quiet… I'm right above the door--hanging on a chandelier-- so I could strike with efficiency. He starts walking and I make my move.
“WHAT THE-”
I fell on the green haired snake, knocking him out cold.
“Well that’s not how it was supposed to go,” I say.
“Did you really think that falling on him was the best form of restraint? How dumb could you be?”
“Well you weren’t telling me that when we were coming up with the plan nitwit!”
“Coming up with a plan??? We barely came up with anything. I just see you climbing up the walls like a psychopath right when Mile’s starts opening the door,” Iwyn says.
I can hear Potato screaming in the background, running over to her owner.
“I suppose we should get him to the headquarters--” I say but am immediately cut off by the sound of explosions.
I told my team to check for explosives and traps beforehand,” Iwyn sighs. “I trust my team does something right for once and this is what I get.”
I immediately ran to chuck the cat out the window, but she wouldn't budge. It is common knowledge around the workplace that cats can survive falls from extreme heights.
“Curse you for being so faithful.”
After a few more tugs I free her and throw her out the window onto a bed of flowers like the absolute chad I am. Since Miles’ home was going to be destroyed anytime, leaving him to die would be the more convenient option. Should I?
“Get the body already!” Iwyn shouts as he jumps out the 30 story window.
Miles wasn’t aberrant like us so I’d have to use a grappling hook. With Mile’s in one arm I make a speedy descent.
After we all made it out I shove the criminal into the interrogation room and breathe a sigh of relief. I finally caught him, it’s over after 2 years. This is how I wanted things to be, right? Instead of happiness I just felt tired and disappointed, like something more was supposed to happen. Iwyn walks in the room and places a hand on my shoulder.
“We caught the man and lived happily ever after,” he says, falling into the chair. “We can finally rest.”

Gossip
“Wakey wakey eggs pancakey!!” Phil cheers as he busts into Miles’ room. “It’s 10 am!¨”
“I’ve been awake for a while now… I’m just contemplating my life right now. I swear If he tries to catch me one more time I’m jumping off a cliff, Phil,” Miles groans.
“Nooo, misanthropists don’t jump off cliffs, Miles. They prove others wrong,” Phil replies, opening the blinds and letting that hideous sunlight in.
“I just can't do it anymore. It gets tiring after a while, you know? I just want to rob people in peace, my god.”
Miles gets up and wiped his blood shot eyes, uncomplacent. The lights were a little too bright today and seemed to worsen his never ending headache. Each joint screamed as he headed towards the bathroom to wash off.
“Have you heard Leonidas has caught yet another sex trafficker? You try to hate the man but he’s doing God’s work around here. No one dared touch Cecilio because he’s aberrant.” Phil shouts from the kitchen.
“Do you think I care if he catches one sex trafficker? You’re pretending like he didn’t blow up my favorite McDonald’s in an attempt to catch me, killing cashier Johnny in the process.”
“That I admit was messed up, but that was a one time thing.”
“One time thing? That was the sixth-time thing,” Miles adds as he heads towards the kitchen. The smell of bacon and pancakes were delightful and almost put a smile on his face.

Horsies
It was a deadly, hot summer afternoon and a road trip with Iwyn was okay for the most part besides the fact that we were listening to bach’s whole album for two hours so I had to change it
“Would you please change the music? We’ve been listening to Taylor Swift for the past hour,” Iwyn said.
“You’re acting like we weren’t listening to your classical music for the past two. Thirty more minutes then it’s your turn--HORSIES.”
“Oh my god, Leonidas, don’t tell me you're one of those people.”
“When I see a horse I am obligated to say horsies you gotta understand that.”
“I’ll never understand you… Aren’t you from the country?” Iwyn asks.
“No, I’m a city boy through and through. What gave you that Idea?”
“Maybe it was just the hair and freckles, It makes you look like you hurdle cows for a living.”
“I think you comment on my hair so much because you admire it. Just admit it,” I say.
“I would never be jealous of a man missing a chromosome,” He laughs.
“Bruh.”
I pulled over to take a picture with one of those beauties, Melissa had to see the horses.
“Get my good side,” I say.
Iwyn takes my picture and we continue our boring road trip to California.

"MM. M. MMMMMM"
"We all know it's delicious, Leonidas. No need to be loud about it." Iwyn said.
"This stuff busts."
"Yeah I'm sure that concoction is tasty," Iwyn looks at my proats with utter disgust.
"You can't hate it if you never tried it," I say, licking the remnants of protein powder off the bowl.
"Raw egg whites must be tasty huh? And crunchy chia seeds. Yeah, no."
"You get used to the texture, plus it has 50 grams of protein last time I checked."
"And approximately 700 calories with your humongous serving size. A whole family eats what you eat in a day."
"You need to put some meat on those bones anyway. I'm making a bowl for you tomorrow and you'll love it."
"I don't want the protein farts that come with it," Iwyn snaps.
"A small price to pay for a godly physique."
"It may be a small price for you, but it's a BIG price for the others around you."
"Hater gonna hate."

Ferociously, I slam the table next to me to scare Iwyn-- the snarky giant-- awake.
Immediately, he shoots up and glares at me.
“Really? Was that really necessary,” Iwyn said.
“Sure it is. You’ve literally adapted to my pokes and whispers so I’m resorting to a more effective method.”
This was in fact true, even though I love messing with him for the fun of it.
“Can’t believe that somebody like you gets to ride in the president’s plane with me,”
“Likewise, I can’t believe a narcoleptic gets to ride with me.” I reply to Iwyn.
“All the greats take power naps throughout the day like Einstein I’ll have you know.”
“Sure, anyways you know where she's taking us?”
“Sudan, there’s an aberrant named Wei Lin absorbing the heat to destroy villages nearby.”
Fighting a guy wasn’t an unreasonable task for me, but why ask a special agent and not the heroes?”
“Likely you're wondering why don’t we just send a hero? He leads one of the biggest trafficking organizations so this isn’t just a go in and out situation.” Iwyn says
It made sense, the world doesn’t need to know about this. Iwyn’s tone still annoyed me.
Great, now I have a whole other ordeal to worry about.
However, Miles really isn’t that big of a deal i guess…
“Thinking hard Leonidas? Anyways you better not wake me up violently,” Iwyn says.

What is your character's overall goal? (and why?)
Leonidas’ goal is to imprison all of the criminals he can before he dies or is unable to because he wants to see justice served. Nothing will stop him from pursuing this goal which is why in particular, Miles upsets him so much. This goal was set when Leonidas was 16 years old and moved away from his parents. He’d read law after law and train like crazy so he could be in the position he is in now.
