I feel like if Arthur came back and once things had finally settled, he would have been a complete adrenaline junkie. Like that man went from was fighting for his life every other weekday to all the comforts of 21st century life. Sure, he would still love to laze around, but he would get so restless after a while and end up dragging Merlin to go bungee jumping or some shit and end up giving him an actual heart attack every time.

Uther Pendragon’s A+ parenting

one thing i adore about fandom is the “[bad parent]’s A+ parenting” tag on ao3. it’s so universal and so sarcastic and it makes me giggle every time i see it

it’s a head cannon of mine that Merlin would develop grey hairs over the course of his time saving Arthur’s ass every other weekday. That boy literally had the weight of the word on his shoulders with barely anyone to help him shoulder that burden. My boy was getting some greys. BUT. Imagine Arthur notices this one day, perhaps the light catches it just right. That man would absolutely go to pieces. He would try to stay calm on the outside and just be like “what the hell is that, Merlin?”, but internally he is doing backflips trying to piece together what is making Merlin grow greys. Ultimately Merlin just blows it off as genetics, but Arthur doesn’t buy it for a second and slowly starts weening away Merlin’s more impractical chores (he may be an idiot sometimes, but he’s not that oblivious).

I’m sure it’s been said before but there’s just something so unmistakably human about Dead Poets Society. The movie itself is stunning and does a wonderful job of bringing everything to life from the acting, to the messages, to the cinematography. You can tell that so much work went into making every little detail mean something. I’ve found what I love about the movie most though is that I can see myself in every character whether I’m proud of that or not. I find especially my fear manifests similar to Camerons’s. It’s dysfunctional and makes me lash out in defense. My happiness similar to Neil’s, is so intense I bleed with it. The writers made sure that each character not only served their part in the script, but truly brought to life what it means to be alive. Being a teenager isn’t easy, being human isn’t easy, and that is reflected in the personalities and actions of every character. That movie showed that we are all human no matter how free and ambitious we are or trapped and scared we are. We all have the chance to seize the day, to seize our own ambitions whether we’re fearless and outspoken or shy and terrified. Our moment in the sun will come and we’ll be able to face it just fine.

You cannot convince me that Merlin and Arthur didn’t cuddle on trips through the forest. Like come on, Arthur literally sleeps holding his pillows and you cannot convince me Merlin doesn’t run cold in his sleep. There’s no way they didn’t cuddle, even if they didn’t mean too, they definitely woke up curled around each other. They never spoke about it, but it just got to the point where they’d place their cots right next to each other because they knew they’d end up snuggling at some point through the night.

I’m laughing and smiling because it’s the Christmas season and then I remember Neil Perry, Arthur Pendragon, and my favorite dog all died in the same month and suddenly nothing is funny anymore.

Some DPS Christmas Head Cannons

Todd would take his job of decorating very seriously. You can bet every year the Perry-Anderson household would be lit up like the Biltmore.

Neil in all his theatrics would just blast his favorite Christmas records and annoy the heck out of Todd by scream-singing out of tune Santa Baby in his ear.

Charlie would find the most diabolical ugly Christmas sweaters and start wearing them in October like a psycho

Cameron would try and pretend like Christmas isn’t a big deal for him, but in reality it’s his favorite holiday (he would even organize the Secret Santa)

Pitts would crochet cute little Santa hats for each of the poets with their initials on them and every year he’d do a different color

Meeks would wire the radio in their dorms so when they all get together to have a little Christmas celebration, there would be some music (there is no doubt in my mind his favorite song is Run Rudolf Run)

Knox would have a surprisingly good voice but only use it to sing White Christmas all the time

When their families would be having Christmas parties, they’d sneak into their dad’s offices to call each other and talk about the latest family drama

honestly there are so many things BBC Merlin could have changed or handled better to make the show that much greater, but the thing I wished they would have done the most was just let Merlin completely break down in front of Arthur. Like Arthur bugging him on a rough day and he just finally snaps bc he can’t take it anymore. He would start out so fired up and angry and Arthur just wouldn’t even know what to do. Eventually his anger would morph into complete despair as he crumples to the floor, yearning for Arthur to just see him and listen. In that moment I feel we would get something truly raw, not just a serious moment quickly interrupted by a joke bc it can’t get that deep. Arthur would just sit down next to Merlin, not quite sure of what to do and Merlin would just fall into him crying and Arthur would just hold him as he sobs bc he’s human and he does have a breaking point and it would be so beautiful.

just finished The Outsiders, and after reading that, watching Dead Poets Society, and finishing Merlin I just want to be a part of a band of brothers. I want to fight for something I believe in so bad and fight for my friends because we all know we only have each other. Running the streets, forming a cult, going on dangerous quests. I don’t care, I just want to feel alive and invincible.
