the ravens eye diner

the ravens eye is a diner fixated in the middle of the university campus. it’s mostly ran by students, with waiters, cooks, and hosts all working to make a bit of money to get them through their studies. y/n is no different from the rest, working as a waitress for the quaint diner. but taking orders, running food, and cleaning booths gets a bit mundane after a while, so where will she find light in the diner?
multiple haikyuu characters x f!reader, all separate
warnings/notes: university au, restaurant au, basing this off of my experiences as a server, possible kys jokes, possible language, possible drinking, grammar mistakes, maybe a bit ooc but i try my hardest, each character has a different section, none of the stories are connected, maybe a bit of smau, but mostly written, i’m not exactly sure yet, may take me a while to finish this, and it may be a little overly ambitious but YAY! check individual characters for warnings!

whoever spread the rumor that kuroo tetsuro is the guy to look for when looking for romance and dating advice — count your days, because not only were they dead wrong, but he’s convinced that the rumors have put a curse on him too.
sure, he can give a few off-handed comments about yaku or lev’s relationship problems here and there, but never, ever, ever did he claim to be someone skilled at it.
now look where the rumors gotten him.
flushed in the face, stumbling on his words, tripping on his feet — does this look like any guy worth looking to for dating advice?
“will you help me get a date?”
if it was any of his friends asking, kuroo would be all wingman-mode in no time, no questions asked, and he’d give up his full and unbridled support immediately — but no, unfortunately, that is so not the case.
helping his friends with relationship advice? sure. no harm there. but helping co-workers who barely speak to him at the workplace? c’mon man.
“listen man, i’m not really sure i can help–”
“i know i’m just a random co-worker to you and i know we don’t really talk aside from the “will you pass me the stapler” conversations we have during work, but i heard that you’re the guy to talk to when it comes to these stuff so please help me.”
the guy in front of him really doesn’t look like he’d be backing down anytime soon. his hands clasped together as he bows lowly, muttering over and over again “please” and how he’ll “forever be indebted”.
kuroo looks around at the office floor, a deep flush setting on the back of his neck as he sees the only pther person in the room between him, his lunatic co-worker, and the door so-tempting, well, was you.
(and you had your airbuds in, your fingers incessantly typing loudly, a focused gaze fixated on your laptop screen, so he knew, he couldn’t ask you for help either).
“alright, fine.” kuroo sighs, suddenly feeling so much smaller than usual. “who’s the unlucky bastard ya got your eyes on?”
and kuroo fights back the cringe welling up in his stomach when he watches his co-worker in front of him stand up straight almost immediately — a smile so wide on their face, it almost gives him the creeps.
“oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!” he says, and he almost looks like he’s about to literally jump for joy.
“i’ll tell you, but you have to promise never to tell anyone.” his co-worker holds out his pinky finger as he says the word promise.
are they 12?
kuroo transfers the coffee mug he’s been nursing from his free hand to the other, careful not to spill, and careful to roll his eyes.
reluctantly, he holds out his pinky, “i promise.”
“now tell me who it is so we can get this over with.”
now, kuroo is a sensible guy. he’s top pick on becoming employee of the month, he’s a good worker, diligent and polite, he’s a great peer, and you can always count on him to pass you a stapler when you ask for it.
he is a good co-worker. the model standard.
but like he said before — he’s been cursed by this rumor.
his co-worker leaned forward, one hand brought up near his mouth to cover his lips as he says the answer to his question, and kuroo, admittedly curious, leans close too, one hand shoved deep in his suit pocket, the other holding onto a hot coffee mug.
“who do you have your eyes on?”
a second passes.
and the coffee mug spills from kuroo’s hand, a slip of his fingers and suddenly the floor is a mess. his co-worker gets the bulk of the thankfully, not-so-hot liquid, and the mug falls to the floor with a sounding “clank”.
eyes from all over the room shoot up to the sudden noise, and kuroo gives everyone a sheepish smile.
did he really have to say your name?
“quite a mess you made back there.” your teasing voice brings kuroo back to where he is now.
it’s a little bit past 7pm, most of your co-workers have packed their belongings and went on home for the day, and as you take a final glance at the clock, it’s safe to say you’re ready to go home now too.
kuroo hides his head in his arms, grumbling loudly at the recollection, “don’t tease me about that. i feel terrible.”
“you should. you got coffee all over his white shirt.” you tease a bit more, a slight laugh in your voice as you hear your best friend let out another grumble.
he’s still tucked away in his arms on the desk next to yours, “aren’t best friends supposed to be supportive or something?”
kuroo’s finished all his work about thirty minutes ago, and now, as he’s waited for you to finish yours all this time, you finally give him a gentle nudge on his back, telling him the two of you can finally go.