2. What is your character's motivation? (and why?)
Leonidas’ traumatic past and the resentment he carries because his parents got to live a good life after is his motivation for being in law enforcement. He can’t stand criminals taking the easy way out and wants them punished because everybody had turned a blind eye when his parents were openly abusive. He knows how it feels to be the hopeless victim and craves authority and to be in a position of power.
3. What is your character's greatest fear? (Not something superficial like roller coasters or spiders-- deep down, what is your character afraid of?)
Although Leonidas’ sister Melissa is much more powerful than him, he fears that she will die before him. Melissa has always had a risky job since she is a hero and risks her life everyday with a huge target on her back because she’s considered a celebrity. If something were to happen to his closest friend and the one who pulled him out of the abusive household he’d break down.

Let’s Catch This Thief!
MILES POV
The city lights were putrid and the motel room just as much but the reward was worth it.
“You still have it?” I asked Phil, my best friend.
“You bet I do Miles. Isn’t it so beautiful! I mean the Cullian crystal is one of a kind,” He replied. I could only see a slit of his face due to the curtains blocking most of the city’s lights.
After I scrambled in the dark for a bit, I found the T.V remote and turned it on and went straight to the news.
“Annika Pabón’s crystal, the Cullian, was stolen just thirty minutes ago!” The reporter says. “Law enforcement and multiple heroes are searching Las Vegas for the culprit. They’ve even got Chris on the search. Isn’t this just a pleasant way to start off 2028?”
“Do they think we’re rookies? Of course we’d make sure there are no fingerprints or traces of dirt left,” I asked.
“It does seem a bit weird. I can’t believe we're on international news though.”
“Well technically we’re not on it since they haven’t caught us. And they’ll never find out.”
We’ll be rich men after this all dies down.
Leonidas POV
“Now why would a middle-aged man steal from Elon Musk? He’s 79 years old and isn’t as well known as he used to be assuming that our culprit is stealing for fame,” I said.
“Elon Musk does have pretty good space travel tech from what I’ve last seen. Space travel has come to a halt for the last two decades, maybe he just wanted some of the tech for himself?” Dr. Benson, my group supervisor replied.
That geezer thought his age gave him the right to micro manage everything I did.
“You motivate me to work hard and surpass you in rankings. Just so I can prove seniority does not matter.”
“Good luck doing that in 5 years, by the time you’re thirty I bet you’ll be in the same position you’ve always been in. Just another special agent like me.”
“Just you wait and see! You have your doubts but I know I’ll be one of the greats. I’ve broken the record of most cases solved in my first year here. I’m practically a prodigy,” I said, unashamed of my not so very humble brag.
An incoming call popped up on my phone and I clicked the answer button immediately to shut him up.
“Leonidas Mervury. Is this you?” Director Wayne asked.
“Yes sir,” I replied, thinking about everything I could’ve done wrong.
“The president of the United States wants to see you at her office by Tuesday. I already have a private jet waiting for you at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Can you make it in time?”
“I will be there for sure, thank you.”
“You’ll be receiving a case and meeting a U.S marshall that will be working with you. I look forward to seeing you, Good bye.”
The whole office was silent while I received that call. Everybody looked at me in shock.
“Did I just hear that you get to meet the president?” Anita, our assistant supervisor said.
“Yeah,” I couldn’t hide my smile. “Do you think I did something wrong?”
“No! It’s about time they recognized your worth! You’ll do great.”
Dr. Benson laughed at that statement.
“What’s so funny, huh? I said.
“Nothing, I'm a little baffled that you’ll be taken away from us so soon. Something exactly like this happened to our supervisory special agent and we’ve never seen her since. She could be dead or just moved onto greater things.”
“Do you really think you’d get rid of me that easily? Sure I’m a little crabby sometimes--”
“Most of the time,” Jin interjected.
“--Most of the time, but I’ve spent three whole years with you all and we’re like family. I’ll visit you and I’ll probably be the director by that time.”
“Wishful thinking kid,” Benson said. “You’ll do great.
After a short, bittersweet goodbye. I head out of the hotel lobby and take a sip of my black coffee. The sheer heat of the bitter drink singes my tongue, leaving it numb.
"Jesus Christ!" I say under my breath. My hands burning from the flimsy cup added with the freezing car almost ruined my morning, but today was bound to be a good day.
I start to drive to the airport and my mind wanders... What will my new partner be like? How old are they? Will we be the ultimate agents? side-by-side NCIS type stuff? That was a humorous thought, they were most likely going to be some old schmuck to boss me around. That was my last partner--Dr. Benson his name was-- that geezer though his age gave him the right to micro manage everything I did.
I make it to the airport and a bunch of agents escort me to the private jet and a hologram tells me that it’ll be a three hour ride to New York.
I am pleasantly surprised to see an almost empty parking lot at the FBI headquarters. It is 4 am though, only the greats are awake at this time.
I head in and am greeted by the FBI director, Dr. Wayne.
"Hello sir," I say.
"You will be working with this gentleman for the next few years. You’ve also been promoted to U.S marshal to have more access to resources."
A thin, lanky man appears. His dark brown hair reminds me of a porcupine, it was messy and stood up straight. He is sharply dressed and I could see the arrogance and ego painted on his face. I am utterly disgusted.
"Leonidas this is Iwyn, Iwyn this is Leonidas," Mr. Wayne says.
"Who is he? I've never heard of him before. I thought I'd be working with someone that's an expert in the field," Iwyn asks.
"I am an expert in the field thank you very much, the only reason you haven't heard of me is because I'm undercover," I snapped.
I admit that was very unprofessional of me but I will be working with this smart Alec for a while.
"I meant no ill will, I just didn't expect you to be so young."
"You of all people can't be talking, I am your senior by one year."
"Gentlemen, relax, stop trying to size each other up. You're not high school boys you are agents," Mr. Wayne states and we both quiet down.
"Anyways, your main job as you already know will be tracking down the most wanted criminal Miles Miso. He's been on the run for 22 years and we just found out who he is because of Elon Musk. You young men show promise and with your expertise I’m sure you’ll catch him.
I start to zone out, how could I be so unlucky. I already know this man will be insufferable.
Iwyn and I go to the nearest Applebee’s and discuss our plans. The restaurant was bustling with energy and chatter which was perfect. Nobody would hear what we’re saying. Immediately after Iwyn and I signed in, we took a seat three stories high on one of those balconies that couples go to for alone time. The black sky in New York was always unsettling to me. NYC's popularity really went down when that villain made that irreversible curse to forever alter the city’s sky.
