So my rice cooker has a porridge setting which does a good job with oatmeal, and additionally has an inbuilt clock and timer setting.
I'd like to set it up so that it's finished cooking the oatmeal right when I wake up, but I'm afraid if I use milk it'll go bad if left out at room temperature over night. Does anyone know if it'll be fine?
(overnight oats haven't worked out)

I tap the mic. “Most people don’t want to crawl down your chimney and steal your dog.”
the crowd murmurs uncertainly.
“If someone wants to steal your dog,” I continue, “there are easier ways to do that. They don’t have to crawl into a chimney.”
Murmuring intensifies. People stand in their seats and begin to boo.
“People disguising themselves as chimney sweepers and stealing dogs is not a rational fear,” I shout. “Literally anyone could steal your dog. Why make sweeping chimneys illegal?”
“I have a list of chimney sweeps who stole dogs from parks!” Someone yells, throwing a shoe.
“You seriously think no chimney sweepers could possibly ever steal from a home?” Another cries.
“Only a dog thief would even want to crawl into a chimney to begin with!” Says a third.
A single tear rolls down my cheek. They are all so fucking stupid
This is a metaphor

Adding in a step to the end of the security process where everyone must do a complicated card trick—simple to redo with cuts, incredibly hard to do if it's at the end of a oner
My casino has new top-of-the-line technology to stop heists: a montage detector. If those bastards want to break in and steal my money, they’re doing it as part of one, long take

Many reasons why I'm not on-board with the whole misandry thing that seems to be getting popular among the types of trans women who get big around here, beyond just the fact that I think making assumptions based on gender is bad on principle or the fact that it gives off a bitter sort of energy in a lot of posts.
It's also that in my view there is not really much of a meaningful difference between men and women, especially at the individual level human relationships operate at. Whatever combination of traits you associate with women also exists in some men, and vice versa. The same actions don't become different based on the gender of the person doing them either. A lot of this stuff just strikes me as profoundly sexist, and not even strictly in an anti-men way but also in the sense that it once again reinforces the predator/prey binary of traditional sexism, as radfems always do.
It also highlights and centers gender in a way I find extremely off-putting. I don't want to get any kind of special treatment just for being a woman. I don't want people to assume I am "safer" or more morally upstanding based on gender. I truly don't see myself as being on a different level from cis men (or cis women!) in any way, at least not more so than I do from humans more generally.
I profoundly dislike it when gender is treated like a definitive quality of my life that should color everything I am and everything I do, even if this is done "benevolently".

i propose that smut fiction where they do negotiated bdsm with lots of check ins and aftercare and improbable safe words etc. constitutes/caters to its own kink, where the elements o performance/mutual trust/servicing are the core appeal, more so than a moral chore on the author’s part. it’s folly to assume it’s all just bluey adults who can’t handle ‘real’ sadomasochistic fantasies played straight. i believe that it’s a different thing entirely. but it’s all still pretty funny with characters who shouldn’t know what traffic lights are

Towers are not counterplay for Slark in particular; he can very much pop ult, jump under tower, kill you, and walk away while your tower can't target him because it can't target him. If it was merely regular invisibility which was seen by truesight it wouldn't be such a pain!
Many multiplayer games have invisibility, a way to hide from your opponents. And of course, as part of the complex back-and-forth of game play, there will be counters to this: wards which reveal the unseen, dust that clings to the skin of the invisible, flames whose burning in the empty air shows where your enemies are. Play and counterplay, a delicate dance of fun.
There is something in the mind of every MOBA designer, like some strange act of God or a really lame SCP, that makes them think "What if there was, like, a super-invisibility that beat regular invisibility, to show how cool this character is?".
Now, sin comes to the hearts of all men, and thus should all men be forgiven, but I think if you fall to this sin you should be beaten to death. I don't give a shit what the win/loss percentages are, there is nothing more miserable than getting killed by a guy who zero ways to fight back against.

So the main differences is that those abilities don't also give 3 hearts worth of regen, frankly have a lot of easier ways to deal with them, and mostly importantly can easily leave the caster of position when it's over. omnislash is notable for being one of the few sources of invulnerability/hidden that also does a ton of damage. It also has a 120 cooldown vs Shadow Dance having a 50/40/30 second cooldown and full control of his damage output. It just comes up so many more times.
the moment you give towers truesight you necessitate the existence of a character who is immune to truesight
Very much not following your logic here and in fact find it extremely odd; There is in fact very good reasons to not do this because it opens the door to an endless regress of magic weapons that can damage monsters that are resistant to magic weapons that can damage monsters who are...
(OK Yes there is Smoke of Deceit, which does keep you invisible from truesight including, importantly, Zeus/Sniper Ults; which is why they are hard coded to dispel if you're anywhere near enemies or towers and so can't be used in a fight)
What actual problem is there with towers truesight that requires double-invisibility? The point is that tower truesight gives a good place to huddle if you think invisible enemies might be nearby; the cost of which is not being able to farm unless the wave is right there.

Of all things that are irritating about misrepresenting your opponent's political positions, "The Democrats keep trying for open borders" is the most anger inducing.
You assholes have been getting your way for decades and you can't even admit it!
Do Trump and Musk understand how hypocritical and, frankly, racist they sound being so moved by the plight of white South Africans while gleefully telling pretty much every other asylum seeker in our country to get the fuck out?

Whenever I see the phrase 'read Marx' I think of what's probably the most belabored, groan-inducing pun in a joke I've ever heard: so there's this nudist colony for communists, and two of them are sitting on the porch. One says to the other, "I say, comrade, have you read Marx?" The second says "Yes, must be these wicker chairs."

These are also nominal prices, if I'm reading them correctly, so the resultant real price change is closer to 50% over 25 years/1.6% YoY inflation
one thing these solar companies all try to do is go "look how much you'll save on your electric bill by going to solar-- if prices increase 4% YOY, and they might!!! in 25 years you'll be paying a buck fifty per kWH!!! look how high your electric bill will be!!! isn't that a crazy number?????"
and yes historically (i just checked the data) over the past 25 yrs electric rates in my area have ~tripled (they were 11 cents per kWH in 2000 and are currently 30 cents per kWH) but like. that's kinda just what inflation is man. you can't scare me.
but also, can someone tell me what the fuck happened in boston in 2023? [graph source]
