Had a kiln christmas and well... I'm mostly happy.

The"Skill Issue" plate is definitely my favorite. No notes.

The "Go girl give us nothing" tall vase has some glaze variation that I wish wasn't there... but it's close enough that I'm not too mad about it.

As for the two tombstone vases... hmm. I'm not loving how the backs turned out. The fronts and sides are mostly ok. I need to decide how much the backs bother me, and if they're worth reglazing and refiring. I'm trying to spin a narrative of "they're dug up from the earth, supposed to look gnarly" to myself, not sure I'm buying it yet.

Painting glaze is a dicey gamble but the thin bits don't bother me too much

He's finished! Look at his stupid arm waving. I love him.

He's out of the kiln! The kiln gods were kind! Got some cracks but nothing structural.

If I were to change anything I might have underglazed the talons (they got a very light yellow iron oxide wash), punched up the green on the belly (very light copper carbonate wash), and done... something to accentuate his texture on the parts that only got clear glaze.

Still, I'm pretty happy with how he turned out.

If everything goes well, this dude will be a Trex version of a maneki neko.

The shaft to move the arm is too long right now but that's the dev team's problem.

More 2019 posting. This one is so good but I have yet to figure out how to photograph it well. I love the fake terra cotta stain I worked into this clay body. Hopefully the tiger comes out about this shade.