“I’ve already done my research and one photo of him reveals that he lives here, in New York City and after some digging I found out that he eats at the Mcdonalds everyday.”
Isn’t he just so prepared?
“I currently have no intel on Miles since I was made aware of this only a day before meeting you,” I say.
“Well I only had a day in advance and look at how much I found, Tch excuses excuses special agent.” He says with a huge, punchable smirk on his face.
“ALRIGHT! What do you expect that we do, CIA agent!”
“We go to McDonald's and come up to them. Strike up conversation.” Iwyn says flatly.
I let out a foul, high pitched laugh.
“Do you really think that talking to a high-profile criminal will be worth our time? And who talks to strangers at McDonalds? He’ll think you’re a druggie.”
“It’s not like I’ll be tap dancing up to Miles! Also, he has a neon green hair with a fade. Somebody like that wouldn’t be fazed by someone like me.”
“Now that’s just judgy, maybe his hair was like that at birth, some abberants have weird hair like you, you know?”
“It’s not the hair color, it's the waves with the fade. He’s stuck in 2020 I swear.”
“You have no right to judge with that animal you call your hair.”
“You’re missing a chromosome, be quiet.”
I was about to flip the table, but I just got promoted to U.S marshal, so I had to be classy.
I clasped both of his hands in mine and gazed into those soulless black orbs of his.
“What are you doing? You’re sending mixed signals.” He said.
I squeezed tightly and watched his face shrivel up. Iwyn quickly tugs his hands back.
“What was that for?”
“Just for fun, I do it to all of my friends!”
“We are not friends. Nowhere close.”
“Yeah you did look a little too flustered when I held your hands.”
“Ugh, let’s just catch this thief.”
After we ate it was now 6 p.m. Miles eats Mcdonalds at 4 a.m. and it was about time that the both of us got some rest so we headed back to our hotels.
A loud piano tune played and a hologram of the time popped up. It was 1 a.m already. I got dressed then drove to McDonald’s and immediately recognized the slenderman-like silhouette of Iwyn.
“We’re talking to him and are going to manipulate him into trusting us,” Iwyn said.
He was a part of U.S intelligence, so I trusted him.
we entered Mcdonalds. I could smell the thin, greasy fries and see the disgustingly flat burgers. Good times. Too bad there's no more play place anymore and it would be the perfect place to spy on the thief. I head to the ordering machine and order 2 J Balvin meals and I see Iwyn sashaying towards the two men and striking up a conversation.Who does that at a restaurant? Who does he think he is!? He calls me over but the thief doesn't look amused.
“I’m a bit of feminist myself,” I hear Iwyn saying.
“Why are you talking to me? Here to advertise something at Mcdonalds?” Miles Miso snaps.
“Woah there, Misanthropist much. I’m just joking! It was a joke. I swear.”
Iwyn’s idea of a conversation is embarrassing. He just insulted the man and he looks irritated. I can’t stand the awkward silence. This can’t get any worse…
“Do I know you from somewhere? You look really familiar,” Iwyn lied.
“Uh, no. I don’t hang around people a lot.”
“Oh…”
“I-IF YOU WERE TO ROB A CELEBRITY HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?” Iwyn was losing his nerve. It was kind of funny if I had to be honest.
“You see sir, we're doing a survey to see how people think. It’s research for our university project. My friend is just a bit unhinged and very awkward,” I added.
This situation is beyond repair. I feel compelled to leave this store and just blow up the whole building. Miles gave the both of us quizzical looks, I think he’s onto us.
“Sus. Very sus,” Dimitri whispered.
“Oh, interesting because this feels more like an interrogation,” Miles remarked.
“OH REALLY? Iwyn jokes.
“Can I ask you a question, man with the glasses?” Miles asks.
“You just did,” Iwyn replies.
“Then two questions?”
“You just did.”
“How about 4?”
“You just did.”
“When?”
“Now.”
“Aaaaah. You got me, that was a good one. How can someone with such sharp wit be so awkward? Anyway I'm leaving and I hope I never see you again.”
Iwyn and Miles shake hands for a considerably uncomfortable amount of time.
Miles walks off with his fellow escapee. I think all suspicions were cleared but we got no information from him.
“That went well,” I joke.
“Ha ha. Very funny. I see miles… Where is he?”
“Oh my god he faded into the crowd. We gotta find him!”
They faded into the crowd, literally. I thought he’d be easy to spot, but he was long gone. We took a seat next to the news station. It’s a huge hologram with current events, “news papers” that are just really just digital, videos, tabloids.
“Look at this,” Iwyn pointed at one of the tabloids.
The tabloid had Johnny Vulture’s huge, pulsing eyes on the cover and was a gif of him waving to the crowd of No-Sleep pill fans, Miles was in the front row along with that Russian dude.
“Looks like our next clue,” Iwyn says.
“Alright, Let’s catch this thief!”
Iwyn and I weren’t buddy-buddy. However, he wouldn’t bore me to death like Benson. I’m interested to see where this case takes us.

Hippocratic Oath
The nurse rushes into the emergency room with some random beat up asian dude on the hospital bed. Wait, he has the haircut of the man on that one tabloid. You could only see the back of his head on the cover, but his hair was neon green. How many asian guys have green buzzcuts?
“You’re gonna operate on this man now Dr. Allen! We’re getting paid six figures for this!” I hear the nurse yell.
This is the first time I’m getting to meet doctor Allen. Rumors are that he is the best doctor in New York. I knew this surgery was going to be an intense one, I have to be the best assistant I can.
“Miles Miso has a ruptured eardrum, fractured ankles, arms, and several deep cuts. Poor fellow, I think it’s that dumb tabloid that caused this. Everyone is scared of the man.” Nurse Jane explains.
If something wasn’t done soon Mr. Miso would die out of blood loss. I was set on trying my best to save this man’s life. If the doctor doesn't enter the emergency room in 30 seconds I'm going to take care of this myself.
“Everyone except assistant Carma GET OUT! This is a two person job. Get! Get!”
Thank the lord Dr. Allen came. He was medium height and had bright orange hair and light stubble. He rushed to the hospital bed, quite vigorously. Something was off… He was just standing there. All of the sudden he reaches for the plug.
“What do you think you’re doing!”
“I’m ending this poor man's suffering!” Dr. Allen says.