“i am being supportive.” you defend, and it takes a minute for your laptop to close down, so you lean back on your chair and you shrug, “just buy him a new shirt.”
that gets kuroo to look up from his sulking briefly, his eyes squinted as he complains, tone heavy, “can we stop talking about him please?”
and you laugh, “wow, you sound like he’s the one who spilt his hot coffee on you.”
another grumble (and another laugh from you).
kuroo gets up quickly from his sulking, a deep frown on his face as he crosses his arms across his chest, turning the swivel chair dramatically to face you.
“okay: a. it was not hot coffee. and b. it was not entirely my fault.” “he kept asking me about some dating advice on how to ask someone out.”
you tilt your head, “and he came to you for help?”
he gives you a look. “i’m going to ignore what you’re implying by that.”
“you’ve been single since high school.” you point out, grin wide, “does he know that?”
and kuroo rolls his eyes, making a face, “no, he doesn’t. sorry i don’t put it on my CV or resume.”
remember that curse kuroo was talking about earlier? well, it’s not only limited to him spilling his lukewarm coffee all over his coworkers.
truth be told, he really does think he’s been cursed by this rumor: everyone’s been calling him such weird names; ladies man (what ladies?), playboy (he plays volleyball, if thats what you mean), heartbreaker (the only broken thing here is a coffee mug and that’s because he has a severe case of the butterfingers and an even worse case of please-dont-ask-me-to-help-you-ask-out-my-best-friends-who-i-feel-weird-about).
he gets asked for relationship advice all the time, dating tips or romantic help, and it all just feels so deeply ironic and cursed to him because — well — he’s the one in desperate need for them.
“man, it’s been a long day.” you yawn, arms stretching above your head as you give a big stretch. it’s nice working an office job, but man, it sure does take a lot out of you.
like a cliche scene in a movie, he looks at you now, and you’re not looking at him, but he peeks a little bit from his arms as he watches you.
kuroo perks up slightly, “dinner?”
“sure.” you shrug, your bag slinged on your shoulder as you give him a lazy smile.
you’re too busy fixing your desk to notice him, but the tips of his ears go slightly pink at the thought.
he’s the one who needs the romantic help.
kuroo grumbles to himself. he feels like he’s at an impasse. unsure what to do next. unsure if he should be doing anything at all.
after all, if he was the most unromantic person in the world, then you might just be a close second.
i mean— what else is there for kuroo to do for you to realize?
he helps you move, he brings you food, he drives you home. he annoys you, he bothers you, he sits next to you on purpose.
do you need him to write you love letters? he doesn’t know how to do that.
but he does know how to bring you an extra jacket in case you forget yours, and he knows that you take your coffee with extra ice and no whipped cream, he knows to have a few extra band-aids in his pocket because of how clumsy you get, and he knows how to stack the books on your shelves the way you like it.
what else does he need to do?
“dinner for the two of us?” he asks you from the table, rising slowly now when he sees you’re almost finished cleaning up.
you chortle, “yes, i assumed it would be you and me involved in this dinner that, oh, i don’t know, you asked me to.”
he leans back on the chair, “just the two of us?”
“well,” you turn to look at him, making a face, “don’t make it creepy.”
he rolls his eyes at that. you’re always quick with it when you talk to him. and it’s the exact kind of thing that pushes him deeper into this problem of his.
i mean, you really must have cursed him, for goodness sake, because what other explanation is there?
kuroo is a smart, sometimes dignified, sometimes arrogant young man, and for some reason, it all crumbles away when he’s with you. he fumbles over his words and he trips on his own feet and he feels his ears get so hot that maybe he needs to get it checked.
he knows the word for it — but it’s so much easier calling it a curse.
his voice feels quieter now, “like a date?”
there’s a flush on his face that almost matches how pink his ears have gotten.
for a moment, you look up from what you’re doing, and you look at him, but it doesn’t really look like it changes your expression.
“yes, kuroo.” you tell him again, and this time, he doesn’t miss how your smile suddenly turns into something more teasing, “i already said i’d go.”
he feels more frustrated now.
how are you so carefree about this? how can you just digest this so easily? one more second and he’s gonna melt into a puddle and you’re over there making fun of him.
kuroo crosses his arms at you, “you do know what a date is, right?”
and you scoff, standing up from your chair now that your things are all packed. “i assume food is involved?”
and your companion looks at you with squinted eyes. unamused. but the pink in his ears gives him away too easily. “yes, food is involved.”
you smile at him widely, and you pull him up out of his chair as he makes a dramatic gesture of rolling his eyes and dragging away from you as you tease him.
