Murderhelion means so much to me actually. They have a relationship and it's definitely queer but it's not the human definition of romantic or sexual. They are both aroace. They share intimacy through the feed and it feels so natural its basically subconscious. The first thing Perihelion does upon meeting Murderbot is expose its entire code to it, just for an unfathomably tiny amount of time. Murderbot meets Peri and trusts it enough to modify its entire body relatively soon after. Peri sees MB having an Awful time and puts on a show for it without even asking. MB gets captured and Perihelion Immediately trains all of its missiles on the colony it was captured by without hesitation and it takes an entire TEAM of people to talk it down from blowing everything up. Peri will casually jump into MB's mind. It got captured and tortured and its memory gets fucked with and it was shut down and it used every single inch of processing power it had to find Murderbot because it knew it could save it. The two of them have no human label for their relationship but they trust each other so easily that they can become essentially one being when they have to. whatever they have going on is FANTASTIC

So I convinced my Mum to read MB. She is already on Exit Strategy, but... she never once freaked out at me about anything? Never once desperately needed to discuss things?? Never once came to share a theory???
I don't understand. How is she perfectly calm reading these books???

I enjoy how Murderbot thinks it’s a murder bot but it’s actually Team Mom it just has guns in its arms

I maintain that AdaCol2 is one of my favourite characters. Does a thing I, as a non-IT person, envision as a super high tech wifi router count as a character?
Anyway. AdaCol2 for the win.

I think I might be cautiously optimistic about the show? This was an unexpected realisation. I hate when interpretations of my fave books appear, because like, they always fuck up. Look at The Mortal Instruments, Shadowhunters is an absolute disgrace. But Alexander sounds like he gets it? Like he's going to do his best to be as much Murderbot as he possibly can?
Honestly at this point I'm more worried about the humans. The books are from MB's POV, and we've established it's not exactly the most reliable narrator, but in a show, they can't really just disregard half the story, because MB doesn't care about boring stuff.

I have a wacky idea for an entry in The Murderbot Diaries. It's basically the plot of a heist movie. (No really, I swear it would be good. Please keep reading!) It goes like this:
Murderbot keeps having emergency shutdowns. ART's Medsys finally figures out the problem - a critical piece of hardware is failing. Unfortunately, it is proprietary tech.
"Even if we had it," Murderbot despairs, "we would need a company cubicle to install it."
"Then we go to the Corporation Rim and the company headquarters to steal one," says ART.
And so the caper ensues with all the heist movie tropes:
A scheme is hatched using all the skills of Perihelion's crew (now including Amena)
There are disguises (someone has to put on SecUnit armour)
A last minute change screws up the plan (Murderbot shuts down again)
They get help from an unlikely source (a company SecUnit)
Someone is caught but no one gets left behind
There's even a car chase (ART has to outrun a company gunship)
Everything works out and Murderbot is saved
But what makes the story interesting (and not just silly) is that because Murderbot keeps passing out it doesn't know everything that's happening. So ART has to write large portions of the diary. Because it's ART, it writes in the third person (so it can refer to itself that way).
I really just want a reason for ART to write one of The Murderbot Diaries...

OP has a point. I still don't like it, it still feels very half assed on the producers' part (heh at least that is on theme), but it does make sense.
Am I the only one who likes the casting of Murderbot? I feel like *generic attractive white man* is what would come out if a corporation made synthetic people. They said the ONLY difference between them and a sexbot is literally having genitals, so I figured corporations wouldn’t bother making new faces/bodies. It is disappointing it’s not a POC but I don’t think it’s THAT bad a choice. He honestly can be pretty funny, and the rest of the cast seem to be as described. I feel like we should at least wait til a trailer to be so judgmental.

Do I wish I could have attended F1's car reveal extravaganza circus show live? Not at all.
But did I have fun watching it from home? Also not really.
Did I find Jack's commentary and overall performance incredibly cringy? Yes. Very. Please don't let him do it again.
Also Domenicali actually thanking Ecclestone? Not something I ever wanted.
3/10 let's not do it again next year.

Drumroll please, behold the results.
I'm not surprised Tarik won, ehm lost, but... who voted for Ratthi. Come here, I just want to talk.
Also, I must say I, too, did not like Gurathin at first, but now he's one of my faves.
Hi. So, it occurred to me that it's been a while since the previous round of Very Important Research.
Last time, Thiago won... or, lost, I guess, by an overwhelming margin, so this time I decided to not include him.
Therefore, please behold for round #2,
Again, if it's someone else, or if you want to elaborate or whatever, feel free to do so in the comments. In the interest of Very Important Research of course.

I do like that the science in MBD is sort of hand wavey, because MB Couldn't Care Less, but I want to know things!
Like, exactly WHOSE brain is being cloned for constructs' neural tissue? Or is each construct's brain a combination of several cloned brains? Do the constructs get their personality trait from the, umm, brain owners? We do know MB and Three are very different after all.
Does Gurathin have a mini-him construct running around??

I do appreciate that the science fiction in Murderbot is particularly handwavy because SecUnit doesn't pay attention.