“I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect!!” I quote from the hippocratic oath, classical version.
“IF IT IS GIVEN ME TO SAVE A LIFE, ALL THANKS. BUT IT MAY ALSO BE WITHIN MY POWERS TO TAKE LIFE.” Of course, the modern version of the oath.
“Well, we use the classical oath around here! You have no right to take that man's life. We’re getting one million dollars for this anyway. Let’s do a six figure job!” I retort in a panic.
While we argued I was fixing the man the whole time. I spent the time giving Miles anesthesia and quickly stitching him up. I did my best without any guidance, I’ve done this enough. I guess the doctor was blinded with rage and couldn’t see me operating on him. Miles starts to stir.
“I thought I ran away from you people. I just want my Mcdonalds fix and to go home. I have a wife. And kids.” Miles says quite unenthusiastically. Although he was lying about having any relationships. I checked his information.
“Iwyn and I got all the information we needed from you. I LEONIDAS MERVURY will finish this!” Leonidas retorts.
“Are you even a doctor? Your name isn’t Jerry Allen i presume” I blurted out.
“I am, within reason, though my name is not Jerry.”
Within the same second he cocks his pistol.
“DIMITRI!” Miles yells.
“SECURITY! SECURITY! THERE IS A MAN WITH A GUN!!” I scream.
At that instant I felt a heavy blow at the back of my head. I was beginning to black out. I could faintly hear everything.
“LETS HOPE YOU CAN DEFLECT THESE BULLETS! SADLY HUMANS ARE FRAGILE!” Leonidas says ready to pull the trigger. He was laughing like a maniac.
A projectile hit the window. Leonidas was in utter shock. Miles took the ventilator off at light speed and jumped out the window, gown on. I crawled toward the window, glass shards cutting me on the way. I saw Miles and some fit, young man drive off. Good for them, I hope I get my 500,000 dollars.

McDonald’s confrontation
“I’m hungry, what do you want,” I said.
“Mmm. Nothing,” Iwyn replied.
“You better not do that thing where you say nothing then immediately ask for some fries the moment I get my order.”
“If you think I like you enough to share food you’d be sorely mistaken. I’m not the type of person to freely engage in cross contamination.”
“Oh my god… Anyways, I’m getting a meal better not complain,” I say as I head into the restaurant.
I order my usual quarter pounder large fries with black coffee and start to head out.
SMACK.
My food flies everywhere and the bun lands on this girl… Or guys' heads, I genuinely can’t tell. Her red shirt is covered in coffee and hair has a piece of meat on it.
“Are you okay!” I shout.
“Yeah I am,” she says while in a fit of laughter. Christ, her voice was not what I was expecting.
I look and see her friends behind her laughing along and I can’t help but think this is a joke…
“No I’m really sorry I was just running and--,” her own talking is cut off by her obnoxious wheezing.
I’m actually concerned it’s giving Joker vibes the way she can’t stop.
“And--,” she runs towards the bathroom to presumably calm down.
“I’m so sorry she laughs way too much… We were joking around then that happened,” A boy with blue hair tells me, eyes heavy.
“No it’s alright, tell your friend next time to watch where she’s going though,” I retort.
“Don’t worry I will,” He replies while the friends in the background are dying of laughter.
I head towards the door. As my hand reach towards the knob I hear a loud,
“SORRY AGAIN,”
Teens these days. This was actually a nice change of pace compared to all the karens and jerks at the city so I wasn’t exactly fuming with rage, just a little shocked that I’d let something like this happen. I definitely need to train more.

Leonidas Villain Origin
Tick, tick, tick…
Finally! I was waiting for this ancient clock to get to 3:00 p.m. You’d only see these at vintage stores. My phone and smartwatch were all in my suitcase getting inspected at the front of the airport. Who uses analog clocks anymore? Everything is on a hologram which is so much easier. When I was in elementary school, I remember the kids clowning one dude named Vi for knowing how to read one of those things. Now I just need to get Iwyn and my things and we’re good.
There was a huge crowd at the airport’s arcade and getting through it seemed virtually impossible.
“Wooah, look at him go,” An old man says to a kind-looking old lady.
“Aberrants these days, they take all the fun out of sports since you know they’ll win every time,” the old woman replies.
Iwyn was going ham on the Dance Rush platform. Mans was shuffling like a maniac but had rhythm too. His feet weren’t missing a beat. It was bizarre to see him do this every time. He’d go from a pretentious businessman in a suit to a pretentious business man in a suit going ballistic on the Dance Rush machine.
“C’mon Iwyn, we gotta go,” I shouted over the crowd.
“G-give me one second, I’m so close to finishing level 1000” he says, clearly out of breath.
The keys passing through the platform were probably too quick to see for most, but to me it looked like a slight challenge. Iwyn needs to step his game up.
5 minutes later he was done and his dress shirt was covered in sweat.
“Gross.”
“Well I just beat the second place record, now I just need to get to level 1,500.”
“I think this is what you’d call ‘a fool's errand’,” I say.
“It’s only a fool's errand if you’re getting nothing in return. Dance Rush helps my coordination and stamina. You try dancing for 2 hours straight,” Iwyn says and flicks me in the forehead.
We made it to New Orleans' largest airport and I grabbed my stuff and headed to the seating area for flight B, New York. I think the airport may just be one of the most diverse places. Even if you're in a predominantly white area like Portland, a toddler might just see a black person for the first time.
Flight B, ready. A hologram popped up on everybody's phones.
We got into the flight and walked to the first row seats. Sometimes I have a hard time grasping the luxuries I have compared to my life back then and it humbles me a bit. After sitting for a bit I pull up the information to show Iwyn.
“So we’re planning an ambush?” I ask.
You’re correct, my team and I have spent months preparing for the perfect surprise. By straying away from our main case it lures them into a false sense of security. We will go to New York and get him at the MacDonald's. Snipers will be at every angle.”
“We all know snipers don’t affect aberrants. We ought to bring some Ag-90’s.”
“You’re right, but at least we can take out two of the three, Phil and Dimitri.”
“Should we really be killing his friends though? I don’t think they are affiliated with his criminal record,” I ask.
“You’d be surprised,” he pulls a hologram up and it's a picture of a young Asian man with another caucasian at a celebrity party. “They’re the ones that robbed Elon Musk’s home, I have irrefutable evidence I can show you at any time,” Iwyn says.
“I’ll take your word for it.” With that, I turn to the window and look at all the ant-sized skyscrapers and peer at the sky advertisements with disgust. Why’d we have to pollute the sky with those?