“i know what a date is.” you say, and it’s a whole lot quieter now when you realize it’s almost just the two of you left on the office floor.
kuroo takes the bag on your shoulder as the two of you stand together, and you wonder slightly if he even still realizes he’s doing that or if it’s completely out of habit now with how often he does it.
he’s so much taller than you but you always had a way to make him feel so much smaller. “and you’re saying yes?”
it wouldn’t be an outright confession of his feelings, but honestly, what else could he do except tell you straight up what he feels for you? he doesn’t know how to do that.
kuroo is awkward and tall and lanky and he is so unsure of what to say to you or what to do to let you know that he would very much like to be considered as more than your best friend.
he drives you home, he brings you food, he takes you out for coffee. there’s an extra scarf in his desk drawer and an extra pair of gloves in his car because he knows you’re too forgetful to remember them.
what else do you want him to do?
you tilt your head and you give him a smile and it makes him stumble on his feet. “well, for you to actually be able to give out dating advice, you’d need experience first, right?”
kuroo knows there’s another word for this — you give him a smile and he stumbles on his feet and he fumbles on his words, and the heat in his ears make him feel like he’s going to lose balance.
he thinks he’ll keep calling it a curse for now.

I love desperate men
𐙚₊˚⊹ idol exboyfriend!yoongi⋆𐙚₊˚⊹
series m.list // taglist
exes / idol au
scenario is: drunk and yearning yoongi
slight angst
//
yoongi stumbles next to you, steps uneven on the sidewalk, his shoulder brushing yours every few feet. the city lights flicker behind you two, making it more than obvious that it’s 3am.
“you live ten minutes away,” you mutter, not looking at him. “you couldn’t walk home alone? you really had to get your ex-girlfriend to come walk you?”
he doesn’t answer. just lets out a breath that fogs in the night air.
you glance sideways.
“come on, yoongi. entertain me a little. you miss me or something?”
“yeah.”
it’s soft.
he says it like it wasn’t meant to be said aloud. but it was. it’s out in the cold air and for some reason, warms your heart. tugs it a bit. makes you a little sad — but also relieves it.
you don’t say anything to him.
instead, you keep walking.
it’s not long before yoongi falls behind again — like he always does when he’s trying to say something but can’t. you don’t wait for him. not really. just slow down enough that the silence starts to ache.
as he trails behind you, all he can think about is how much he wants to take your hand. how much he wants to tell you he shouldn’t have stayed late at the studio all those nights. shouldn’t have let you fall asleep alone. should’ve kissed you longer in the mornings, even when he was tired. should’ve picked up the tulips you liked from that corner shop. he should’ve loved you better.
but yoongi doesn't say any of that.
partly because he has drunk texted those exact words to you last week… and the week before. and the week before that week and so on. what can he say? he’s an honest man.
when you reach his place, you punch in the code without asking. the door clicks open like your body still remembers.
you hold the door open.
“goodnight, yoongi.”
he lingers in the doorway.
“___… i—”
you sigh. exhausted. “i’m tired, yoongi. i can’t keep doing this. you can’t keep—”
“i know.” he’s still slurring, but quieter now. eyes down. “i know… so let’s just… can we stop?”
“…stop?”
his voice is smaller now. “stop not being together.”
you stare at him. he sways slightly, head hung low.
but you don’t reply.
at least, not with words.
instead, you step inside his home. you don’t speak as you help him to the bathroom. just move around him like muscle memory — towel over the rack, warm water turned on, his toothbrush set out beside the sink. he peels off his clothes slowly, dragging fabric over skin like it weighs more than it should.
you don’t look.
you just whisper, “don’t fall asleep in there,” and close the door behind you.
then, yoongi showers.
he lets the steam choke the scent of whiskey off his skin — lets the water pour down his neck until his chest starts to hurt in that familiar way it does when he thinks too long about you.
about all the ways he lost you.
about how it’s his fault. how he should’ve tried harder, and this is just a stupid classic cliche about the guy who didn’t know what he had until he lost it. though cliche, he never knew how much it would hurt. how much missing you would plunge into his heart and leave him aching.
when he steps out, yoongi dries his hair half-heartedly, towel rough against damp strands. he thinks he hears you leave. his heart drops, but he doesn’t feel any resentment. if you want to go, you should go.
he just wishes you’d stay one of these nights.
… but when he pads out of the bathroom, shirt clinging to his still-wet back, he sees you.
you’re curled up on top of his sheets, fast asleep.
you didn’t leave.
his heart stutters at the sight.
something about the slope of your back. your socked foot dangling slightly off the edge of the mattress. your fingers twitching in sleep, like you’re reaching for something even now.
yoongi climbs in gently. like he’s not sure if he’s allowed. he slides under the covers without a sound, his body inching toward yours little by little until his forehead rests against your shoulder blade.
and then — slowly — he wraps his arm around your waist.
he waits.
for rejection — for anything.
but your hand finds his. you guide him closer. and then, in a voice so soft it barely breaks the silence—
“i miss you too.”

Seeing your exams are over and i haven't even started mine yet makes me wanna 💀🔫

for the msby black jackals, it’s very easy to tell when atsumu miya is in a bad mood.
maybe it’s how they’ve all gotten to know each other better or maybe it’s the amount of time they’ve all spent together since the very first day, but by now, they can all tell, just by atsumu’s little quirks and whims, when the setter’s feeling particularly … grumpy.
