ok its a little funny that gearbox started running a promotion to make ttw free to play for pr recovery on the same day take two changed their eula for all their games and everyone instantly grabbed their pitchforks again bc they skimmed it and think borderlands is spyware now. being a borderlands fan in 2025 has been MESSY 😭😭

if you asked me 10 years ago about how id feel if borderlands got rid of the minimap id probably be really disappointed because of how much i struggled with navigating bl1 as a kid. but as an adult i've played enough games without them that ill probably be fine without it. i DO think its a little weird to completely remove a feature thats been included in the modern releases of every borderlands game for years but. ill trust that they know what theyre doing with the echo 4 navigation stuff to accommodate those who need it. after everything with 3 i feel like they know how isolating big changes can be. i hope im not being too optimistic here but i really wanna believe they have good enough reasons to justify a change so divisive.

WOOOOO THIS THING WAS A MONSTER TO WORK ON !! my part in the @borderlandszine project, and also probably the biggest piece I've worked on... Just in general haha. I wanted to do a lot with it, and while I'm not fully sure I accomplished everything, I think it turned out really good for what I was intending to do. Remember to check out the finished zine and the works of everyone else involved because it genuinely turned out so great.

in my opinion the biggest thing borderlands 3 lacks next to 2 is the depth. bl2 is so in depth that you can sink hundreds of hours and still have a whole new experience while playing. theres a reason why it still maintains an active playerbase almost 13 years later. everything ive seen from bl4 is like the perfect natural progression from 2's setup that im kinda shocked to remember how much 3 missed out on improving. the sheer amount of skill tree customization, overhauled parts and drop mechanics, echo 4 assist, revkit buffs, etc etc. not to mention all the added tasks and interactables on the board. the entire world seems just as packed as bl2 if not more. bl3 had so many dead zones and just from 20min of random gameplay it kinda pales in comparison already.

i mean im still a littleee cautiously optimistic about the game overall just because ive been burnt before but literally everything ive seen and heard so far abt 4 has been reassuring. especially since my main criticisms with 3 are the loot drops and overall tone which have now both been addressed. i will 10000% be there on september 12th !!!!

you guys omfg i just watched the state of play i am HYPED. i got basically everything that i was hoping for. movement looks super fluid and clean, i love the atmosphere, the bosses they showed look killer, LEGENDARIES ARE RARE AGAIN, new raid bosses, parts mechanic is back, and its basically open world ?!?!?! i am SEATED.