“Arriving at New York City,” the attendant says. Kids liked to poke through the hologram and would get zapped as a result, fun times.
After leaving the boarded plane, getting our things, and leaving the airport I finally got to breathe in the hostile smog New Yorkers call ‘air’.
“I’m definitely going to visit Melissa after this is all over,” I say as we pass the Hero’s headquarters.
“Sure is big,” Iwyn chimes in. “Sometimes I wish I’d taken the hero route but the fame and injury rate is overrated.”
“Yeah, Melissa says the top 20 are weird and annoying for the most part. Although, I’d be used to it because I’m working with you already.”
“Jesus! We can’t have a wholesome moment with each other ever can we?” Iwyn exclaimed.
I let out a belly laugh. I found it hilarious that Iwyn would care so much about what I think of our friendship.
The walk to Miles’ favorite McDonald’s took about 30 minutes and it was really nice. Last assignment with Iwyn we were placed in Idaho for 20 days which was super boring. The city was like playing BeanBoozled, each block there would be a different smell. Bakery sweets to sewer trash…
“Finally! Ok, Leonidas, our sniper has spotted all three of them at the table closest to the door,” Iwyn said.
“Alright, just give me the go ahead whenever you’re ready.”
I found it extremely odd that they’d eat McDonald's at 3:00 a.m. But who am I to judge?
“Now,” Iwyn said in my earpiece.
I used my smart glasses to observe every part of the McDonald's and to make sure no bystanders were nearby. I walk into the near empty McDonald's and Immediately take Phil by his shirt collar and throw him out the window. I knew Miles could make out what happened, but Dimitri was completely lost.
“Phil,” Dimitri Cried.
Phil was unconscious. I quickly advanced towards Dimitri, my handcuffs were in my left and I thrust my right hand towards the nape of his neck.
CRUNCH.
Christ! My forearm was broken from the sheer strength of Miles’ blow. He was not a rookie, that's for sure. I can only count with one hand the number of people that have successfully hit me.
Soon after, Miles and I are in a heated battle. I missed each swing by a hair and Miles was relentless, this felt like a battle to the death but I knew better. He’s a thief, not a killer. I see Dimitri run out of the door and he is quickly apprehended by some agents. I managed to land a precise right hook and devastating jab that knocked him off his feet. Miles got up and proceeded to run.
I was not about to let him run free. I destroyed everything near him, which resulted in a fire. While the whole place was burning down I kept a close eye on Miles to make sure he couldn’t get away.
“Backup will arrive soon,” Iwyn chimed in over the intercom.
“Backup? Why would I need backup?”
“Dimitri already broke loose somehow and we can’t be sure you’ll catch Miles.”
Christ, were we really this incompetent? I mean how many times has Dimitri magically made it out?
“Leonidas watch out,” I recognized that voice immediately. It was my sister.
“Why did they bring you out of all people?” I groaned.
“I’m literally a human extinguisher, I secrete mono ammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate.”
And with that we both knew what we had to do. Melissa was extinguishing the flames while I knocked out an unconscious Miles. Now that that was done all I have to do is get Dimitri. He was crouched near the outside menu. Right when I turned him around a huge shock wave knocked me into the McDonald’s walls and destroyed everything around me. He had an atithmic bomb, how did I not notice?
I felt nothing but pure shock and agony. My arms were on fire and the heat singed my face. My consciousness was fading and the only thing I could see was my sister lying on a pile of bricks.
“LEONIDAS!” iwyn said.
His eyes were bloodshot and face looked sunken in.
“Mm… yeah,” I croaked.
“How are you?”
“Fine. You look like how I feel, man.”
“Have you taken a look at yourself, you’re all swollen and bruised,” Iwyn said.
He seemed to be holding something back.
“What is it?” I asked. “What happened?”
“They all got away…” He hesitated. “And Melissa didn’t make it.”
“What do you mean didn’t make it? She was unconscious last time I saw her but not seriously injured.”
“She was impaled several times in the abdomen, it was collateral damage,” Iwyn said.
“Collateral damage? Melissa can’t get hurt by such things? Is she in the hospital? I gotta go see her right now!”
I start to get up and Iwyn gently pushes me down and turns on the TV.
“We mourn the death of Melissa Mervury,” The news reporter says. “She fought valiantly to protect others and was taken away from us too soon.”
I immediately sank into the hospital bed and felt my eyes well up. I held up my head and started to laugh.
“Aaa… This can’t be happening. How’d she die and they got to run away like the cowards they are.”
“I don’t think now is the time you should be thinking of them. We can always try next time you know?”
“Luck. That has to be his ability. I’ve only heard of that type of ability once in my life but how many times has he escaped by a mere whim or dodged a bullet by a hair. Sometimes aberrants can have the ability, but not the physical enhancements.”
“You’re obsessed.” Iwyn said flatly. “How many times have we gone over a plan or a reason why? I used to think it was just you being ambitious or hyper fixating on something but this has gone too far. We should give this case to somebody else.”
“I’m obsessed because it controls my life! SO many of my relationships have been destroyed by this and he has to pay,” I quivered.
I felt so pathetic, my jaw was clenched and my lips trembled. This pitiful attempt to hold in my tears wouldn’t last much longer.
“Let’s look at other options,” He said while taking out his phone.
“Get out.”
“I guess I will. But tomorrow we’re going to figure out what to do from here.” Iwyn reassured and left.
This must be the universe’s sign to do better. All this time I’ve been going by the books, avoiding murder, but that has done nothing! Miles will pay for this.

Other notes about your character:
It is Monday morning and your character needs to get up and get ready for their day. Describe this character's morning as they get ready for work/school/day.
I wake up, calmed by pale moonlight. Then I turn to look at my clock to check the time, already aware that it is probably nearing midnight. Due to odd working hours and working overtime daily I’m either awake early in the afternoon or at the crack of dawn. I head downstairs and make a cup of coffee, looking out the window and thinking about the laborious work that lies ahead. My “morning” routine feels like the only thing I can control these days so I take it very seriously. A quick workout, shower, and then ironing my suit to perfection. I may be doing dirty work but I make sure I look good while doing it.
Your character has a nightmare. Describe the nightmare and how your character reacts to it.
I look down at my feet, they’re tiny--the size of a child’s. I bend down to tie my shoelaces and am surprised to hear my name.
“Leonidas, can you get me my stack of papers, the Miles Miso case, remember?” A friendly voice says.
