Hazbin meets Warhammer 40k aka my RPG character
About a year ago me and some of my friends started RPG Warhammer 40 000 (Rogue Trader) campaign. I never ever thought I could like this setting, but turns out it's possible to play it my style. And I have to say, the campaign is absolutely awesome, 11/10, can recommend.
I love to play characters inspired by those I'm fixating on in the moment, so I created a guy who sold his soul to a daemon of chaos god Tzeentch to become an extra powerful psyker (a mage so to say) and now he desperately wants to get free. Also, he always hides behind a smile and wears a monocle. You would never guess who was the model.
The thing is, when you flirt with the evil forces in Warhammer, you get corrupted, also physically. Tzeentch for example is famous for bluish bird features (not just that, but my GM mercifully let me have only those). Recently my poor character discovered some blue feathers on his back and it fascinated me so much I had to do the visualisation of what his potential future may look like, of course Hazbin style.
And you could say it kind of looks like blue-ish Alastor if he was a goetia.

Did you plan the whole comic, every scene and everything before drawing or did you let some sudden ideas get to you?
Basically I planned almost everything. When you make a professional comic, the script is first - you describe there what happens, who is seen and how the panels look, what the characters say. I did more or less the same with my fan one, just much less detailed, as I prepared the "script" for myself, not for someone else.
I know (knew?) what I generally want from every part, so when I start a new one, I create a script. For example now I know what the epilogue will be about, I have some ideas (still in my head) for particular lines and panels, but don't have details yet.
Sometimes I improvise, but just a little. For example, it may happen that I plan 5 panels for a page, but during drawing I can see it's too little to show something properly, or the panels are too big for images I want to show. So from time to time I add an extra panel or a speech bubble and think what could be said here. For example, Alastor's monologue from page 10(43) has been created when I started working on this page because I came to the conclusion it misses a good punch line, especially after previous parts, where everyone talked a lot more:

To sum it up, I recommend to have a script first. It helps you to see how much work left - and this helps to not abandon the story.

Hello! I’m not sure if you’ve answered this already and if you have apologies, but how do you get your comics to look so clean? Is there a specific process you do after the line art, or certain filters you apply?
I would love to post my own art but as a traditional artist I have no idea how to get it so CLEAN and would appreciate tips, tysm
Hey, so first I take a photo of the picture, then in GIMP, I select everything that is more or less black (the lines) and color it the proper black. It's important to have the lines drawn with actual dark ink, not just the pencil.
After that, I invert the color selection to mark everything that is NOT black and paint it white. This way, I end up with purely black lines and everything else in white, and then I start coloring everything. At the very end I convert the picture to the vector format to make the lines look smoother.
(Here are some screenshots, but I use Polish for GIMP, so I hope it will be still understandable)

I'm not sure if I explained it well, so if something is still unclear, feel free to ask.
Also, I have no idea how much this process makes sense, it's just something I figured out by making pictures for years since I was 13 or something.

So, thank you for all the likes and comments! Now I'm going back to having a break from drawing and after that I'll make the final part.
Judging by how much time it took the last time, Hazbin S2 will be probably first lol

I have to tell you that The Radio Is Broken is my favorite one sided RadioStatic comic. I love how you dealt with Vox’s warped point of view regarding Alastor’s sexuality. His obsession with trying to fix something that isn't broken just speaks volumes about Vox as a character.
And illustrates how some people irl think
And I need a physical copy if you ever make one.
Thank you! <3 I doubt I will ever make physical copies, as I have no idea how to organize something like this to be honest, but it's really cool to know someone would actually want it!

Hello!! It's not really a question, but a message, if you don't mind. I think I've said this before, but your comic is spectacular! It's faithful to the characters' canonical personalities and reveals their true natures in a non-romanticized way, addressing Alastor's ego and pride, Vox's wrath and selfishness. I love how detailed each panel, each setting, and each expression is; I imagine that's why it's such a tiring process. You captured the essence of the characters and created a very engaging and deep story even with only a few chapters. I really admire your work and hope you never give up, not only on the comic but on future projects and art in general. I also draw (I just don't post them), and I know how exhausting it can be sometimes, and how it sometimes feels like it stops being a hobby and becomes an obligation. I hope that doesn't happen to you. Keep living your life and being who you are, and when you can, keep creating new things with your creativity and talent (and maybe share them with us :))
Thank you! What a nice way to start a day, reading a comment like this ^^

Please answer this,
Omfg your radio is broken comics are FEEDING ME A FULLL CORSE MEAL! But, I am still hungry! Please make more, As I am Starving!
Thank youuu I know what you mean :D If someone else drew a comic like this I would be so invested too, haha. That's the curse of the creators - we have to make things nobody made for us.
There will be 2 more parts and no more after this unfortunately - I have to be at least a bit excited to do something as a hobby and I'm afraid that after so many pages it starts to feel like duty. I really want to finish the comic (the story will conclude exactly where I planned it when I decided I want to continue after part 1). If I didn't know where it ends - and that the end is just around the corner - I know I wouldn't be able complete it.
So I feel you, but at the same time I don't have strength to make this longer. Sorry! On the other hand - at the very beginning I was going to draw only part 1, so it's like 10 times longer than that already ;) Which honestly surprises me, because it's the longest comic I have ever drawn.

What will happened to Alastor in part 6 on the radio is broken? ( there be a part 6 or part 5 the last part?)
I won't spoil the plot ;) But I can say there will be part 6 and - if my will and patience will be strong enough - part 7 as an epilogue.

It takes me a long time, so here's one more update: three more pages to go.
PS. Normally I ink smoother. I have to say, not having a phone in the left hand helps to focus.

Hey, curious about something: What is the plot of The Radio is Broken, like when does it take place, because I kinda... don't understand... like, wouldn't Charlie and the gang be looking for Alastor? He wouldn't die that easily, so I'm just wondering.
It happens after the last episode of the first season. Alastor is wounded after the fight with Adam. He disappeared during the battle and didn't appear again until Charlie and other rebuilt the hotel. My comic happens somewhere in between.

Apparently Polish voice actor for game's Jaskier (Dandelion) said something like this lately. It's so Jaskier-coded I can't:
Tumblr media
"I played the role, thinking it was just one of many games, and then it became iconic and I became Jaskier. Thousands loved me. My voice. It happened, just like that."
Classic Jaskier.

Your Radio is Dead comics are FEEEEEDING me!! Do you also write fanfiction? I would totally sub
Hehe, thanks :D I don’t write Hazbin fanfiction and I’m not going to (that’s why I make this comic) and I very, very rarely write any fanfiction at all and even more rarely finish it. But if you want to check like 4 or 5 things I’ve written for different fandoms, here is my old fanfiction.net account. Most of it is in Polish, but I guess internet translators can help. The only thing that is actually almost finished - almost, because I never wrote an epilogue I planned - is „Gdy cieniem jesteś ty” („When the shadow is you”) - fic about Legolas. Polish version has more chapters than the English one.

My recent works (comic, Easter eggs, etc.) motivated me to try more artistic techniques and challenges. So I painted this. I think I'm pretty happy with the result, considering that the last time I used watercolors was probably in elementary school.

As you can see, I'm drawing. But - just like the last time - don't expect it soon. It's going really slowly.

My latest creation - traditional Polish Easter eggs (called "pisanki"), wooden version. OK, maybe only partly traditional, because I used acrylic paints instead of beeswax and dyes.
The designs are not mine btw, I copied them from photos of some pisanki from Podlasie and Kujawy.
Happy Easter everyone!