“did’ja forget how to serve all’a sudden?” the blond barks in the middle of the court, cutting the practice match short as the ball hits the ground loudly.
sakusa bites back at him, eyes squinted, “did you forget how to set?”
atsumu’s been like this all morning.
ever since he entered the gym doors and hinata greeted him their usual morning “hellos”, he’s been nothing but a grumbly, mumbly mess, glaring at everyone who got at least two feet near him.
they figured its just one of those days.
usually, they’re able to work around it, eventually snap him out of his horrible demeanor and bribe him back to his usual tsumu self with a couple of jokes here and there.
but today, nothing is working. he isn’t budging at all. not even meian could get through to him with how loud his sulking is getting.
and it’s bothering everyone on the team.
“so, when are we gonna call reinforcements on this?” sakusa mutters to shoyo, the two of them watching their blond headed friend from afar, observing - not so discreetly - as he sits alone on the bench, somehow still managing to look annoyed at the floor.
they wonder if he’ll yell at that too.
“i don’t wanna get yelled at again.” hinata grimaces, his shoulders dropping wantonly as he recalls the last time he called for reinforcements.
after all, the reinforcements: you, did warn all of them the last time it happened that you would very much rather not be involved in any of this should it ever happen again.
( the last time they called you in because atsumu was apparently being unreasonable, not only did you reprimand atsumu for terrorizing the team, but you reprimanded everyone else as well for even dragging you into it. )
hinata nudges sakusa, “you make the call, omi.”
and sakusa breathes in deeply, “… no.”
the rest of the morning feels horrible for everybody. an obvious damper in the air as no one is feeling energized or static enough to proceed with the rest of the day’s practice.
if it wasn’t so sunny outside, hinata swears, he could hear thunder and lightning flashing so dramatically.
“obviously we’re all not feeling great this morning.” meian starts, addressing everyone on the team as they all huddle around each other. “some more than others.”
atsumu sees the pointed look his team captain gives him. he does his best to look to the side and ignore it.
“but, regionals are coming up, and that means i need everyones heads to be in the game.”
atsumu knows he hasn’t been the best teammate today, but can they really blame him? he wasn’t just picking on them for no reason. the serves really were weak and the timing and the tempos of the plays were just plain subpar.
if he was in a good mood, then fine, sure, maybe, he would have relayed those criticisms better, be gentler and nicer.
but tough shit, because today, he’s not.
today, he is in an awful, horrible, terrible mood, and the team’s below-average play was just making everything worse.
“so, why don’t we all take a break?” meian’s voice cuts him out of his slump, and for the first time all morning, his shoulders pick up a bit in anticipation. “how does thirty minutes sound?”
thirty minutes sounds great – fantastic, even.
but not for him to take a break, no - no way. there’s absolutely no time for that.
because right now, as meian speaks (so awfully slow, atsumu thinks) you are currently 15 minutes away from his gym stadium, tucked away in an opera theatre with one of your classmates, watching a performance you’re assigned to write an essay on.
and usually, he’s cool with things like that, it’s normal for you to go on university trips with your friends. your major takes you all over japan for the amount of assignments it has you accomplishing, after all.
but for some reason, this time he’s not. this time he can’t be cool with it.
this time it gets under his nerves so much that it just about makes him want to explode at a wall.
this time you aren’t with the friends he’s met before. this time you’re with someone new, someone assigned to watch the show with you, and it’ll be someone he’s never met, just the two of you there, in the theatre, in the dark, alone.
he’d yell at a floor if he could.
now, he isn’t a jealous person. he really, really, really isn’t.
and when you both left the house this morning, he’d given you a kiss on the cheek with his usual sly grin, an i love you to start the day, and a promise that he’d pick you up when he can.
but the second you left his sight, it was like it all suddenly hit him.
you. a guy. alone. in a theatre.
you were basically going on a date.
and that puts a very, very awful taste in his mouth.
“alright you rats,” meian sighs as he takes a look at the team he’s talking to, no one seemingly paying attention anymore after the minute he said ‘break’, “be back in thirty. i mean it.”
and that was all the cue atsumu needed to hear. one second he’s breaking from the team huddle, and the next he’s bolting out the door.
“be back in thirty or it’s diving drills for all of you!”
atsumu glances on his wristwatch as he runs, he’s got about thirty minutes on the clock and you’re about fifteen minutes away from him by foot. he didn’t bring his car today and really, just from the practice alone this morning, his heart rate is already up by a dozen.
he can’t afford to slow down now. so, he’ll just have to run faster.
this is fine — better than yelling at the floor, at least.

“so, how about that performance, huh?”
you look up from your watch as your classmate’s voice cuts through your thoughts. he’s standing to your right, awkwardly distanced, but a decent amount of feet away that he’s not so close.
is it bad that you don’t remember his name?
“it was okay.” you give him a polite smile, scratching your cheek in instinct as you make polite conversation.
“i thought it died down a bit during that final part though.”