“Wait… I’m busy,” I say while struggling to tie my buttery smooth shoelaces.
I curse in frustration, My shoelaces began to disintegrate like sand then materialize again, yet they still won’t tie! I recognize that the friendly lady is actually one of my favorite tv characters, Strawberry Shortcake and she hums a sweet melody. I appreciate her patience and let her know I will be done tying my shoes in a few minutes. Then, the room darkens as the sun rapidly sets… Her humming stops.
“We have work to do Leonidas, you have to finish that case!” Strawberry yells, her voice distorting,
“I’m nearly done please wait for me”, I plead.
I scream in horror, unable to move as my favorite tv character contorts, limbs elongating and her jaw now hanging from her chin. The room is now engulfed in darkness and all I can see is her toxic, green eyes staring me down as she stands in the corner, towering over the closet. Everything, the birds, the townspeople, the music went silent and all you can hear is her heaving like an animal, getting ready to tear their prey apart. I quickly tie my shoes and run out the door, she's right behind me.
I ran up the spiral staircase and the walls seemed to get tighter and tighter. Strawberry grabs me and--
I wake up, taking a quick, short breath. Then I surveyed my surroundings and am glad to be here.
Best Friend
I quickly head out of the hotel lobby and take a sip of the breakfast bar's coffee. The sheer heat of the bitter drink singes my tongue, leaving it numb.
"Jesus Christ!" I say under my breath. My hands burning from the flimsy cup added with the freezing car almost ruined my morning, but today was bound to be a good day.
I start to drive to the sanctuary and my mind wanders... What will my new partner be like? How old? Will we be the ultimate agents? side-by-side NCIS type stuff? That was a humorous thought, they were most likely going to be some old schmuck to boss me around. That was my last partner--Dr. Benson his name was-- that geezer though his age gave him the right to micro manage everything I did. The only thing I know about my mysterious partner is that he's a U.S Marshall at the age of 25, pretty impressive I guess.
I am pleasantly surprised to see an almost empty parking lot at the FBI headquarters. It is 4 am though, only the greats are awake at this time.
I head in and am greeted by the director, Mr. Wayne.
"Hello sir," I say.
"You will be working with this gentleman for the next few years."
He's been on the run for over two decades and we can't seem to get a lead but you young men show promise.
I start to zone out, how could I be so unlucky. I already know this man will be insufferable...
Family secret
"Good day to you too, sir!" My dad said as he left the priest.
Church never felt like a safe place to me, everybody had their secrets. Maybe my parents even more so. Their bright smiles and cheery demeanor would fade just like that when we reached the car. Most of the time it was silence, but every now and then our dad would explode.
"Who was running around during prayer!" He'd shout. "If nobody confesses now you all will be punished when we get back!"
"I-it was me, please don't hurt Leonidas," Melissa muttered as tears were streaming down her face.
"Quit your crying right now before I give you something to cry about!" He said as he raised a fist.
The car went silent once again. You could only hear the faint whimpers of my sister in the corner. I started tearing up too, but if I cried the situation would only get worse. She'd always cover for me and I never understood why. It broke my heart each time. My mother would never do a thing to help us since she was also a victim. The worst part is she'd take her frustrations out on us too. The moment Melissa took me and we drove off is the first time I've ever felt safe in my life. We never got justice and we didn't want it. The only thing that mattered is that we escaped and were free at last.
The Final Heist (told from the villain's perspective. Miles’ partner Phil)
It’s been 2 years since I left that cursed island with Creak. The War lasted a whole year and in the end nobody won! Well, technically America won but when everyone left the godforsaken piece of land I blew it up with the bombs my grandfather left me! The government was planning on doing some unholy things on the monochromatic island. I learned all this from Creak, by the end of the war he was ranked up to major general. Creak and his crew made it out alive and I hid in one of the boats and made it back to America. In retrospect, It was a miracle that Miles took my only boat. I saved the whole world and made some big connections.
I plan on meeting Miles at McDonalds, he changed the location since the one he cherished so much had been blown up. He said that we would need gadgets so he’s bringing someone with him. I wonder who they are, how exciting!
The exterior Mcdonalds at New York looked extravagant, I entered and was surprised to see Johnny Vulture sitting next to Miles,
“Good morning Y'all.” I sang.
“It’s 5am Phil, there is no need for such a greeting.” Miles grumbled.
“WHY hellooo, I hear you’re the one with the money Phil!” John Vulture yelled.
“You just woke up the whole city John, I hope you're happy.” Miles said.
“I received a huge sum of money from my past pyramid schemes and scams, who knew a president could be so gullible! I’m not proud of my accomplishments so I’ve been donating and giving Miles more cats.”
“Didn't I say that was our secret phil!”
“ANYWAY, I have some weapons and devices you can use on your heist. If you do succeed you can buy all these weapons. As a visionary leader I can assure you that these weapons will be of use in the future.”
“You’re a leader in the worst way possible. And we won’t be needing all of them.” Miles grumbled.
I took a sip from my sprite. Why is this spicy? “Maybe we will, Miles. Let's see what this man has to offer.”
“The first weapon is called C.D. When you hit someone it gives them a random chronic disease such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke, and arthritis!”
“Oh my… That’s a lot worse than just killing them. I would never wish that on someone.”
“I agree with Phil. Chronic disease won’t do anything severe in the short term.”
“That’s not what I meant!”
“Next weapon.” He pulled out something in his bag, revealing a flame thrower. “This may look like a flame thrower but it’s far from that. This baby slows down your enemy temporarily, you can also decelerate any object completely by hitting this button. This object would be very helpful on your heist don’tcha think?”
“I don’t like the fact that it’s temporary.”
“We WILL be taking this Miles, the fact that it’s temporary is a good thing! I’d like this heist to have little casualties.”
John reviewed his weapons, It varied from the usual guns to a suitcase that can carry anything. In total we spent 150 million dollars, not bad at all.
“I’d thank you but I know what type of man you are, the type to destroy someone's favorite place.” Miles grieved.
“SOMEONE’S FAVORITE PLACE!? You're the one who destroyed my evil lair! You know how long it took to rebuild it. How can two people destroy a whole mansion!! Maybe because the emissary was there!”
“How did you escape the emissary anyway?” I asked.
“Dimitri and I got lucky many times, but the kid was really strong. Leonidas went to jail for 2 months since he was about to blow up the whole city. He’s still the emissary but they stopped chasing me for now.”
“Where’s Dimitri”
“I left him”
“WHAT!?”
