A few weeks ago I took this photo of a strong, healthy confident male lion who was mating with a female. About two weeks later I saw him again on a buffalo kill with another male. It seems like he has a broken leg, he couldn’t put any weight in it and he hardly moved within this last week. I watched as an elephant came by and charged at him. He didn’t even try defend himself, he used all his strength stand up and limp away. It looked painful. It was difficult to watch. As much as I hope this won’t be the last I see of this beautiful king, you can never be sure.