“i noticed that too,” he gives you a smile back, “it did lose momentum.”
the conversation is very polite, quiet, riddled with pointless small talk to make up for the painful awkwardness wafting in the air.
you’ve got half a thought in the back of your mind to make up some lame excuse to just suddenly leave and go, but you still kinda feel a little bit sorry for the guy for being stuck with you on this project.
(plus there was that whole forgetting-his-name thing that something tells you you should feel guilty about.)
curse you, randomly assigned project partners.
despite having shared classes with mr. nameless over here and seeing him around campus a handful of times, the two of you never really interacted until this morning when you both met up for this theatre watching project.
you’d mentioned it to your husband in passing, and halfheartedly expected him to make a fuss about it, especially when you told him that it’d be another guy you were partnered with, but much to your surprise, he’s taken it pretty coolly ( a feat you weren’t aware he was capable of ).
now though, as the show just ended and the two of you wait in front of the theatre for the next bus to arrive, the air is filled with a thick awkward silence that you hope when the bus does come, it goes in the complete opposite direction of where he’s headed to.
you’d almost feel bad for the guy for having to withstand such awkwardness if it wasn’t for the fact that you hoped he’d just walk away and leave.
“you wouldn’t happen to be free after this, would you?”
the silence comes to an end when he turns to you, hand on the back of his neck, cheeks slightly flushed.
so much for just walking away and leaving.
his voice seems quieter now, less whole, and he’s pretty much looking at every other thing except for you, “i just noticed that it’s around lunch now and well, maybe we could grab some food together and continue discussing the show?”
now, you wish the bus would arrive and just run you down on the spot.
what do you even say? surely, not his name, you can’t even remember it.
if atsumu was here right now, he would absolutely lose his shit, maybe even yell, or cause a scene, but that’d be enough to rescue you from this highschool confession scene about to unravel, but he’s not and he’s busy and far away and–
“hey, did i miss the show or sum’n?”
you blink. was your husband a genie or something? suddenly appearing out of nowhere each time your little heart calls for him?
“tsumu?” you’re more excited than surprised, “what’re you doing here?”
instead of answering you, your very sweaty husband turns to look at the guy you’re with instead. the very guy who’s been tormenting him all morning in that sweaty little head of his.
he is so not impressed.
“miya atsumu,” he says suddenly, almost scoffing, and he wipes the sweat from his forehead as he straightens his posture, and with that same sweaty hand of his, he extends it out for your classmate to shake. “nice to meet ya.”
your classmate gives you a nervous laugh, looking at you more than the odd and suspiciously sweaty man in front of him.
he asks, smile breaking a little bit, “miya?”
“yup.” atsumu replies bluntly, and he’s got that punchable smirk of his on his face again, “miya.”
where was that bus when you needed it?
“nice to meet you too.” your classmate gives him a short reply, that same polite smile he gave you earlier now appearing not-so confident, and he grimaces slightly as he shakes your husband’s hand.
you try not to laugh — it wouldn’t be polite.
the next bus is forgotten though after that gruesome little handshake as your poor, poor classmate suddenly gets a text from - apparently - his mother, asking him to walk back home right this instant.
you tell him you understand and that it’s okay and that you hope he gets home safe.
and you both ignore the fact that his phone has been in his pocket this entire time, and that neither of you saw him get any text at all.
really, you owe him for putting him through such awkwardness, but when you remember his name, you’ll remember to return the favor.
once he leaves — rather hurriedly — it’s just the two of you now, you and your very sweaty husband.
“hey, what’re you doing here?” you ask him for real thus time, less surprised now and more pleased to see him so suddenly, “did you finish already?”
atsumu finally gives his attention on you, and just like magic (genie magic?) his sly and obnoxious demeanor changes into something so much more familiar.
he deflates a little bit, now that it’s just you around, and you’re grateful that the cool japan air has dried down most of his sweat before he envelops you in a hug.
“nope.” atsumu shakes his head, melting away in your embrace, “meian gave us a thirty minute break, i thought i’d swing by.”
you push him off, and you tilt your head at him, brow raising, “but it’s more than a mile away?”
“yeah.” he gives you a nervous laugh and his ears pink up just a little bit, “yer telling me.”
so, maybe, he didn’t take it as coolly as you had initially thought. maybe you did marry a very jealous man who would run over a mile to come see you.
but that’s okay too, because your cheeks hurt from smiling so much at that fact.
“does this have anything to do with the text sakusa sent me earlier?” you give him a knowing look, smile teasing.
“depends.” atsumu squints his eyes. “whadd’he say?”
“something along the lines of “help. come. right now.”, does that make any sense at all to you?” you raise a brow, and you cross your arms over your chest as you ask.
“nope. not at all.”
“oh, you are evil when you’re jealous.”
“i am so not jealous.”
“you so are.”
it’s easy to tease him when he’s like this. all flustered and pink in the ears, and the toothy smile on his face makes you forget that he could ever be seen as anything remotely close to scary or intimidating.
you give him a soft kiss on the cheek. “thanks for coming to see me.”