“For a world where humans can exceed their limits he’s fine…”
A young fellow with Gucci clothes came in and stood next to John. He probably was waiting for a weapon.
“If you were to see someone so many levels above you, what would you do? Cower in fear I bet?” Jayden asked.
Miles got up from his chair, “Probably rob you.”
It’s been three months since my encounter with miles. It took a really long time to gain the trust of the manager in the jewelry shop. Of course, he didn't know who I was since I changed my whole identity. The black mullet really suits me. Miles is supposed to set the bar on fire in 3 minutes, the jewelry store was located across Times square so he would have to be quick. The manager left to go on a vacation so I had the whole store to myself since it was 2am. This is the cleanest heist I’ve ever been a part of, how exciting!
Miles stormed into the store “How many minutes do we have?”
“About 7.”
I hastily added the most expensive diamonds into the bag, as a normal person would. Three security guards came in but were quickly apprehended by the decelerator. A random customer came in, I saw Miles pull out the C.D and shot the man.
“What happened to me, my joints are all stiff.” He fainted.
Miles looked at his gun, then back at the poor man. “Guess you have severe arthritis. I’d take some painkillers and try physical therapy…”
“Didn’t we agree that we weren’t going to buy the gun! You should be glad that he didn’t get something worse Miles!”
“Ya I think that was super overkill. We should’ve shot the man.”
“No!!”
I performed hypnosis on the two security guards and got ready to leave.
Miles grabbed my arm.
“I see a group of cops on the second floor, we should use the grapple hook and go to the next building.”
I wrote to him in a letter that I got over my acrophobia. That was a lie!! The book made me feel invincible for a week but once I stepped in my hot air balloon I cried and got off!
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“I lied! I’m still terrified of heights and if I go I’ll have a HEART ATTACK.”
I felt my eyes watering because I was so scared.
“Fine we’ll go together, you can close your eyes or whatever! I mean, would you like to go to jail again.”
“Noo.” I blubbered.
I held onto Miles for dear life even though I was already harnessed. We began to slide, I metaphorically screamed my lungs out. He cut a hole into the window using one of the gadgets and we went in.
“Here, drink this and you’ll look completely different.”
“Ok.” I said, drinking the substance. I was still shaking from that experience, I don’t think I’ll ever conquer that fear.
Miles had the appearance of a bright, young man while I was an ancient looking man. We went down to the lobby and immediately saw Leonidas Mervury standing next to Iwyn Roscoe.
“Why does this word hate meeee” Leonidas whined.
“Maybe because you’re a backstabbing little twat.” Iwyn scolded
“Well it’s not my fault you were in the way.”
“You almost blew me up because the two heathens were within range!”
“One sacrifice to save many lives!”
Iwyn raised his voice speaking rather quickly. “You’re a psychopath!”
“I’m a psychopath making a difference. Anyway, now they have a Stormbreaker working on it! A HERO!”
“Well, I bet she’s more capable than you. Actually almost anyone would be more capable than you. They won’t blow an entire building full of civilians just to kill two men. You also killed my laptop.”
“I didn't know that piece of metal meant so much to you, okay? I’ll buy you a new one.”
“I can buy it myself! Who knows what you’ll do to mine… Maybe add a bomb so once I open it the device will detonate.”
“I think you’re holding a grudge, It's been two years since that happened.”
“I think you’re the one holding a grudge wanting to chase them. You have this weird vendetta with the green haired thief.”
“Melissa would still be here if it weren’t for him… And he burned all my gorgeous hair off! It took a year to regrow it! Ugh, let’s not mess up our current mission.”
The two men went into the elevator.
“Now we have to sell all these diamonds, what a drag.” Mile groaned
“I think selling the jems is the funnest part!”
We gained 500 million dollars from the exchange and split it evenly. I needed all the money to donate to the Sudan water project and many other causes. I think losing a few dozen pieces of precious jewels is worth it. Miles settled in a house near mines. He brought a cat cafe and an adoption center.
I turn on the television listening to the new year's countdown.
“I can’t believe it’s 2055 already Miles”
“Emissary is currently investigating the scene. Potentially thinks it’s past robber Miles… Mr. Mervury is working with Iwyn Rosecoe.” Miles read.
“What did you just say?”
“Not again…” Miles agonized.
“I suppose life is getting stale.”

Plot Structure
Exposition/Introduction: It starts off in New Orleans and Leonidas is a new FBI agent that has cracked case after case. He’s considered a prodigy and is soon given the Miles case from president Laurie Sans. He meets his partner/rival Iywn Rosecoe.
Setting (be as detailed as possible): It is in New York because that is where Miles lives. The story begins in 2050 where aberrants were born from late generation Alpha and generation Beta. Their society is heavily focused on heroes and space travel has slowed down due to world-threatening villains and the crime rate increasing. There are heroes that are police officers if they were celebrities and get high appraisal.
In that setting, what can your character (include at least two examples for each of the following)
See? The huge city buildings and holographic ads. There are statues of former heroes and the sky in New York is black due a villians’ irreversible spell.
Hear? The sound of cars, yelling, and shouting.
Taste? They can taste the bitter, polluted air.
Touch? Their feet touch the limestone sidewalk and smooth steel city buildings. The buildings are extra fortified due to heroes smashing into it all of the time.
Smell? They smell the smoky air.
Summary of the protagonist's normal life: His normal day starts off with him discussing a case of another criminal. They cover Miles sometimes, but that’s not their main focus. They’ll work on the case, fight villains, and go back to their homes. Most of the time they’re traveling so their home is the nearest hotel.
Describe the inciting incident: Leonidas’ sister Melissa died and now he will stop at nothing to catch Miles.
Rising Action: Leonidas and Iwyn find Miles’ arms dealer, Johnny Vulture and they have to imprison him and get information about Miles.
Obstacles and conflicts: Getting into Johnny Vultures laboratory and shutting down his corrupt drug laundering operation.
Protagonist's goals: Get to Weapon Dealer Johnny Vulture so he can find out where Miles gets his weapons. Hold Johnny hostage so when he gives the weapons to Miles Leonidas will capture Miles alone. Dimitri won’t be around so luck won’t be on his side.
Antagonist's actions: Johnny is left with no choice but to follow through with the hostage situation because if he goes to jail it’ll give him a bad image. Also, he can’t bail out of jail since he’s now a part of Leonidas’ mission. If anybody finds out that Leonidas is tracking Miles it’d mean trouble so the best solution would be to kill Johnny but Leonidas shows “mercy” for his own personal gain.
