why do i even ship rivetra?

FACTS (100% CANON)

• Levi knows that he had a deep feeling of respect or POSSIBLY fondness as well as a sense of defense over Petra in many scenes in manga and the anime. Such as commanding her to warn the left flank and to help the wounded. He always positioned her away from danger despite of her having a higher kill stat than him. (evidence provided in the official guidebook) He even got so angry at Hange when she endangered his squad. It's not like he doesn't trust his squad's skills, right? He never got that worried. (except if there's one particular person he wants to protect)

• Eld was the second in command, but why was Petra the one positioned next to Levi in every formation? She was the one who always delivers the reports. Could it be because she has 58 titan kills which puts her above her comrades in skill and efficiency? Definitely not since she’s kept away from conflict when Levi’s around. She acts like his secretary, something like that.

• Petra can see through Levi's flaws and imperfections. As a soldier, she should’ve say things about how great he was, or how hard he trained the special operation squad, or why he called Humanity’s strongest. But no, instead she saw him as a man, a totally flawed man, but she loves nonetheless. Only Petra did, and she still admired him deeply and decided to devote herself to him despite of his dark past. If you can remember her conversation with Eren way back then when they're cleaning, she talked about Levi's dark past and imperfections. Then Levi suddenly interferes when she was about to tell Eren how Erwin brought him to the Survey Corps. Was he eavesdropping to the entire conversation? And went out when Petra was about to tell something that might be embarrassing for him? Well, it MAY HAVE HAPPENED.

• Petra always puts Levi's safety FIRST. This was proven when Eren accidentally transformed. The other squad members are much closer to him, and the ones who possibly got hurt. But she decided to check on Levi's well being first. She even asked him to stay away from Eren. Here, we can also see Levi's deep concern towards her. He told her that she was the one who needs to step away, for it is dangerous. Also, if you can remember the scene when she was ordered to help the wounded (probably to keep her away from danger) she tried to protest, being extremely worried that Levi went off ALONE.

• Levi found the squad's dead bodies with agony written all over his face, yet he just passed through them. Seems like he's specifically looking for Petra's body, yeah?

Maybe he was hoping that she was still alive. After finding her corpse, his expression became DARKER than it already is. In the official wiki, he was described to be "protecting Petra's body". Why would he linger beside her body more than anyone else? (if they were truly equal in his heart, and Petra wasn't special at all) He also believed that a dead body is just that, a DEAD BODY. Nothing more. But despite of his belief, why did he guarded Petra's body? (he rarely do this)

• Levi takes her patch off to keep it for himself but ends up giving it to a soldier for comfort. It is Petra's, since a bite mark can be seen from the hand. (result from when they apologized to eren) Why would Levi take ONLY her badge when he can take all of his squad's? (again, if Petra wasn't special at all) Also, the piano instrumental of "Call Your Name" played as he kneeled down to pick up her badge. The song chorus played, to the part it says "Where is my lover?" Coincidence?

• Levi turned around to watch her body as it fell from the cart with the same eyes filled with regrets and despair (Isayama approved/added this scene so this is CANON) Isayama green lights every scene in the show and is notorious for adding scenes he wished he could've in the manga. But why? Why would that scene be necessary enough to put in if it wasn't even in the manga?

• Petra’s father revealed his daughter’s letter about how excited she was to be hand picked by Levi and how she plans to devote herself to him. When her father mentions marriage, we can clearly see Levi's expression: a face full of regrets. Why would a father randomly talk about marriage to a captain if it ain't related to him? Reminder, Petra WAS NOT ENGAGED to anyone. Her father just translated her feelings, that she may had the desire to be married to him. And that broke Levi even more.

• On the manga, (forgot what chap) Zeke thinks Levi can’t understand people and isn’t popular with women, but Levi replies stating there was a time when he was popular and seemly looked upset after saying it. The first Levi fangirl that crossed to our minds? PETRA RAL. The one who greatly admired him despite of him being having a lot of imperfections.

• In Levi's separate card for Petra's birthday art, he says that Petra picked out the suit for him and found it helpful that she did, confirming the CANON that Petra on occasion picks out his clothes when he's out of uniform. Pretty close for being a Captain and Subordinate, no? (if eld was his second-in-command, he was supposed to be his right hand as well. but petra made it look like that she was his right hand)

• Out of all the famous ships, Rivetra was chosen for the SNK's Hangeki no Tsubasa’s 2015 Valentine’s Day event. On here, we can see Levi holding the chocolate Petra gave, with Petra slightly blushing. Valentine's Day featuring those two? Hmm..👀

• On chapter 112, we can see Levi's dead comrades. Erwin was his host right? (like the one he love/cared the most) But why would Petra be on the middle, looking directly at him? (the rest are looking on a different direction) Plus, if Petra wasn't special at all, why was she separated from the rest of the squad? Her drawing was also the most detailed after all. Simple. She was on the middle, because SHE'S SUPPOSED TO BE THERE.

• The Light of Dual Wings was sang by Petra's voice actress. This is official, and the lyrics are definitely meant for Levi. [THIS IS MY THEORY. I personally think they had feelings or affection towards each other (hints from both manga and anime are enough evidences) BUT on Levi's side, he just realized it after her death. He doesn't have time for those things, so he was fully unaware that he was slowly getting fond of her.]