“i did it all for my sake.” he tells you, scratching the back of his neck, “sorry.”
“reminds me, shouldn’t you be getting back by now?”
atsumu takes a quick look at his watch, it’s almost that thirty minute mark meian gave him for his break, and he knows, all too well, that he’ll get another earful of it when he gets back.
you see him look worried for a moment.
not to say that he wouldn’t deserve it. he knows now — now that he isn’t blinded with all consuming jealousy — that fine, maybe, maybe, he might’ve been an asshole today.
but he’s back to himself now, and he really didn’t want to do any of those diving drills.
“come on, let’s go back now, i’ll come with you.” you take his hand in yours as you tug him to make a progressive step.
he perks up a little bit, “you will?”
“well, you need all the help you can get sweet talking everyone back into believing you haven’t been a jackass to them all morning.”

Man I just wanna be taken care of
husband!kageyama taking care of your nails for you.
“You know, when you told me you were going to clip my nails, I didn’t think you meant it seriously.”
Kageyama gave a small grunt, not looking up. “I always mean it seriously.”
“That’s what worries me a little.”
He blinked, pausing to glance at you. “Why?”
“Because you have your ‘actual game face’ on. Like you’re about to hit the ball through someone’s soul—my poor finger’s soul.”
His brow furrowed. “This is delicate work,” he said, as if it were obvious. “I have to focus. And I’m careful.”
You laughed, watching him lift your hand like it was a precious object. He took a long moment to examine your fingers—turning them slightly, his thumb brushing along your knuckles in slow circles. It’s gentle and careful, and it warms your heart to see your husband so loving like this.
“You have a hangnail here,” he muttered, frowning. “Were you picking at it again?”
“I got nervous during that meeting yesterday.”
He clicked his tongue quietly. “Stop doing that. You’ll hurt yourself.”
“I didn’t know I’d be getting a full checkup afterward!”
“You don’t need to be nervous. You’re… good at what you do.” His voice dropped a little as he said it, like it embarrassed him to offer praise so directly. “I’ve heard you on the phone. You’re smart. And brave.”
You blinked at him, caught off guard. Your smile softened. “That’s the sweetest thing you’ve said all week.”
“I said you looked pretty yesterday.”
“You said I ‘looked rested.’”
“…Oh. Well, you look even prettier today.”
You laughed, and it made his ears turn pink.
He clipped your nails gently, his hands steady, fingers long and precise. He held each of yours securely, guiding you through the process like a practiced routine. It wasn’t rushed; Kageyama took his time, carefully aligning the clipper, checking the angle twice before making a cut. After each nail, he paused to brush the trimmed bits into a little ceramic bowl they kept nearby.
“Do you do this often?” You asked after a long pause. “For yourself, I mean?”
He nodded once. “Every few days. I have to. My fingers are everything. If I don’t keep my nails short and clean, they can catch on the ball or split. It’s stupid how much one little crack can mess with your whole game.”
You gave him a look, eyes wide with something like quiet awe. “You take this so seriously.”
“It’s part of taking care of myself,” he said, and his gaze lifted to yours. “And now it’s part of taking care of you too.”
Your breath caught for just a moment. How did you ever get so lucky to snag this man?
Kageyama picked up the small file next and began to smooth the edges with slow, even strokes. The motion was rhythmic and tender. You watched the way he focused so intently on the task—the slight pinch in his brow, the way his lower lip pressed into a thin line when he was trying to be especially careful.
“You always do this when you’re nervous,” you said softly, brushing your free hand against his hair.
“Do what?”
“Zone in. Like the world disappears except the thing you’re trying to control.”
Kageyama was quiet for a moment, then exhaled. “That’s… true.”
“Are you nervous right now?”
He hesitated. “Not nervous. Just… I want to get it right.”
“Because it’s me?”
He gave the tiniest nod, eyes still trained on your thumbnail. “You’re important. I don’t want to mess anything up.”
You leaned in, resting your forehead against his for a beat. “You won’t.”
The silence between you grew comfortable. The kind of quiet that speaks in glances and gentle touches. After he filed the last nail, he gently ran his thumb across each fingertip, checking for snags, tiny splinters, anything he might have missed. Then he reached for the cuticle oil and unscrewed the little bottle with a slow, almost reverent motion.
“I’m going to massage this in,” he said, almost shyly—yet still determined.
You nodded, watching him carefully as he dabbed a small dot of oil on each nail, then rubbed it in with soft, circular motions. His touch was warm, so warm, like the atmosphere during mornings in a bakery. The way he held your hand wasn’t just careful—it was reverent. As if your hands were something sacred. Something worth protecting.
“I like your hands,” he said suddenly.
You scrunched your nose, barely. “Really?”
“They’re soft. And warm. And… I know them.” His voice dropped lower, murmuring. “I know the way you hold my wrist when I’m anxious. The way you press your palm to my back when I come home late. How you run your fingers through my hair when I can’t sleep.”