In the end, they throw Johnny Vulture in jail but he reminds them that his product is everywhere and there will always be somebody to fill his position. That being the secret brains behind Johnny's weapon dealer, the one who makes them, Ian Sanders. (They never know his name though.)
Climax: The abduction of Iwyn Rosecoe.
Major turning point: Iwyn is kidnapped and his only clue is a warped hun. Will Leonidas overcome his grudge against Dimitri to save iwyn or not?
Final confrontation between Protagonist and Antagonist: Miles saves Iwyn or Leonidas.
Falling Action: They found out it was a Mobster Jaeden who buys weapons from Johnny and runs half of the organized crime in New York that kidnapped him and he was going to exchange Iwyn for Johnny’s freedom. Iwyn successfully makes it out alive and law enforcement shoots up the whole place against Leonidas’ orders. Miles dies in front of him.
Resolution of conflicts: Miles is no longer alive.
Protagonist's transformation: Leonidas feels deep regret and guilt for the first time in ages.
Closure for supporting characters: Phil goes through a lot of grief and Dimitri does too but goes back to Russia.
Resolution: Leonidas feels empty so he abandons the case and lets Phil and Dimitri go.
Final outcome: No justice was served. One of the criminals died and the others got to go free.
Lessons learned: Revenge achieves nothing.
Closing thoughts or messages: Everybody is not black and white. There are villian-like heroes and hero-like villains.
Subplots
Subplot 1: Meeting Johnny Vultures No-Sleep Pill’s most rich and dedicated customers.
Purpose:Remind Leonidas why he solves crime and needs to do better.
Characters involved: Little girl and her cocaine addict parents.
Connection to the main plot: He sees this little girl in a similar predicament as he was when he was a kid and it reminds him of his pure motivations at the start of his career. Seeing this girl actually adopted by one of his coworkers flips a switch and he changes for the better.
Subplot 2: Gray Island Arc.
Purpose: Shows how Dimitri met Phil and where Miles and Phil are heading. This subplot shows you how Phil and Dimitri started off as semi-normal people pulled into this hellish situation because of Miles.
Characters involved: Phil, Miles, Creak, and Dimitri.
Connection to the main plot: It’s where the reader first hears about Phil, Miles, and Dimitri.
(Repeat for additional subplots)
Explain in a paragraph what will happen in your novel:
It starts off with a flashback to Miles and Phil stealing the now deceased almighty hero Annika’s Cullian crystal in a museum at Las Vegas. It returns to present day and New-Orleans Fbi agent/ crime prodigy Leonidas is tasked to find Miles with his partner Iwyn Rosecoe. They meet Miles in McDonalds but he runs away and they find evidence of Miles’ Arms dealer Johnny Vulture hidden in the background of a tabloid. After multiple failed attempts to capture Miles his sister Melissa dies due to her trying to help Leonidas catch Miles. They track down Johnny, imprison him, and find out that Miles is buying a service from a man that’ll make you disappear. In the midst of tracking that man down Iwyn is abducted by one of Johnny’s favorite customers Jaeden. Leonidas let’s Miles go and tracks down Iwyn. Miles even comes back knowing that it’s a trap to warn Leonidas before he enters the building and Leonidas begrudgingly accepts his advice and makes a plan to safely capture Iwyn. During that time, he got to know a lot about Miles and Miles got to know a lot about him. Once he gets Iwyn, Miles is shot and killed by the crossfire between the agents and gangsters. Leonidas let’s Phil and Dimitri go and is promoted. He is unsatisfied with the ending and tells Iwyn that he’s going to take a break for a while due to the trauma. Iwyn and Leonidas depart and pursue their own passion but no deep down inside that one day, they’ll be needed to work together someday in the future.

Text
Seductive- Leonidas munched on the sweet, creamy lettuce. Savoring the salty after taste and looking straight into Iwyn's baby blue orbs. The sandwich juices fell onto his lap and ran down his thigh.
"What are you doing, Leonidas?" Iwyn asked, his eyes were wide and cheeks were flushed. "We are in the middle of a park and you're acting like a frat!"
"Just enjoying my sandwich," Leonidas said, with a cheeky grin. "Can't handle it, just walk away..."
"You are ridiculous! Nobody eats a sandwich like that, what are you trying to prove!" Iwyn said in a hushed tone even though nobody could hear them.
Leonidas continued this monstrosity of an act. After he was done he planned on telling Iwyn why he'd done it, but he had to savor the moment.
Neutral- It was a sunny afternoon at Gates Chili High school. I plopped onto the rusted steel bench where my friends and I usually eat lunch. Then, I took out my unseasoned ham sandwich. Each bite felt gnawing on a piece of bark with salt sprinkled on top, nothing special. After I ate the whole thing it just felt like I was fueling my body rather than enjoying the meal. Not bad, not good. It was just a continuous motion of opening then closing my jaw and eventually swallowing the remains of ham in between to slices of insignificant carbs. I dig into my lunch bag again and am relieved to find out that I actually have packed that Panera cookie. My meal was saved.
Intimidating- "Eat. The sandwich. NOW!" My mom said sternly.
"But..." I trailed off, I knew I'd be forced to eat one of the worst ham sandwiches in the world.
I felt my stomach drop and my anxiety rise as I recounted the past times I puked while eating it. Each time I'd get a scolding so it was a lose lose situation. My eyes were watering because of the hopeless situation but I knew I had to get it over with.
Each bite was horrible and I lifted my tongue to my gums to lessen the taste and make the experience just that much more bearable. My mom was eyeing me and left when I ate it all.
Disgusting- Phil's lip quivered as he saw what was presented before him.
"Do you like how the sandwich looks?" Miles inquired
Seeing Miles happy was like spotting BigFoot in the wild so Phil decided to feed into his happiness. He couldn't bring himself to do otherwise.
"It looks wonderful!" Phil said.
He picked up the burnt sandwich and could smell a faint odor of Greek yogurt. Why Miles why? Slowly, but surely he lifted the sandwich up to his lips and paused. There were black specks on the meat...
"I think it'd be best that you leave me alone with this sandwich, I'd feel self conscious eating in front of you."
"You always eat in front of me, come on, just take a bite," Miles said.
Phil's stomach fell as he opened his mouth. Phil felt my eyes watering as I took the first bite. Each bite was a surprise, first it was the mold, then the Greek yogurt took over the senses. His eyes watered each bite and by the time he was finished he was covered in sweat as if he had just run a marathon.
