The Phantom has returned to New York City! He is leaving cryptic puzzles for those who are watching for clues to his presence. Have you received a letter? Don't forget to sign his ledger! 🪶👀

Full high quality scans of the 1881 in universe newspapers that were dropped at 6 newsstands in Manhattan this morning. Thanks IG user elissa_rizzo for both quickly snagging and sharing with everyone!
Note the two Le Monde Nouveau from 1880 and 1881 were not dropped. Looks like the front and back are different but the inside are the same which explains some of the timeline wonkiness.

It's March 31st...👀
In my headcanon, Erik is very much involved with the running of the Opera Populaire. But when he hires Meg as his eager assistant, he comes to regret it. 🤦‍♂️

The scorpion and the grasshopper always hold a unique meaning to fans of Gaston Leroux's original Phantom novel. Erik's ultimatum to Christine forced her to choose between marrying her ghoulish captor, or deny him at the peril of everyone in the Opera House. It was implied that the grasshopper was connected to the stores of gunpowder Erik had wired to blow the building sky high.
I recently found this brilliant, antique Japanese bronze grasshopper figurine, and knew I had to acquire it. It just arrived from Japan, and is a brilliant piece. Paired with an antique Chinese scorpion and model caskets, it makes a beautiful addition to my Phantom collection.

Michael Crawford's Face Cast
🎵 "𝑯𝒆'𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂..." 🎵
This is Michael Crawford's face cast by legendary makeup artist, Christopher Tucker. It was used by Tucker in the development of the original Phantom deformity when the show launched in 1986.
As a longtime Phantom fan and special effects makeup enthusiast, it is so special to have one piece that two legends contributed to. Tucker, who is probably most famous for his incredible work on the prosthetic makeup for the film, The Elephant Man, was tasked with creating the Phantom's horrible, yet oddly sympathetic, facial deformity. Michael Crawford, of course, was the first and original Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber's mega musical. The OG OG, if you will.
The face cast arrived today from Herefordshire 🇬🇧 and I am properly thrilled to see it take its place of honor. I never thought I'd own something like this. What an absolute privilege to be this piece's custodian. Sincerest thanks to @uk_heritage for their help in acquiring and safely transporting this piece.

This is Michael Crawford's face cast by makeup artist legend, Christopher Tucker. This face cast was used by Mr. Tucker in the development of the Phantom's makeup in Maria Björnson's brilliant original design.
...and I now own it. 😎🤯
I am very excited and honored to become the custodian of this rare piece of Phantom and effects makeup history.

Hmm...what do you think? 🤔
There would be endless fun to be had with the Opera House gang if all that murdery stuff hadn't happened. 🤷‍♀️ 😂

Some closeup shots of the famously unique paint scheme used in the Las Vegas production. This scheme is a radical departure from more conventional paint used in most replica productions. The bold paint job played well in a large theatre and became pretty iconic for phans of the production. It initially sparked a hot debate about the prosthetics beneath the paint. The prosthetic sculpt itself was made for Las Vegas production, and was a faithful but updated version of the original Crawford style prosthetics (photo 4).

He's a depressed mess here 😊
At first I wanted him to look as close to the book as possible, but then I just couldn't resist giving him this haircut and changing a few other things because why not.
I plan on drawing other characters and more of Erik too, so hopefully I'll have enough time lol.

After being delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic, the relaunched Phantom of the Opera World Tour in China has finally wrapped up successfully following seven months of touring seven cities in Shenzhen, Xi’an, Shanghai, Suzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, and Guangzhou. A huge mission accomplished, years in the making!