You swallowed. Your chest ached in that lovely, terrible way when someone says exactly what you needed to hear without knowing it.
“I want to take care of them,” he added, brushing his thumb along the side of your pinky. “Because they take care of me.”
“Tobio…”
He looked up then, eyes a little wide like he was afraid he’d gone too far. But you leaned forward before he could pull back and kissed him softly. When you pulled away, your voice was barely a whisper. “You are the gentlest man I’ve ever known.”
He shook his head, a breath of laughter escaping. “I’m not.”
“You are. Maybe not with words. Or… you know, strangers. But with me? You’re gentle in all the ways that matter.”
You sat like that for a long moment—hands still entwined, foreheads nearly touching, the world outside fading into white noise. Then Kageyama cleared his throat. “I could… maybe paint them next time? If you want?”
Your eyes lit up. “You’d paint my nails?”
He gave an awkward little shrug. “If you like it. I’d have to practice.”
You hummed, pulling him forward into another kiss, lingering and full of affection. “You’re already perfect.”
Kageyama flushed from the base of his neck to the tips of his ears once again. He’s so easily flustered—it’s almost illegal to be this cute, you think.

Ok well i feel lonely now
everything is romantic | t. kuroo

pairing: testurō kuroo x gn!reader
synopsis: kuroo being down bad and falling in love with you anytime he could. based on everything is romantic by charli xcx.
warnings/genre: modern au, timeskip!kuroo, established relationship, fluff, suggestiveness, cursing
a/n: just something cute and short because i #needhimsobad #yearner #onekissplease
in a place that can make you change
freshman year of college.
he is leisurely walking the campus with some of his friends before his night class. the quad is alive, voices and steps bouncing off the brick walls. loud, but weirdly comforting.
that is probably why he was not paying attention when walking into the student center, slamming right into you.
you.
and the first time in kuroo’s life. okay maybe the third time if you count some mishaps in high school and that one time kenma thanked him, he was shocked. like movie scene shocked; his eyes wide, mouth slacked open, and his palms becoming all sweaty.
the most unnatural feeling storming with another feeling that he at times believed he was too logical to feel. love.
he wants to laugh at the absurdity of it but instead he keeps his wide eyes on you. frozen. he wants to stay still, right here.
with you gawking back at him.
“i’m so sorry,” you squeak.
he feels like he’s about pass out. and he kind of hates how corny this all is but with you at the end of it, he wants it all. he wants more.
he wants to study your eye color. he wants to know if you’re going to laugh at his bed hair. he wants to know if you like the beach as much as he does. and he hopes you hate grilled salted mackerel fish so that you could always give him yours.
“it’s okay,” he says back and he’s trying to train his eyes to hear his own voice. making sure it doesn’t sound as weak as his knees are. “are you okay?”
he’s trying to look you over. but he can’t stop looking at your eyes. the books that were in your arms are scattered at his feet.
the student center feels like it’s home. right here. just you two, staring at each other.
“i’m okay,” you say as you smile at him and your nose crinkles. he for sure thinks that he is going fucking crazy. “are you?”
he wants to tell you that he feels like he’s a changed man. as soon as he bumped into you. the electric field of the student center changing him and he wants to be so entangled with you that he continues to change.
but instead, he breathes in a shaken breath and he smiles back at you.
“i’m great actually.”
early nights in white sheets with lace curtains
four years later.
your hair still smells like the sea - salty and wet. despite being a mile away (you’re just on the other side of the bed). he swears he could smell it. as if your smell is imprinted in his nostrils.
the sun, still in the sky but the colors dwindling with the dusk sky pushing in, is trailing into the room at a snail’s pace. the hues of pink and orange dancing along your bare back.
the colors still no match to your beauty. just an added arrangement to your everlasting color, the kind of color that’s burned behind his eyelids — always there, even when he blinks, he sees them. he sees you.
and there you sit, on the edge of the bed. your back to him, the white hotel sheet wrapped lazily around your body.
“i don’t think i have ever seen anything as beautiful as you,” he whispers into the room. and he knows you’re going to roll your eyes. he kind of wants to roll his too because of how normal corny things sound slipping off his tongue when it comes to you.
but you laugh most of the time, so he’s never going to try to stop.
you look over your shoulder, a light blush dusting your cheeks. another color added to your ever growing rainbow. he feels his cheeks tint too. a little competition on who could make the other blush.
“we left a cliffside overlooking the bluest water we ever saw,” you playfully roll your eyes at him. “you’ve saw more beautiful things.”
“i don’t think we should argue over what my eyes deem the most beautiful,” he says back and along with the eyeroll (he loves being at the receiving end of) you send him a smile. small and sweet.
“fine, no arguing,” you shrug, turning your head back to the window. he hears the laugh that wants to escape your mouth.
and he doesn’t need to actually hear it to feel it. he has the vibrations of your laugh etched on him like a spotify barcode.
with a light breeze coming in through the lacy curtains, your hair sways a bit and the salt water smell drifts to him and he smiles because he knew. he knows everything when it comes to you.
“come here,” he whispers and he feels the shiver that rips through your body.
you turn to him, your eyes racking over his body like you’re trying to etch him into your brain the way you’re in his.
you crawl over, the white sheet still entangled on your body and he almost feels jealous.
you’re inches away and because he’s selfish and he wants to be the one entangled with you, he grabs you. his hands find their home on your waist as he shuffles you up.
you’re straddling him and and he feels grateful for the new position. he could see the dusk wash over you, playing with the colors of your eyes and the tint on your cheeks and ears.
“we have dinner reservations,” you shyly whisper and he chuckles a bit because after four years, you still get flustered under his stare.
“i know. i made them dummy,” he whispers back. you laugh and he feels his heart swell and he wonders if you feel it too. “i just want to be close to you.”
he runs his hands up your sides, trying to stay near your ribs to feel the flutter of your heartbeat.
“you’re so corny sometimes,” you lean down as you say this. your nose brushing his and he almost wants to push you back so that he could see your smile as you said this.
“my special talent when it comes to you,” your lips are brushing his so softly, like a feather brushing the tip of a nose.
your laugh is muffled as his lips finally meet yours. a soft battle.
and with your moans on the tip of his tongue, he realizes, for possibly the thousandth time since he’s met you; he’s in love with you.
fall in love again and again
he’s standing at the alter. his palms aren’t sweaty like people said they would be. he’s not crying — yet. but if you do that nose scrunch smile when the doors open, he’s finished and bokuto is most definitely going to laugh at him.
for the most part though, he feels calm. he feels ready.
that’s a lie. a little one.
he feels impatient, because all he wants is for you to walk down already. for you to walk right through the doors, a smile of your face. that smile that you only ever send to him. the one that meets every facet of your face. your eyes gleam, your cheeks tint, and your nose crinkles up a bit. maybe even a giggle when you look at him.
because he for sure didn’t do his hair and he knows that makes you laugh. even after six years.
but before that, he thinks he should wait. and despite his bouncing leg because he just wants to see you already. he wants his hand in yours and he wants to hear that weary sigh you let out whenever too many people are looking at you. he wants to appreciate that he is so lucky to be here right now. appreciate the fact that you’ll forever be his and he’ll forever be enchanted by your smile. (legally that is. he doesn’t need a piece of paper for your smile to grace his life with every ounce of love he may ever need).
he wants to pause and just think about every instance where he fell in love with you. every single moment as a collective swiping through his mind like those powerpoints he makes for work. a simple slideshow showcasing the smiles, the laughs, or just the moments where you’re standing away from him; your back to him but even then he knows it’s because you’re waiting to lead him somewhere.
he thinks back to the moments he catches you reading. you finding beauty in the words on the book your nose is buried in and him finding beauty right there on the couch. you read pages and he reads you.
or when you first told you loved him. it was three months after he realized he was in with love you. the night was young and the breeze was cool but he felt warm. you didn’t have to touch him. just the three words and the smile that you lead with the statement and he knew that he’ll fall for it everyday of his life. you could’ve waited sixteen years to tell him and he would’ve waited happily. his heart in your hands and your smile etched on his eyelids.
or after your first argument. it was over something so stupid and small but when he saw that one little teardrop from your right eye (if he had a ruler he would’ve measured how far it dripped before your hoodied covered hand swiped it away). he swallowed his pride and apologized. so quickly because he fell in love with you again.
he thinks of other moments: him having to explain volleyball to you (and you still not fully understanding), you always giving him your grilled salted mackerel (even though you secretly love it), you laughing at his bed head every morning and how you watch him at the doorway of the bathroom, trying to fix it before work.
or now, you finally walking to him.
greeting him with that smile and the nose scrunch. he feels his eyes getting watery. he ignores bokuto’s snicker.
eyes on you, he knows that he’ll fall in love with you again. as he did all these years. waking up everyday and falling in love with you again.

Hi there 🌼
I hope it’s okay that I’m reaching out. My name is Rola, and I’m a mother of two from Gaza. Life used to be simple—filled with laughter, home-cooked meals, walks with my children, and ice cream on weekends. But since October, everything has changed.
We lost our home in a bombing. One moment, we were sipping coffee on the balcony… the next, the house shook, windows shattered, and our world collapsed. We had to flee with nothing—no clothes, no toys, no sense of safety.
My children still ask about their beds, their books, their quiet little room. I don’t have answers. All I can do is hold them and keep going.
We’re now raising funds to evacuate—or, if returning becomes possible, to rebuild. I just want to give my children a future that isn’t defined by fear and loss.
If you’re able to help—by donating or even just sharing our story—it would mean everything 💛. Your kindness can bring us one step closer to healing.
Thank you for listening. And if you'd prefer not to receive messages like this, just let me know and I won’t reach out again.
With love and hope,
Rola | @rolafamily 🤍
